Help!  I have been using VideoWave 8 for a slideshow with photos and accompanying audio.  Now I'm trying to go back and add text to certain slides.  Adding text to my blank slides has not been a problem.  However, every time I attempt to add text to a photo slide, and particularly when I try to "move" the text box to a corner or to another space on the slide, my my hard drive (or something) goes nuts. I can hear it whirring loudly -- same thing each time.

And then it locks up my VideoWave and gives me an error that "Windows Display Driver stopped responding.  The ialmrnt5 display has stopped working normally."  And then I get huge icons on my desktop and the grainy display.  (Excuse my ignorance in not knowing proper terms for this situation.  I'm not that "techno savvy.")

Anyway, I have a big, bad PC (or so I thought), not even a year old.  It's a Gateway GT5026E.  Intel Pentium D CPU, 2.80 GHz, 0.99 GB RAM, Windows XP Home Edition.  Not sure what other info you need.

Please advice as I'm getting frustrated and I don't want to kill my PC over this video!

Thanks,
Amy

It sounds like you have an onboard video chip, for which you need to update the drivers.  If you are lucky, you won't have problems after that, but my guess is you need to update to an actual video card that supports all of Direct X functions needed for the software.

Thanks for the advice Bruce!  I'll see if I can figure that out.  I'm a bit of a computer idiot but I'm sure I can find someone to update my video card for me. That'll certainly save me some frustration when using this program.

Bruce, you said that I need to update the drivers.  How do I go about doing that?

Also, I currently have DirectX 9.0c on my PC.

First you need to know what you have.  Use Belarc Adviser to get the specs on your computer or go to Windows Start> Run> type in dxdiag> OK and look at the display tab.  What is listed for your device on the left side of the window?  I suspect that you have  video chips on your mother board so an investment in a new card should be a consideration.  But the video chips may still be good enough.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

PC  Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Velocity Micro ProMagix ©HD 60; evga x58 motherboard, Intel i7 @2.93, 12G RAM, EVGA Nvidia 560TI superclocked video card, SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme audio card, Buffalo external blu-ray burner; Creator 2012. PhotoShow 6, VHS to DVD 3Plus.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Apple =OSX 10.5
MacBook Pro; 15.4-inch widescreen display, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory, 200GB hard drive, 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 memory.  ILife 08, Toast 10, Final Cut Express 4 and Photoshop 4.

If you got Paint Shop Pro as a freebee with your PC, you can add the text to the photo in that program and then bring it into your show.  I've been having trouble trying to add text within the Roxio product, and this was my work-around until I figure things out
