Haven't used this program in a long while and somehow placed my entire project in the Intro, resulting in an Error message of "Project Empty." Online Support question/answer link indicates that I have to start over completely. That would be major. It seems unbelievable that I can't cut/paste/save all the info that's right in front of me to insert into a new project, but I couldn't make it work or find info about it. Help would be greatly appreciated.

When you said "...placed my entire project in the Intro...", what actually did you add there: a dmsm, a video file, etc? Please provide detail of the steps you did.

I inserted 300 images with specific transitions.

This may help you. It is from a post by mlpasley, from long ago. From now on, build your productions in VideoWave. It is the program designed for building productions.

This might work, and it might not. It works for me, but other people who have tried this have not been able to get it to work.

Open up your DVD Builder project, click on Advanced Edit, now change something (i.e. the duration of a still photo, etc.), click Done. DO NOT CLOSE DVD BUILDER or the file will disappear.
Now do a Windows Start\ Search\ All Files and folders.... search for a dmsm file, under More Advanced options, select - search System folders, Hidden Files, subfolders. Under When was it modified, choose today's date. ( On my computer, the file is in C:\ Documents and Settings\ username\ Local Settings\ Temp.) (username because I have different Win XP User Accounts.)
When Windows Search finds the file, double click on that file and it will open in VideoWave. Do an immediate File\ Save As... and give it a new name. Now your file will be able to be opened in VW in the future.
Hope that helps.

I have it saved as a dmsd. Thank you for replying so quickly.

Unfortunately, that did not work. This is a puzzler. How can all the info be there... I can even play it completely within the program, but can't isolate and grab the 300 slides and transitions? I appreciate your time. Thanks. Diane

You should have saved as dmsm, not dmsd. Then open a new project in DVDBuilder and add that dmsm as a new title.

So if she build the project through the Editor in DVDBuilder, it doesn't create a "temporary" dmsm file while it is in edit mode?

If you are in the Advance Edit mode (in DVDBuilder), are you able to highlight all the objects there (panels, transitions) and copy them onto clipboard? Then open a new project in VW, click the first blank panel and then paste the clipboard. If it work, then tweak the project to put back any missing piece such as audio. Then save the project. Go to DVDBUilder, open a new project, then add the created dmsm as new title.

Please post back if the above suggestion works.

At the time, I didn't realize there was a difference. Too late now...painful mistake. Thanks to you and Grandpabruce.

I think I may have a way to do this so that you don't have to start over...... :)

When you make the production as an INTRO in DVD Builder
1. Go to your production and select all your pictures and transistions by holding down the shift key.
2. Now do a CTRL+ C to copy all the pictures and transitions.
3. In the upper right hand corner where it says Intro, select the other option which is Title Menu 1.
4. On the blank menu, choose Add title and select a picture (which you can delete later).
5. Now click on the next blank frame in the Production Editor and do a CTRL + V.

Your pictures and transitions should now appear.

*** Merv pointed out to me that you can go to the menus at the top of DVD Builder and choose DVD Menu, then Remove intro title. You will now have a production in DVD Builder without the Intro.

If you want to get the production into VideoWave, you can now follow the pinned instructions at the top of this board.
Hope that wasn't too confusing...... I you get stuck because I forgot a step, please ask.

Surprisingly, I am able to copy to the clipboard, but although "Paste" is available in VW, it will not accept the images. I tried just one, then attempted the whole group. My current plant is to produce a new program in VW (which I knew nothing about) on one screen, while viewing and following the completed DVD Builder storyboard on the other to choose the images and their sequences from the ones available in my file in VW. Whew! Putting the transitions in may be more problematic, but at least I don't have to re-create my original "vision." Again, thanks for taking the time to help me out. I do think the Roxio Intro/Title thing is not at all intuitive. I would guess there are lots of others who really do not utilize multiple titles....just one title/intro/whatever slide to open with, then on with it!

You don't try to paste it in VideoWave. You go to the upper right hand corner in DVD BUILDER and choose Title Menu 1. Then you put one 'throw away' picture on that menu by choosing Add Title and selecting a picture.

THEN do a Ctrl+V and paste the entire intro onto the Production Editor in DVD BUILDER.

Then you've got to save the production and follow the steps at the top of the board to get it into VideoWave.

OR you should be able to now select all the pictures and overlays in the Production Editor (the ones you just pasted), do a Ctrl+C to copy the pictures and overlays, and now you should be able to paste them into a VideoWave production.

HOWEVER, if you don't mind the black screen that appears when you delete the Intro, you don't have to take it into VideoWave.
