I cannot get MYDVD, VideoWave or Disc Copier to burn a movie or slideshow to a DVD. It will however, make a music CD as its supposed to. This is a new version of Roxio EMC9 replacing  Roxio EMC8 Deluxe Suite. I was able to burn two DVD's before problems started. During the movie encoding and burn project process, the programs quits at about 27% and states, "An unrecoverable device error occurred. Error while encoding movie."

I can encode a movie or project into an iso image file, but it will not burn from there. I have updated my video adapter card so it is current. Everything seems to work right except it will not burn DVD's.

Can anyone please assist with some good advice.

System:
Dell 8300 Series Computer
3 MGHz processor Intel 4
1 GB Ram
Windows XP SP2 Home Edition
nVidia 128 MB DDR GeForce FX 5200 video card
Sony DVD RW DRU-820A burner
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 sound card

What about a firmware update for your burner...could make a difference. What program do you use to burn the ISO to disc?

I can only burn the iso file to the hard drive using MYDVD Express. The iso image file will not burn to disk using the disc copier function.

MyDVD Express only encodes to an ISO and does not burn it to disc unless you have both burn to disc and save disc image file checked. What happens when you try using Disc Copier?  Does it error out or the disc does not play?
Have you tried using the Burn Image to Disc in the Home menu or Creator Classic to burn the ISO file?

I followed your suggestion and went to the Sony site to look for a firmware update. They don't make it easy to find one but I finally prevailed. After completing the firmware update to the Sony DVD RW 820A, I went back and tried to burn a production like before. Your advise was right on. It now works like it should. Thanks for your great advice. I find that Roxio support is a complete waste of time. Don't even bother going there.
Again, thanks alot. The beer is on me.

I kind of like that but the only thing that worries me is the 'runs' part. :)
