To answer your question, yes it does install 1.1.  I also wonder why it would install it, if you have 2 on your computer already, as I did.

But, if I go to the Microsoft updates for SP2, it shows 1.1 as one of the updates I should install.  :)   I uninstalled 1.1 from this computer, and EMC 9 runs fine with version 2 installed.

Not all apps developed using .NET framework 1.1 will run under .NET framework 2. The two versions of .NET framework are independent of each other and run side by side. v 2 is not an update to 1.1; it includes features not in 1.1 but also some features of 1.1 were dropped; so apps using those parts of 1.1 may not run under 2; on my system, for example, Mathcad 12 will not run if only .NET framework 2 is installed. Glad to hear that Roxio is not one of those.

Thanks for that info.  I gathered that that was the case.  I have no use, whatsoever for either version, outside of the fact that you have to have one of them for EMC 9.

I have NET framework 1.1 because this requires it.  Coolermaster cooldrive 6 hard disk cooler, temp monitor, and fan speed controller.
It's not encouraging that EMC 9 requires it!
I thank you for the info jeanrosenfeld.
