I am trying to burn a 700mb avi file to dvd but it says not enough space. it is a blank 4.7 gb disc and ive tried ather discs. please help.

You might want to tell us what program you are using to burn the file to a DVD. Did you check to make sure the program was set to DVD?
Also, are you just saving to archive the file?

i am using roxio creator 8 (quick dvd) and i want to be able to watch it in a dvd player

File size means nothing, its the timelength that is imoprtant. A 4.7GB DVD will only hold 60 minutes of video at best quality. There is a workaround to this limit if you use myDVD to first create an iso file and then use DiscCopier to burn the iso file to the DVD.

also, make sure you have enough space (5+GB) for temp files on your C drive (by default)... your avi is gonna transcoded first into a temp folder before it's burned on a disc...

Is the total project size showing at the bottom? I had a problem with the project size showing to be over 33GB! and it of course would not burn. Eventually unistalled and reinstalled the software and that corrected it.

How does one change the temp file area on the C drive when it's transcoding ? with the Ver. 7 the Tools/Option gave that choice, but I can't find it in Ver. 8
