I'm having a little trouble with this, and "Roxanne" hasn't been able to help.
I am trying to do something relatively simple: download home video from a sony camcorder (mini dv tape) and burn to dvd. Toast is supposed to be able to do it with a "one-click" function. But it doesn't work. After importing (which goes fine) and encoding (which also goes fine), I get a message that says that the file is too big for my dvd (single layer). Isn't Toast supposed to compress the video file to fit on a single dvd?
I now have a 6+ gig dv file and audio file. Is there another step that I need to do to get Toast to compress and burn this onto a dvd?
I was under the impression that Toast 7 was able to do this automatically, but I guess I am mistaken. Perhaps I do not understand the video encoding/compressing process well enough to know what steps I should take with Toast. (Frankly, the user manual is somewhat vague on this. It talks about compression only when burning a VIDEO_TS folder.)
I would really appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks.

I don't know why it didn't work, either. Toast can fit more than two hours of video to DVD at its automatic setting.
What I suggest you do is follow all the same steps except choose Save as Disc Image instead of clicking the burn button. You won't get any error message (unless you're short on hard drive space). When the disc image is finished, burn it to DVD using the Image File setting in the Copy window.

I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!
