We use Toast to make hybrid data DVDs for use under Mac and PC. In the past few days the PC users have not been able to open all the folders on the DVDs. The Macs have no problem opening all the folders. We have tried a few different Macs and copies of Toast to no avail. The DVDs are generally around 3GB with 100-150 files in 10 folders. From burn to burn the result will vary when a PC attempts to open the folders on the resulting DVD. Sometimes the first few folders will not open, other times it is a few folder further down the list. TIA.

It sounds like a problem with the media. Try several different brands of recordable discs.

We used a different brand of DVD-R and got the same result. The only way we can get a burn to work so far, for both Mac and PC, is to use UDF. Hybrid and ISO both generate half  usable disks.

Well, we finally got to the bottom of this one. For anyone that may run into this issue, it is a Quark problem. We traced the bad folders to Quark generated folders made during "Collect for Output." UDF was the only format that showed us anything different and we noticed that the folders we couldn't open on the PC had additional characters. We remade the folders in the Finder and copied the files then reburned. Worked like it always did.
