I have been a Mac user since 1984, and a Toast user since Toast 5. I bought the latest and greatest, and it won't open. I have had my iMac checked, deleted and re-installed T17. And now I have contacted Support and will be receiving an email at some point... miss the days of talking to someone helpful right away. Has anyone else had this problem (2015 iMac, High Sierra 10.13.)? Here is the header for the lengthy error readout I get on trying to open Toast 17: Process: Toast Titanium [3746] Path: /Applications/Toast 17 Titanium/Toast Titanium.app/Contents/MacOS/Toast Titanium Identifier: com.roxio.Toast Version: 17 [5379] (17) Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: ??? So are the developers going to actually update toast 16 pro so it is 64 bit compatable by the time the next Mac OS rolls out.....which is probably only 6 weeks or so away(July?) Why can’t Roxio tech support themselves just answer with a simple yes/no/we are on to it response to this question? How hard is it for one of them to maybe just ask one of the developers? A bit too hard, much to ask for coupled with/based on my recent non resolved case/ticket support dealings with tech support. Even if they could at least tell customers that “it’s in the pipeline?”...rather than leaving us in limbo like they are doing. J

For the ‘main’ Toast application: Subtitles - unchanged: no support for adding your own Disc format - seems to remember it, but must match content (i.e. DVD-Video remembers DVD or DVD DL, but not other sizes, which I find logical) Menu style - unchanged: defaults to Splash when opening a project file (.disc) For the MyDVD application: Subtitles - no support for adding your own Disc format - reverts to single layer when saved with DL setting Menu style - remembers the theme when opening a project file (.MyDVD)

I posted a description on May 8, 2018 of a problem I was having with the audio being corrupted in Video Wave... (Video Wave Audio "Fuzzy"). I attached a audio file of a sample of what my problem sounded like. Granted this was towards the end of the video and the audio's distortion increased as the Video's length increased. Is this the sort of problem you are having now in addition to your earlier issue? Best regards, Scott

Problem is that Jim has only just installed, and has run into the problem before he has had time to use the suite. It doesn't seem that a clean uninstall is likely to help him at this point, and there may be something wrong with the program as delivered.

Well I got it installed... Tried with NO updates and VideoWave locks up at some point with the Motion Video Editor running. Tried with both Hardware and Software Rendering. No change. Added SP1 and tried again after a reboot. No change, VW locks up. Added SP2 and again, no change Did you hear from Support?

Truthfully, I never installed NXT 6 I am installing it now on a Win 10 pc and will dabble with this and see what I come up with. But keep working with Roxio Support as well. Since it is a new feature, they will have more experience with it than I do!

The black rectangle is a preview frame from the clip, and as such is also a button (select it for playback on the final disc). You can set which frame to use in the Edit window by double-clicking a clip in the main window, then using a slider (not very precise, I know), then Set Picture. It is probably black for you, as the first frame (default) of your clip is black (as it often is). Alternatively, there are some themes (menu templates) that have no preview frame, like Splash. The ‘My Movie’ text in the menu, is the menu title. You can edit that with Customize in the right side panel, then the Menus tab.

File size is not that important, it is the time length that matters most. In what format is that video? A standard 4.3 GB DVD can only hold about 60 minutes of best quality video. Reduce the bitrate until the video will fit on the DVD. If you have a menu then you will have to consider that also

You could ask 'Ton' for a refund. Even if past the 30 day window, growl a bit and they might respond. NXT 2 will work on Windows OS's prior to Win 8. NXT 3 seems to work fine on Win 8 & 10 even though it is not certified for those Operating Systems. Still, I always urge people to concentrate on the content of video! People do not load a disc into a player to look at the menu

Sadly they really did simplify it to the point of being next to useless The things you cite are gone. Creator 2012 is one of the best but only a eBay item these days and you have to be careful that you get the Product Key with it!

The ‘plugin’ is the same for v11–v16. It doesn’t add to Toast, but unlocks an ability in the main app (Toast Titanium/MyDVD). The same ‘plugin’ can work slightly differently in subsequent versions. v16 added manually enabling it and an online check. Hence my advice to dackman.

Broskimode, I haven't seen any release notes for that ServicePack, but perhaps Corel will update the 'Updates' page eventually - if they still do that. The SP2.1 updates the program to version 102B22A The SP3.0 updates it to 102B26A. This doesn't look like much of a number change, but the updater uninstalls large chunks of the program and then reinstalls new chunks, so a lot has been replaced. The updater has about 175MB devoted to GameHD_1x, about 16MB devoted to CPDecoderpack, and about 3MB each to GameCapHD_USB x64 and x86. Given the amount changed, it might take them a time to write up the release notes Hope this helps . . .

Your source files work fine on your friend's machine, so there's nothing wrong with them. There is something wrong with your machine, and changing/reinstalling the software hasn't fixed it yet. Rather than trying an entire new Operating System [There be DRAGONS!!] I think you should work on getting your Windows 7 straight again. Windows 7 is a good, mature Operating System, and if a system develops a fault you should never hope to fix it by 'upgrading' your software. If I remember correctly, NXT2 only allows you 10 installs before your key expires (it doesn't care about Repairs) so don't go uninstalling/reinstalling unnecessarily. It would be useful for you to clean the machine up (logically) as Cdanteek suggested. This is worth the time it takes, and should be done regularly to keep the machine 'lean and clean.' The steps are Startup, Cleanup, Defrag, and Scan. - First check the programs which run when Windows starts, and disable any that aren't absolutely necessary. Run MSCONFIG.EXE and uncheck unnecessary programs in the Startup tab. Reboot Windows, and it will start without those things running. - Right-click on your hard drive in your File Explorer, and select Properties. Then click on Disk Cleanup, and in the box which appears, click Cleanup System Files. Windows will do some calculations, and when you give it the go-ahead will delete all the old garbage it indicates. I usually tick all the boxes and delete everything it allows. It's amazing how much there can be. -Once you've done that, go back to Properties (first picture) again and click Tools. Then click on Defragment now, and go do something else while the hard drive is defragmented. It might take hours but it will be worth it, and it won't take so long next time. -Now your system is lean and clean, you should make sure that this problem isn't caused by broken Windows files. Open a CMD window with Admin privileges, and type the command sfc /scannow <enter>. The system will scan its vital organs and replace any corrupted files. You might need your Windows 7 disc handy. Exit the CMD window when finished. If you do all the above things your system should be running properly. Please ask if you have difficulty following my instructions. Brendon

Audio CDs are written differently to disc compared to Data CDs, and that gives a information density advantage (2352 bytes/sector vs. 2048 bytes/sector), meaning 86 minutes of 44.1 kHz 16-bit stereo PCM audio take up 910 MB on your hard disk, but that is comparable to the same amount of CD-R sectors as 793 MB of data, hence fitting on 800 MiB discs. If your audio files total more than that 910 MB (868 MiB), then perhaps some of those files are not 44.1 kHz 16-bit stereo. Toast, and most Audio-CD burning apps, will convert audio to that specification. There is no need for intermediate conversions. Standard Audio CDs are always uncompressed. (Some players may be able to play compressed files from a data CD, though.) You should trust the “90 mins” for the disc as really having (close to) that capacity for Audio CD. However, 90 minute CD-R is non-standard, and Toast may or may not be able to use its full capacity: it may register as lesser duration and I think Toast has no ‘overburn’ capability (write data beyond registered limit).

You will have to join them in VideoWave (Edit Video - Advanced) first, then use the Export As or Prepare for Authoring to create a file that the new and improved (sarcasm) MyDVD can use. You can do this in Video Copy and Convert as well without the file creation first BUT only if you want a No Menu project. If you want a Menu project in VCC it will create a button for each clip added

No, sorry. I don't think it can be done in this version. As you will have seen, the Express Labeler is very simplified and totally unsuitable for your job. The Roxio Label Creator will read and save the names of 56 tracks, but getting them all displayed so you can read 'em just isn't going to happen. (I got 62 in here) Some earlier Roxio labelers could do twin columns, but this one doesn't. [and NXT 6 doesn't even have labelers at this point] About the only way I can think of is to type your 56 track names into a word processor and put them into two columns. Then cut and paste, or take a screen shot of that page, trim the resulting JPG and drop it onto Roxio Label Creator, dimensioning it to fit the back of the CD case. That seems a lot of fluffing around and hard work, though. Regards, Brendon

Many of you have had issues with creating PhotoShows. It is broken and won;t be fixed. Some people have asked if there was another program similar to PhotoShow. I finally found one Corel's Fast Flicks. It will take both images (photos) and some videos ! It is cheap, easy and has pretty much everything PhotoShow has except for the web site to share the Shows. If you use social media, then that is not a problem. I use YouTube (up to about 15 minute shows) and have them unlisted so only those I that I send the link to can see the. Watch the Fast Flicks Fast Flick as a stand alone cost $15 to $20 depending on if it is on sale or comes included with Corel's Video Studio X7 or with Roxio's Creator NXT 3. There are only a few templates available but more are available. (example). I have not searched for others (sale page) Here are the specs. For some reason, the image is very small but I can read it: I can;'t find another image of this. Video input can be AVCHD, Mpg2, Mov and others. More to come.

Thank you for your reply. I am perplexed however about Roxio/Corel's "honesty". I paid $25 for a One-Time Priority Support. The reply email I received from Ralf Jayrald Corel Customer Support Services asked me to post to this Toast 12 site. I didn't understand why but I so posted. I assumed I would have a dialog with a Roxio/Corel employee to discuss my issue/problem. Today when I checked the status on my Priority Support request I see it is marked Closed and I never had a reply from a Roxio employee, for which I paid $25. I wrote a reply to an email from their "support" asking about such but they have not replied. I see by my invoice that Roxio has an address in Funchal - Madeira, Portugal. I wonder about corporate "core competency" if the only reply to my $25 request is a well meaning guess from a fellow Toast-user. I naively hoped there would be a responsible employee that would know where metadata is hidden on my computer. Let the buyer beware for Roxio products.... regards

After selecting Remove menu audio, right click the title button. Does it show Edit menu background as one of the options? Select that option. On the Timeline view of the newly opened window, click on the object in the Video track. Copy it and paste as many times such that the total duration of the video track is as long as the duration of the intended audio. Now, add the audio in the Music track. Then press the Back to menu button. Just an expanded version of what was already advised to you above.

I had exactly the same problem after working for days on my production. I had upgraded my Nvidia drivers at the Dell sight to no avail. This morning I saw Larry's posting and followed his advice. I went to the Nvidia sight and got a brand new driver (July '07) and to Microsoft to ugrade DirectX. I restarted then double clicked on my project to start MyDVD and bingo it worked. I was able to burn my project. Thanks Larry! Terry
