Im using Toast 7 Titanium, all I want to do is to convert an avi file to dvd...

I drag the avi file to toast, looks and plays ok. I have DVD-Video checked, No menus, Auto-play disc on insert, Encoding is on AUTOMATIC, Video Quality on Best but I have also tried good.

I then click the Record button are I get the messege below:-

Error messege, There's not enough free space on this disc:2361207 sectors (4.50GB) are needed, 2298496 sectors (4.38GB) are avaible..

I have tried 2 types of dvds and Im getting the same messege, my question is what Im I doing wrong the Encoding is on Automatic should this not bring it down to fit on a blank DVD?

Ive looked at the custom options but wouldnt have a clue on how to set things up this is why I picked automatic. If anyone could help me out I would be greatful, thanks....

You will have to use Custom settings and change the max bit rate

While changing the maximum bit rate is the right way to adjust such a small difference, there is another way to go when you encounter this problem. Choose Save as Disc Image instead of clicking the burn button. When that is done, select the disc image using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window. With "Fit-to-DVD" checked, click the burn button. The video will be compressed further to fit the disc. This takes much longer than adjusting the bit rate setting in the first place, but it will automatically fit the content to a single-layer disc.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
