    Serial Number

there is only one letter-number that is either an O or a 0 and it looks like a 0, not an O but I tried both and it still has a red x, every other letter and number are plain as day as to what they are. I have a nice desk lamp with a nice shiny new bright LED bulb in it and can see very well each and every letter and number. it starts with two numbers then a dash, then two letters, two numbers, and a letter, then four letters, and a number, last two letters, then the 0 followed by two letters. the only questionable letter/number is the 0 and I tried t with 0 and with O and it does not like it, either way, all other letters and numbers are plain as day so that there can be no mistake as to what they are.

    Serial Number

The usual problem is substituting look-alike characters for each other, e.g. figure zero (0) for letter O .

    Serial Number

This was already supposed to be on my laptop but for some reason, it in gone, drug out the installation disk and it absolutely refuses to accept the CORRECT SERIAL NUMBER just keep showing a red x YES I TYPED IT IN EXACTLY SEVERAL TIMES USING A DESK LAMP TO SEE VERY CLEARLY THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE BACK OF THE DISK SLEEVE, there is no damage or anything to the serial number it looks brand new. why is your product not accepting the PROPER SERIAL NUMBER There is more than one way to skin a cat, went to device manager and tried to install the drivers directly but that was a no go, so I looked at the driver folder on the DVD disk and the driver folder did not have the driver but had a zip file, copied that do my downloads folder unzipped it then told the device manager where the file was and presto chango driver is installed, just not the stupid software that cannot recognize its own PROPER CORRECT SERIAL NUMBER>

It's a slightly different path to Programs and Features in Windows 7, but I've turned off anti-virus, gone to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and right clicked on Roxio Creator NXT 7, selected Uninstall, selected Repair, waited while it repaired my installation, turned anti-virus back on, and rebooted. That gives me the exact same result from MyDVD as I've been seeing all along -- no sound on the DVD. For completeness, I did the same thing but in Programs and Features selected Roxio MyDVD and did a repair on *that*. And again, had the same result. There is something fundamentally and systematically screwed up about my MyDVD installation here. The buttons on the settings menus don't work. I can't change the titles on the menus of the DVD. The resulting DVD or DVD ISO has no sound.

Sound to me like you re-downloaded and re-installed and then ran repair? If you go to 'Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features' and double click on your Roxio NXT7 entry, a screen should pop up 'welcome to setup wizard' click next, another screen pops up 'choose setup type', 'repair or remove' that's it!

I didn't install the program over itself: I did a repair. To be very explicit about the steps I took: I started up the initial CreatorNXT7Installer.exe file which was downloaded when I purchased my upgrade online. It walked through the product key, license agreement, and registration screens, chose a folder for downloading files, clicked on "Download/Install", watched it verifying the files, and then when the setup wizard came up, I selected "Repair". I had .NET 4.7.2 installed, but I've installed the 4.6.2 you recommended and re-attempted the repair, with the same result -- a DVD burned with no sound. Just to be sure I started this time by creating a new project in MyDVD.

You may get that error screen by installing a program over itself. You want to do a repair. I see errors in .net framework. Try installing it separately .here If my ancient memory is still active, I think that error 1603/1605 also suggests that.
  10. I'm going through torture trying to get this product to work, still no joy, but I have learned a few computer things to pass on. Maybe you know this stuff, I didn't. After the software is loaded and BEFORE you press the "Finish" button to restart, take the disk out of the drive. If you don't your computer may try to boot to this non-bootable disk. It took me quite a while to get my computer straightened out after I didn't take the disk out. You'll go through loops of Windows trying to "diagnose" and "repair" the thing. Just take out the disk! After it re-boots and you launch the software, one of the early screens will show the version number in small characters. Write this number down. It will help you keep track of the updates you are about to do. (For example, mine was "301b37a"). When the software finally opens at the Home page, click on the SUPPORT tab above the video preview screen. Then select "Search for updates" (or similar). A new window will open shortly telling you your software status, current or out of date. It will offer you a patch or an updater. Double click it and follow the bouncing ball! NOTE: some of these patches will tell you to close the program before you run the patch. Others will automatically close the program. It may be advisable to observe that the program is closing before the patch runs. ALSO, I ran one direct from the download and it did not take. (I checked the version number of the software, as above.) However, on the next attempt, I saved it and then ran it from the save, and it worked fine. (You are offered these options.) Save with "replace existing". You'll see. Each time you restart and launch the software after an update is applied, click on the update search again. Keep repeating this until you get a message generally saying your software is up to date, or there are no updates available. Good luck. I may be back seeking help for myself!

The repair install failed. I've attached all the log files. However, the software still appears to be working. And in the same way: no audio on DVDs created with MyDVD, and non-functional menus in that program. Keep and use a copy of the installer you downloaded, and do the repair from that. The setup stub phones home, and decrements your install counter while it downloads another copy.

Ach. Never mind. I've still got the full installer downloaded by that stub. I'll attempt it from there a little later today, and report back.

A decade building consumer operating systems convinced me it's a really bad idea to install commercial software without the anti-virus on. However, I'm willing to try with the anti-virus turned off. I installed by download from the Roxio web site -- can I do a repair install using the RoxioCreatorNXT7_Setup stub? (I would have expected the backup install DVD I ordered when I upgraded to NXT7 to have arrived by now, but it hasn't.)

It is a bad idea to have your antivirus enabled during the install of any software. It may block some needed parts to be installed. If you haven't already done so, shut off your antivirus and do a repair on the software from the program disc. Do not do a reinstall because those are limited. Since you have WINDOWS 7, the dxdiag did not give us the information I was looking for. I forget how to get the information on the crashes and hangs of your system. I'll try to look it up but someone may beat me to it. In the mean time, your computer is woefully out of date. Try updating the drivers for your audio card an see it that helps. If not, update the rest of your computer's drivers. Additionally, your computer is woefully underpowered for this video editing program. Make sure nothing else is running when you are doing video editing and that you have cleaned your hard drives of stuff that you don't use.

VHS to DVD 3 Plus stuttering while recording

Can you provide us with some more details of how you are hooked up to your TV?. Does it work OK when you are using a tape from your VHS player?.

Yes, I had anti-virus (AVG) active during installation, but had no alerts happened during the install process. The fact that the settings menus (both File > Project Settings and Tools > Settings) are images only with no active buttons suggests that SOMETHING was wonky in the installation. (Incidentally, Help > About says "build 3.0.0.8" for what that's worth.) I've attached the output DxDiag.txt. DxDiag.txt

Well that blows that idea of of the water !. How about posting the Windows dxdiag.exe evaluation of your computer. The text file and not the entire line by line. It may give us some hint about your equipment. Also did you have your anti-virus active during the install of this program?

    Unsuccessful video file conversion

I watched a couple tutorials, I can't see anything I'm doing wrong. But I am trying to convert a .mov file to an MPG-4 file. The video is selected in the window, I hit the convert button use the mpeg-4 player preset. It looks like everything is running nicely then the file size says zero bytes, and won't open. This seems to be the same with any of the presets I choose.

    Can't burn

Has anyone received any answers to this issue? I have the same issue. I even get the message 3/4 way through when burning to an ISO - no dvd drive used. Looks like they haven't bothered to test with Mohave.... at all.
