I put this request under "Audio" portion, but got no responses, so will try here. I want to save a portion of a song, while keeping the origingal intact. I go to Sound Editor, bring up the song, put in a new track at the point where I want the new clip to begin, then put a new track where I want it to end. I know in EMC7 it would then ask me if I want to save and I ended up with 3 tracks and the original. But when I do that in EMC8 I lose the original. What is the difference between "Save file" and "save Project". How do I save a portion of a song, while preserving the original song? Thanks.

I'm looking at V9 but I think it's pretty similar. At the bottom left does it show you the various clips? If so then all you should have to do is highlight one and then click on "Export Current Clip".This will create a new track from the clip and leave the original intact.

I'd gladly do it because....."

Exactly what I wanted - so easy, yet so frustrating. Thanks for your time. MK
