Hopefully, you folks can help me. I already owned EMC 8 and recently upgraded to the download version of EMC 9. After installing the program, it hangs everytime I try to open it up. EMC 8 however works fine. When I deleted EMC 8 and loaded EMC 9 again, it still hung on startup. I deleted EMC 9, reinstalled EMC 8 and all is well however, I'm still out the $70 for a program evidently I cannot use for whatever reason..
Please advise....
I have a Dual Core AMD 4200 and 2GB RAM.

First, make sure you don't have IE7 beta installed as it causes problems with ECM9. Go into the control panel and remove the program, reboot then remove all Roxio folders including C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Roxio. Reboot again and reinstall EMC9.
Would you happen to have any other similar software installed on your system as well?

Great reply!! Yes, Im running IE7. I also have Nero 6.6. Would these be the sources of the problems?

IE7? Most definitely! There's a sticky note on the top of the forum explaining about EMC9 and IE7. If you have Nero InCD installed with EMC9 Drag to Disc, that's another no-no. Remove one of them and you should be ok. The IE7 may not hang your system but will definitely not allow you mpeg activation so if you haven't noticed this as of yet, you will so uninstall it and go back to 6. Roxio will have a fix for it when IE7 is released in it's 'normal' form.
