In addition to previous posting re EMC VideoWave not loading after several succesful edits/DVD burns:
Re-loaded EMC 9 AGAIN after above issue, but this time my DVD was killed: didn't show up as a device in Hardware at all.
Uninstalled EMC and DVD recognized ! Did this 3 times with same results: WITH EMC 9, no DVD drive, WITHOUT EMC 9, DVD drive recognized again.
WHAT IS GOING ON PLEASE ????

There are two posts pinned to the top of the V8 general board; try them depending on your symptoms

thanks for the info
before I go throught the changes, that the articles seem to relate to post-XP updates that may not relate to me:
1. I was able to edit and burn several DVD movies with no problem (EMC 8 never woked 4 me at all)
2. When I tried the next one, VideoWave process would load (taskmanger) but not open as an app
3. Un-/Re-installed EMC 9 and the DVD didn't show up as a drive (HW Device Manager showed an "!")
4. Uninstalled driver, rebooted, windows said it found the device, but still didn't show up as available on drive list
5. Un-installed EMC 9, and POOF, the drive showed up !!! Its a Lite-ON and the mfr site says its default Microsoft driver
6. Reinstalled EMC 9 and back to "3" above
7. The worst part is that it worked just fine for a while and then EMC seems to hijack the DVD drive
Does that make a diff in resolution ?
thx

Did you install any packet writing programs like Drag 2 Disc.  If so get rid of it or set it to open only when you really want to use it.  Two packet writing programs on the same computer will cause all kinds of problems (Nero's is InCD, there is Bob's and others.  Did that burner come with software that would be a packet writer?  Their web site seems to be down so I can't check.

sknis, I agree on the two packet programs causing havoc. If the op won't try anything other than uninstalling and it works and shows up. Reinstalling and  yellow exclamation mark in device manager and no drive. We can't fix it for him.
What I really would like to know, what and who is Bob's?

In reply above, isn't drag 2 disc part of EMC 9 ? The aggravating issue is that after uninstall Sonic/Roxio leaves junk all over the Registry so I clean out EVERYTHING Sonic/Roxio
what I don't understand is how I can edit/burn one day and not the next, with the exclamation on my DVD in device manager ! I noticed post for removing RXFilter for EMC 8: is that applicable for EMC 9 ?
am terrified of goiing through the whole process again  :)
so now what .................

D2D is part of 9 but it is installed as a separate program.  To remove it, use the Control Panel and you'll see a separate listing for Drag to Disc.

Thx
I went in to registry after uninstall and cleaned out ALL references to Roxio/Sonic products and off my hard drive (you think uninstalls would be more complete than that !) then reinstalled EMC 9 (the post you referred me to was for EMC 8 but seems the same for EMC 9) and everything SEEMS fine again- it even installed a system BUMP in home/apps- since remnants of mo old BUMP was still in the registry

I must have been thinking about my brother (Bob)  when I was writing that. :)  Actually it is B's Clip that comes preloaded on Toshiba's  laptop.  How that for an obscure reference. :D  Never hear of it except for there.  "B" could really be Bob ? :D

Don't think it has anything to do with the "Killer B's" who play(ed) for the Houston Astros baseball club.

Thanks, cleared  that up!

Better than Bob Sonic above you.

I have heard of B's Clip, it was a topless men's hair salon in or 38th State. Don't know if it is still in operation though. Probably like the Mustang a thing of the past.
