How can I listen to what is being recorded through line in while I am bringing my LP/Tape library in to burn to CD? In Creators 6 and 7 this was not a problem but there are other features in ver 8 I want to use so I would prefer to use 8. My Sound card is a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and is in a PCI slot. I have tried using Sound Editor and its options with no luck. According to the help system I think I should be able to monitor what is being recorded.

Look at 2 things. In the Windows audio mixer you need to make sure that the line in isn't muted. The same goes for whatever mixer you have for your sound card. This needs to be unmuted in the playback mixer.
Looks like the 2nd tab in the Santa Cruz control panel.

Thanks, but those were the first things I checked and double checked. This is only an issue with EMC 8. If I use any other program, including EMC 7, I can monitor the input without a problem. It almost looks like this is a missing function in EMC 8 and, based on other posts appears to have been brought back in EMC 9.

Ok,I was just making sure on the first two things.Make sure that you're not muted in either app also. One thing I did find was in Media Import that in the advanced options there is a mute also. Not that it would affect LP asst but look for something similar.I use a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and have been able to do this in both V8 and V9.

Thanks, but I had also found and checked that. It just seems to me I'm missing something obvious because this should not be such an issue. I might have to upgrade to ver 9 to get this to work. Any thoughts on 8 vs 9?

if you are sure that the lineis not muted in the system audio mixer i would check the sound card documentation. i don' t know about your specific sound card but some do not allow play back of audio that is being inputed through the mic plug but most often through the input plug
