Hi,

I have been using MyDVD LE for a while and been generally happy with how it's working (it came preinstalled on my Dell here). Recently I wanted to use some of the premium features so I purchased and downloaded MyDVD Premier 8.

On burning a couple of VCD's with the new software I noticed a marked decrease in the sound quality of the videos. I used some codec tools to look at the files on the VCD and noted that the audio on the ones created with MyDVD Premier 8 are 64k-MPEG1-layer2 and the audio on VCD's made with the MyDVD LE (which no longer works) were 224k-MPEG1-layer2 -- which would explain the noticeably poorer audio quality on VCD's made with the newer software.

Is this normal? Is there a way to adjust the MyDVD-Premier 8 software to use a higher bitrate on the audio? So far this has been a very disappointing aspect of the purchase and is making me consider uninstalling it and going back to the LE version.

Any help/info appreciated.

Thansk.

I just checked MyDVD in EMC 9 (similar to V8) and saw the higher bit rate was the default and it could not be changed. Once you set up the project in MyDVD for a vcd, click on the project settings and see what the audio settings are. The codec tools may be wrong or perhaps the right codec for that mpg1 224 has become corrupted.
