I got Roxio 9 running on XP on a Dell Dimension 8400. The computer came with a software that copies packets to cd/dvds. This software has a utility called DLA. Roxio drag to disk and DLA are not compatible. I have had removed the DLA utility. Recently I receive a message from Dell telling me that they have a new DLA driver that prevent craches. Cool, so stupid of me I downloaded and installed it. My system crashed to the point or no return. What a mess. Finally, after several attempts I was able to boot up into windows and immediately removed the DLA driver. Rebooted but now the drag to disk utility doesn't recognize the recorders. Every time I try to enable drag to disk it tells me that the recorder is busy. DLA is removed so I have no idea what is causing this. The recorders are up to date on firmware. I have removed tons of others software but the same presists. I have removed all Roxio software and re-installed 9 a couple of times. The same problem. Roxio has this ask Roxanne for support. She is totally useless. It only has answers to simple questions that can be found on the help index. Can I get help on this? Please. My email is (deleted)

You might want to give this fix at try. It worked for EMC8 and should for 9. You can also try removing the drives in Windows, rebooting and when Windows picks them up again, they might be claimed once more by EMC.

certainly thank you for your effort in trying. I removed the recorders from the device manager and turn off the computer for a minute. When it came back up Windows installed the recorders but Drag to disk still indicates that there are NO RECORDERS. I have also tried before the RXfix and RX enabler. Nothing seems to work. I know I had this very same problems in a previous version. I don't remember how in the world I fixed it. But, I do know that there is a conflict. But where I don't know. Humm, By the way I really appreciate you removing my email address. Thanks. So what now?

Thanks for the 'thanks' but sknis removed your email....props to him.
As for your problem, first, let's make sure you have updated firmware for your burner. I have an 8400 and there getting kind of old now so it may have been awhile since you've checked for new firmware. What drive do you have? You might want to check on Dell's site and enter in your Service Tag number for the downloads available for your site.

Oh, Mr. Beerman. Thanks. Let tell you what I have done so far. I have ran all of the utilities so far in the Roxio sites. The ones used for the installed, the uninstalled. Removed Roxio and ran RoxioZap installed it again. Removed DLA from the computer. Updated the firmware on both recorders and nada. See the thing is that it was working fine until DELL sent me a notification that they had a new DLA version that prevent crashes. There's where my problems began. The computer crashed totally. After removing DLA from the computer to prevent any more crashes drag to disk indicates "No Recorder". I am really getting pretty tired of working on this for hours every day after work.

Are you sure you removed all the pieces of DLA from the system? Maybe a post on the Dell forum would get you somewhere.
Just a thought, do you have iTunes installed? I know the older versions caused problems with EMC8. Another thought is to go into the control panel and remove Drag to Disc which is listed separately in EMC9. It can't be chosen to 'not' install the first time so you have to manually remove it. Maybe try this first to see if that clears up your problem.

Yes I am sure I removed DLA from the computer. In fact I went to the Sonic site and downloaded the sonic dla so I could install it again to then remove it. As it turn out it was a Roxio DLA. I don't have Itunes. I have removed the Drag to disk by itself before, rebooted and install it again. Removed the whole thing and install it again. And still the same problem. I am not trying to be dificult I am only relating the problems I am having. I has become like a rutine now to do this things on a daily basis but no results. Everyone I talk to tells me to do some of the other things I have already done 2 or 3 trimes already. I amgetting tired of it. I have tried about all utilities on the Roxio site with no results.

I think at this point you should contact Roxio support. This is a user forum and the majority of times, we're able to help someone but it does appear you've done the standard and not so standard thigs.

Well, tonight I used the repair 3 trimes and still the problems is there. Drag to disk says no recorder. When I try to enable it says that the recorder is busy. That tells me that there is something else bothering it. I have remove so many things. Is there a way I could get the engine for the Drag to disk to enable it? The other copy functions work well. I like to know if there is a phone number I can call. Roxio doesn't show those anywhere I look. If someone has it please let me know. Thanks, Bill
