    Opening old project files

With what program did you create the "older" project files? It seems that your " Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 Premier. " simply does not recognize those old files. myDVD project files have the extension "dmsd"

The inscription on the disc is "Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 Premier." When I attempt to open a .dvd file from the directory, an error message "bad file type:only dmsd supported." Opening old project files

Hello, There were a number of V9 softwares in the field around 2006 onwards, but I don't know of a "MyDvd Creator v9 Premier". Can you tell me exactly what the software is that you're running, please? Then I can see if I have it and if I can help you. With the software running, at the top of the main menu you should see a Help button. Clicking that should give you options which include "About this Software". Selecting that should bring up a Roxio box with your software details, like this: Would you tell me please, the Name in full, Version, and build that is shown on yours? Lastly, which operating system are you running it in, please? Regards, Brendon

    Video not connected

Hey, forgive me. This project is driving me crazy. It's just been one thing after another. Any thoughts at all??

    Video not connected

The system is working. It's recording. I just cannot see it. I can hear it, and when I stop recording, the video is there for editing. BUT, when it is recording, a black screen telling me that the 'video is not connected'.

With all do respect, are you connected to the OUTPUT of the VHS (usually on the back)

    Video not connected

Okay! On the video machine there are 3 coloured ports; red, white. yellow. The video machine came with 3 wires attached to each other; one red, one white, one yellow. These wires had 'male' ends on both ends. I plugged the yellow wire into the yellow port on the vhs machine. I plugged the other end of the yellow wire into the Dazzle hardware, choosing the yellow port. I connected yellow with yellow. I then did the exact same thing with the white wire, and the red wire. I then rechecked it; yes it was hooked correctly; red to red, yellow to yellow, white to white at both ends. I then plugged in the USB end of the Dazzle into one of the USB ports on my computer. Is this what you were looking for???? With all due respect, it's pretty straight forward!!!
  11. Need some advice on how to open some older .dvd project files with MyDvd Creator v9 Premier. Here is an example screen shot of an archived folder.

Tell us "exactly" how you have got everything connected?.... to what, with what!

    Video not connected

I have just recently purchased Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3 Plus. The connections are hooked up correctly. The video is being downloaded to my computer through the Roxio unit. I can hear the audio, and when I go to replay, the VHS is being recorded. I just cannot see it as it records. The video display page remains black. Any thoughts?
  15. My Canon PowerShot A1200 produces a .mov video file when imported into older Roxio software, videowave they have no audio. I run them through 'Any Video converter' sometimes changing the format and they import fine with audio. A good codec tool is GSpot, https://www.headbands.com/gspot/ ● Establishes what codecs (audio and video) are required to play an media file. ● Determines whether these codecs are installed on your system. ● Isolates problems associated with these codecs. ● Isolates problems associated with media files ● Shows framerate, duration, aspect ratio, bitrates, "hidden" info, and more.
  16. I always like to view extensions and once in a great while uncheck the "hide protected file" when doing some trouble shooting. I am seeing some codec issues with older and new files that I am working around. What examples are you referring to above as "Any video converter"?

    Learning center not working

Hi Jim, Thanks very much for that info. I can't think why they don't download from the Learning Center, unless you've got some sort of pop-up blocker operating. Even then that wouldn't explain it, since the links I posted are straight out of the Learning Center coding and so the PDFs are coming from the same Roxio site if you get them through the L.C. or via my links. Very strange - perhaps through the possible tangle of C2012 and NXT4 ?? [wild guesses!] If the PDFs open in Edge as they download, that could be the way your browser is set to display them, so you should examine your browser settings. If, when you double-click the previously downloaded file they open in Edge, then your 'file associations' are set wrong. Hope that helps. Are there any PDFs you still need to find? Brendon

    Learning center not working

The PDFs do not download from the Learning Center screen in either NXT4 or Roxio 2012. Yes, they will download from your links but, they open in Microsoft edge not Foxit. Jim

    Learning center not working

Hi Jim, (It's Brendon, not Brandon) We still haven't solved why your learning center PDFs aren't downloading and appearing properly, and you still haven't told me if you can download and display them from my links, above. (Other people tell me they can use the above links, so we're trying to solve whatever is interfering in your machine) Do the PDFs download from the Learning Center screen? Do they download from my links? You seem to have some 'file association' problems if they sometimes start Edge and appear in there instead of Foxit, or are we mis-communicating? In either case, I'm keen to keep going and help you with these problems. Please answer those two questions above. Finally, you seem to be indicating that you have both NXT4 and Creator 2012 installed on your machine. I think that might cause a tangle, but since NXT4 can only be installed a limited number of times I'm not game to waste an install by trying to install them both on one machine, just to see if there's a tangle. :) However if there are any PDFs you can see, that you want but can't get, please let me know and I'll try to get them for you. Regards, Brendon
  20. I just purchased Toast 18 and when I load a DVD I've burned there are two menus superimposed on one another (see attached). The "Main" menu doesn't work (I can't access it) but the player controls do work for the "ghost" menu. Any ideas on how to fix this for future DVDs?

Mac Music library updates don't show

Since upgrading to MacOS Catalina, updates to my Music (ex-iTunes) library no longer flow through to the Audio list of folders and files in Toast 17. This is true both for adds and changes of both files and folders. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks much!
  23. That error is a condition of your PC not the software! Could you post a shot of your system specs like below?
  24. To What "memory" is this message referring? Little memory is being used by all components of the computer, 2 small MPEG2 files of two to 3 minutes only to be burnt to DVD. have closed MyDVD and rebooted twice with no change. What does "E_RPLS_" mean? New discs were tried also.
  25. JSJR states he already renamed the vob's to mog
  26. You need to look at your setting like I outlined above, "Hide Extensions For Known File Types". Uncheck this, and click Apply and OK. If so rename them correctly. We then have options to run them through 'Any Video Convertor' that has fixed non-compliant video files for myself and several others.
  27. The problem is not with the extension but VOB files themselves (I'm guessing) . The problem DVDs were created with old Sonic MYDVD06 and RecordNow7. ALL DVD's play on my TV DVD, but the OLD DVD's won't play on my computer w/ VLC software. When I rename the old VOB files to .mpg I can play them perfecting with Windows Media Player. The files have a problem in VideoWave , but as you can see from my last post they can only be displayed in MYDVD. Right now I can cast ALL video files to my FireTV which is what I wanted to do. So technically I am satisfied at this point. If I could find another software to convert the renamed files to a true .mpg I might be able to edit or update them in VideoWave?
  28. For some reason Windows is set up by default to hide the file extensions that it knows about. This way, "letter.doc" shows as just "letter". This is nice if you want a tidy display, but makes it hard for you to tell if "letter" is a .DOC file, or a .TXT file or even an .EXE file which will execute when you click on it. This setting also makes it impossible to change the extension which has been hidden. If you renamed "letter" above to "letter.txt" it would look like what you wanted, but it would really be "letter.txt.doc" which wouldn't help you. If you need to rename VOB files into MPG to import them, here is what you should do. -Make a new folder on your hard drive, and in Windows copy the VOB files to that new folder. -To make the extensions visible, open the folder and go to the tool bar, Tools / Folder Options / View. -in the box which opens is a setting "Hide Extensions For Known File Types". Uncheck this, and click Apply and OK. -if you intend to do this again, click on the "Apply to All Folders" button to set and forget it. Now rename the large vob files, example 1.mpg, 2.mpg and so on. Make sure they're in the form (filename.mpg) as the dot or period before mpg is a must! As soon as you complete the renaming, Windows should see them as Movie File (mpeg) and they should import properly.
