I have been getting a missing DAO.msi and error message 1706 at computer start up. I also noticed that my Windows greeting screen has disapeared. According to Microsoft I should repair Office XP which I did but no luck. any help?

Do you have any Roxio programs installed?  What about other video editing programs?  Two different packet writing programs?  You gave us very little to go on.

Office XP ?  Do you mean XP Professional?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Do a search in these forums for "dao.msi" and there's a good chance you'll find something that'll help.

All roxio programs were installed including the video editing packages that were included (Video Wave). All other CD programs such as Nero and InCD were uninstalled during Roxio installation. Actually I do not have the entire Office XP suite I just have Powerpoint xp 2002 sp3 and Word 2000 and the remainder is Office 97. To answer the other question I searched this discussion board database and I am the only hit for dao.msi

Generic Gigabyte P4 Titan 865PE, Intel P4,3.2 ghz w/ 2 gb ram, Windows XP SP2,  Dual Screeen Nvidia GeForce FX5700VE
