I am getting no audio response using the Dazzle device. Do I need to re-install or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere. My device is working on the video side. I've used the line/in option to get some sound, but I really need to use the RCA audio inputs. This device was a selling point for me and I'm kinda disappointed. Someone help, please and thank you.

I could never get it to work in version 8, which I no longer have on  my computer.  I have to find some time, in the next few days, to try it with version 9.  I have seen some posts saying it works well with 9.

i was one who was able to get it to work in both versions.  I guess I don't understand what the problem is.  Could you explain it in a little more detail ?  What sound card/chips are you using? Have you looked at all the Windows audio settings to make sure none of the inputs you want to use is muted?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I don't see any problems with muting. The computer is an HP Pavillion a1560n Media Center. The sound card/device is RealTek High Definition Audio. That was all I saw in the control panel for sound. The problem in detail is the Dazzle device isn't picking up any audio signal on input, but it is picking up video signals on input.

Is it that the audio is not there while it's capturing/preview, or it's not there when you play back the captured file?

Like Steve I've gotten it to work in V8 and V9.I use it mostly to record Tv off of satellite.I use S Video in and the RCA's.I can't remember in V8 if there is an options box below the preview screen. If there is open it and make sure that the audio isn't muted there. This was a problem I had with V9 when I first tried to use it.

On the Roxio Media Import window, you have the option of capturing photo, video, or audio. If I put my input as the Dazzle device on video,(S-video w/ RCA audio) it will record whatever sound I have being pumped in through the RCA jacks as back sound to the video being captured (during prev/rec/playb). If I switch my input to Audio and select the Dazzle device, I get nothing in prev/rec/playb. The 'capture from' box says the Dazzle device, while the 'Input' box below it remains blank whatever combination I choose.

You are correct, that device will not capture audio only.  I do not know why but I did try that for an earlier poster.  You'll have to check with Pinnacle web site to find out why.  I could not find anythng except that the source needs to be attached and operating before it will work for video.  Perhaps if it doesn't see a video input, it will not work.  You will have to go directly to your computer's sound card/chip.

Well, that just stinks. I'll move this topic to the Pinnacle site and see what I get. Thanks for the help to all. This is my first exp. w/ EMC and I like it enough, just disappointed in the Dazzle audio. Glad this forum was here. I'll be back to surf more topics, I'm sure.

I've wondered about the same thing. When you use it to capture video the sound input shows as Microphone. When you switch to the audio tab the input doesn't show up.If you find a solution to this problem please come back and let us know.I'm sure more than a few people would like to use it to capture audio.

i have had the same problem with a slightly newer pinnacle product.  the pinnacle program captures audio with the video fine and i have checked all mutes and volume controls that i can find both system and device related but still cannot get any sound to record in the EMC8 video capture program.  I know the audio is there but it will not record.  plz let me know if you find a way to fix this or what i am missing!!
