Historically, Roxio, and Adaptec before them, did not concern themselves with being backwards compatible, at least with their Creator application. Most releases were not compatible with the prior release build files. The ability to open such files with subsequent versions always fell on deaf ears.

I have been a Mac user since 1984, and a Toast user since Toast 5. I bought the latest and greatest, and it won't open. I have had my iMac checked, deleted and re-installed T17. And now I have contacted Support and will be receiving an email at some point... miss the days of talking to someone helpful right away. Has anyone else had this problem (2015 iMac, High Sierra 10.13.)? Here is the header for the lengthy error readout I get on trying to open Toast 17: Process: Toast Titanium [3746] Path: /Applications/Toast 17 Titanium/Toast Titanium.app/Contents/MacOS/Toast Titanium Identifier: com.roxio.Toast Version: 17 [5379] (17) Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: ??? I neglected to read the above note from hermie54 before posting my last response. While ProRes422 indeed is used for editing, it's also been long recommended to me as the preferred .mov choice for a FCP X Master file. I've been doing so for years and the AVCHD discs I've burned always are excellent. So it does, in fact, "work" with earlier versions of Toast. When FCP "Share to disc" is working, I usually let it do the job. But occasionally, usually after an IOS or FCP software update, it breaks (always near deadline) and I fall back on Toast 14. As previously mentioned, 14 Pro still works with ProRes422 .mov files from FCP but 17 currently does not. My FCP AVCHD discs are projected on a large screen before an audience of 100 or so and I want all the resolution I reasonably can get. That's why I've always gone with ProRes422. I also burn additional AVCHDs and standard DVDs for very limited distribution. However, I'm thinking now that I'll simply project my original Master .mov file via a laptop and hope Toast 17 gets "fixed" or my copy of Toast 14 continue to hang in there for disc production.

Hi Lamberto, Firstly, may I suggest you change your log-in name to something else than your email address. These forums are scanned by all sorts of 'bots which harvest addresses, and I would hate to see yours harvested and sold to someone who will pester you with lots of spam emails. Videowave in NXT 7 claims to deal with .MTS files, and a large number of other formats. Here is the file input area . . . Since I don't have any .MTS files to test with, would you please attach one or two small ones (just a couple of seconds will do) to a reply, so that I can test that Videowave itself is faulty and not just something wrong with your machine? Regards, Brendon

They are still there in Toast 17 - you just have to turn them back on in Preferences. Preferences -> Audio tab -> tick "Show advanced audio mastering settings". - Mike J

Jaikoz gets data from Musicbrainz, for instance. The same site also has SongKong, which might help out. See: http://www.jthink.net/jaikoz/

If you import your music from iTunes, then the tracks can already have meta data from Gracenote. Stand-alone meta data taggers can consult Gracenote/CDDB to add the information details to the tracks.

I have the same issue. I trashed Toast17 and re-installed. No difference. I can't burn a BluRay either. In this case Pro17 reports a huge file to burn many times bigger than the source file. I'm on a Mac running Mojave. *Caution * if you completely trash Toast it all trashes for BluRay Plugin! And since I hadn't registered it I had to buy another for $9.99 plus tax. I'll check whether this now allows me to create a BluRay disk.

Robteg, have you seen this page over on the Corel site? They suggest burning the movie as a data disc.

So are the developers going to actually update toast 16 pro so it is 64 bit compatable by the time the next Mac OS rolls out.....which is probably only 6 weeks or so away(July?) Why can’t Roxio tech support themselves just answer with a simple yes/no/we are on to it response to this question? How hard is it for one of them to maybe just ask one of the developers? A bit too hard, much to ask for coupled with/based on my recent non resolved case/ticket support dealings with tech support. Even if they could at least tell customers that “it’s in the pipeline?”...rather than leaving us in limbo like they are doing. J

Scott: Understand this is NOT Corel/Roxio support!!! This is a site where users work together and are not inclined to provide an answer when they don't know I played with the audio distortion question just now and have posted my findings in your Topic duct: Please use that link for this audio discussion as it is a completely different topic than what you started here

Truthfully, I never installed NXT 6 I am installing it now on a Win 10 pc and will dabble with this and see what I come up with. But keep working with Roxio Support as well. Since it is a new feature, they will have more experience with it than I do!

Try the Repair option of install. Also contact Roxio Support! Keep us updated and check back to see if others have any suggestions

The black rectangle is a preview frame from the clip, and as such is also a button (select it for playback on the final disc). You can set which frame to use in the Edit window by double-clicking a clip in the main window, then using a slider (not very precise, I know), then Set Picture. It is probably black for you, as the first frame (default) of your clip is black (as it often is). Alternatively, there are some themes (menu templates) that have no preview frame, like Splash. The ‘My Movie’ text in the menu, is the menu title. You can edit that with Customize in the right side panel, then the Menus tab.

Thanks, Redwagon - VLC did the job for now

You could ask 'Ton' for a refund. Even if past the 30 day window, growl a bit and they might respond. NXT 2 will work on Windows OS's prior to Win 8. NXT 3 seems to work fine on Win 8 & 10 even though it is not certified for those Operating Systems. Still, I always urge people to concentrate on the content of video! People do not load a disc into a player to look at the menu

Sadly they really did simplify it to the point of being next to useless The things you cite are gone. Creator 2012 is one of the best but only a eBay item these days and you have to be careful that you get the Product Key with it!

The ‘plugin’ is the same for v11–v16. It doesn’t add to Toast, but unlocks an ability in the main app (Toast Titanium/MyDVD). The same ‘plugin’ can work slightly differently in subsequent versions. v16 added manually enabling it and an online check. Hence my advice to dackman.

You will have to join them in VideoWave (Edit Video - Advanced) first, then use the Export As or Prepare for Authoring to create a file that the new and improved (sarcasm) MyDVD can use. You can do this in Video Copy and Convert as well without the file creation first BUT only if you want a No Menu project. If you want a Menu project in VCC it will create a button for each clip added

No, sorry. I don't think it can be done in this version. As you will have seen, the Express Labeler is very simplified and totally unsuitable for your job. The Roxio Label Creator will read and save the names of 56 tracks, but getting them all displayed so you can read 'em just isn't going to happen. (I got 62 in here) Some earlier Roxio labelers could do twin columns, but this one doesn't. [and NXT 6 doesn't even have labelers at this point] About the only way I can think of is to type your 56 track names into a word processor and put them into two columns. Then cut and paste, or take a screen shot of that page, trim the resulting JPG and drop it onto Roxio Label Creator, dimensioning it to fit the back of the CD case. That seems a lot of fluffing around and hard work, though. Regards, Brendon

I just downloaded creator NXT pro 5.....had been using Roxi 2012 and upgraded hoping the quality of the DVDs would be less grainy. (Original feed was crystal clear). Trying to burn DVD with new product. Previously, I could click the DVD icon and without menues, click the burn button directly. Now I see "PREPARE FOR AUTHORING" and create video file. Have been searching help and can't find how to "burn" from this program. What am I missing?

I need to create a DVD that auto plays and loops in a DVD player. I cant seem to figure it out with MyDVD. I have Roxio Creator NXT 5. What am I missing? It was easy enough with an old mac that I had and iDVD.

This update/download 10 ver. 10.1.226 (Build : 112B62A, R03) does not offer any new features. If your current version is working without problems, I would leave well enough alone! cd

I had exactly the same problem after working for days on my production. I had upgraded my Nvidia drivers at the Dell sight to no avail. This morning I saw Larry's posting and followed his advice. I went to the Nvidia sight and got a brand new driver (July '07) and to Microsoft to ugrade DirectX. I restarted then double clicked on my project to start MyDVD and bingo it worked. I was able to burn my project. Thanks Larry! Terry

Yes, delete the orignal music; click to edit your menu background image/video and extend the length to the length of the music; add the music save. Click the menu duration and set that to the length of the music. There are several posts on how to do this; use the search function for more details.
