MyDVD hangs after the burn command, when the conversion windows appears.
After 30 mins the progress is still 0% but the process videowave.exe is using 50% CPU anyway.
It not stops normally by its interface: window does not close and the process keeps eating CPU.
I Must use a process  (task) manager to kill it.

All other ROXIO services and tasks are active and running.
ASPnet state service is on manual and stopped: is it necessary ?
The files to be processed are AVI, the first 600mB, the second 300MB.

I also noticed that when no Roxio OR other burning-app are active,
I can't open the DVD drive Trolley-door.
This is a consequnce of the  RoxioEMC9 installation.

Roxio installed also Netframework 1.1 warning me of nothing:
now  .NET updates could affect the roxio installation?

BTW:  - There are skins for all this stuff?

- Why every Roxio  thing I click it keeps continuosly asking to connect over internet?
I've disabled the autoconnect  option everywhere i did find it.

- RoxioUpnP Service and Renderer have to be enabled for what (remote) features?

- Roxio hadware watcher service s not a process i need always on; can it be set to "manual"?
What is it doing, all the time?To provide what functionality?

- Rox liveshare is another feature I don't need now. The service can be disabled, right?

- RoxMediaDB service : is it necessary? All i need is to burn-add my stuff in DVD data or video
Thank you

Are these AVIs DivX or Xvid?  There is a conflict ifyou have the latest DivX 6.2 installed.  EMC9 installs 6.1.  Another user posted a way to have them both on the same machine.  Just do a search on this forum for DivX.

I hvae also noticed on my machine that the drive door button on the front doesn't always work after using some of the applications.  However if you run Explorer and click on EJECT, that seems to bring it back. I haven't tried to troubleshoot this because I hardly ever use the button on the front.

Yep, EMC uses 'skins'.  Personally, I dislike any software with skinning.  Whatever happened to a consistent 'look and feel' for the operating system? Unfortunately, most major softwaer companies are using skinning now.  Adobe, Ulead, Roxio, Magix, Sony....  my desktop is starting to look like the Fab5 came in and redecorated it. :)

The videos are DivX5 the first, and DivX4.

I saw the article you mentioned,  I have only the Roxio version in my system32 folder.
I un/re-registered  it in the new more appropriate location leaving The original (NOW unregistered) copy in the sys folder..................

I tested 2 different Divx players and they work fine,  Roxio Cineplayer as well.

Where are the skins? Or they are not? (I dislike this light blue vibe, i would prefer no skin at all)

- Why every Roxio  thing I click it keeps continuosly asking to connect over internet?
I've disabled the autoconnect  option everywhere i did find it.
There are several items that need to be registered or activated at some point.  Several apps also access Gracenotes if you are working with audio files.

- RoxioUpnP Service and Renderer have to be enabled for what (remote) features?
Universal Plug n Play is used for some devices like a router, wireless speakers or DVD players that have ethernet cards.

Are you talking about Roxio Watch?  This is part of Media Manager that watches your 'media' folders. It indexes the files for easier access.

- Rox liveshare is another feature I don't need now. The service can be disabled, right?
Also another feature of Media Manager to share images over the internet.

Another part of Media Manager.

If you do not use these features of Media Manager, you can uninstall it.  that's what I have done.  Go to the Control Panel; Add/Remove Apps and select EMC9.  Click CHANGE and then MODIFY.  When you get to the list of installed applications, just UNCHECK Media Manager and Digital Home (UPnP).  Then OK.

That should get rid of all of the above.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

	Runtime Error!

	Program: C:\Programmi\Roxio\VideoUI 9\VideoWave9.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

	OK

This message appears when i click create DVD from the Home window
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The progress  bar is 2% after normalizing the volume levels.
The roxio tasks now active during the "coding of the movie" in the Project Burning (Preview is black):

explorer.exe	360	Esplora risorse
	RoxWatchTray9.exe	644	RoxMMTrayApp Module
	CPSHelpRunner.exe	1136	ROXHelpRunner Module
	DMXLauncher.exe	728
	Roxio_Central33.exe	5608	Roxio Creator
RoxWizardLauncher9.exe	2896	50.00 <-----------------------CPU USED
	CPSHelpRunner.exe	3544	ROXHelpRunner Module

---------------------------------

Now I have Roxio Disk Copy asking continuosly a connection to 63.236.55.1
When left to connect suddenly the PC reboot!! :)

--------------

I'm now trying with Disc Copier to make a compilation with the two AVIs.
The huge one (DivX5) is reported having a play time 0 min and 0 s
The other is fine.

The problem seems solved playing a preview of the film.

The rest of this story:
During burning  an error occurred (buffer ..."something")
and  the 4,7 DVD was spit out and lost.

So i decided to save an image (on another partition) and burn it later.

Unfortunately, after about 2 hours of processing,  it was produced a 8,5 Giga .C2D file.
(now it's clear why it was saying "excellent quality"  )
Why 8,5 G ? I never set that media for this job.
Why not a standard .ISO or .BIN image?

ggrussel: can you please answer these questions and the previuos you omitted ?
In particular: upgrading NETframework to version 2.x (the newer) could be safe for the existing Roxio installation?

Thank you

Lots of questions at once can be confusing. LOL  .NET 2 works fine. I have it installed.

You state that your preview is BLACK.  This indicates a video driver problem. Make sure you have the latest video card driver and DirectX (aug2006).

As for the 8.5gig .C2D file, Disc Copier should be able to burn that to a 4.7 blank disc. It will transcode the video and audio to make it fit. Believe it  or not, it does a fairly good job, too.

Afraid I can't help much with the program errors.
