hello everyone, i am new here, having just acquired Toast 7.
I wish to burn my entire iphoto library to a dvd, resulting in dvd I can use to access the photos for the future, whilst freeing up HD space on my G5 iMac.
Can anyone "talk me though this?" I am a bit nervous about losing my images ( about 3,000).
Thanks,
Bart

Well one simple way would be to just burn your "Pictures" folder to a CD or DVD.  Because of the way iPhoto works, I wouldn't simply access the library directly from the burnt Disc (unless you never plan on making any changes at all).

You can drag the iPhoto Library folder to the Toast Data window and burn your disc. If you have too much content to fit a single disc, then choose Mac Only as the format so you can benefit from Toast's disc spanning feature.

Alternatively you can use the Media Browser to access your iPhoto albums. Drag each album to the Data window and Toast will select and burn only the image version that appears in your Library. In other words, it won't copy the original if you made edits and won't include all the thumbnails and iPhoto directory info. This makes the disc easy to use for looking at the pictures, but a poor choice for replacing the iPhoto Library if that ever is needed.

You also can use the Video window. Drag the iPhoto albums from the Media Browser to the Video window. This will tell Toast to create DVD slide shows from those images. If you put a check mark next to the Add Data Content option in the Disc Settings window that appears when you click the More button, your actual photos will be burned to the disc along with the DVD slide show. See more info about this in Toast Help.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Thank you folks.....
I tried dragging the lbrary across and burning in mac only, but I have stopped as I now know it will span 7 discs.....dumb question time.....
If I do that, are the discs marked in anyway (yes I do have a pen of course!)  to indicate they are a part of a series of 7? or when subsequently looking for an image do I have to blunder about over 7 discs?
Just wondered before I blow 7 blank dvd's.
Thanks again,,
bart
