I reinstalled EMC8 (many times now), and some of the transitions are missing all together.  I have even noticed that when I edit my movie I have to remove one style of a transition because it is working weard (I believe its the circle fade out or in).    What is causing this and how do I correct? :)

First, update the drivers for your computer video card or chips.  If that doesn't work, you may not have the video horsepower to render the 3D transitions.  If you don't know what card/chip you have, go to the Windows Start button and select run, type in dxdiag and then OK.  From the first tab, what versions and date of DirectX do you have?  Go to the display tab and copy the device information and post it here.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
