hey ! just wanted you to know you are not the only one having problems with Toast19 and MACOS Big Sur ( I was already having problems with T18 and Catalina) ... You are not Alone in your frustration :-)

Historically, Roxio, and Adaptec before them, did not concern themselves with being backwards compatible, at least with their Creator application. Most releases were not compatible with the prior release build files. The ability to open such files with subsequent versions always fell on deaf ears.

Hi, everyone, I am new to this Discussions group, but I just had to post as a long time user of Toast since 'Toast 5 Titanium'. Normally with each version of Toast has come changes to the user interface and as a professional graphic designer I have not always fully liked the design choices but understood that change is often necessary and felt that the interface was still within the limits of good design. However, I am most displeased with the current direction of the design of the user interface for Toast 19. It no longer feels like I am using Toast and I think if this is not drastically improved in Toast version 20, I will abandon the product despite being a long time fan. I am sure I am not the only person who feels this way about the design and I just don't understand the design decision with this. A lot of mac users are designers and I just feel that the design has cheapened the product somewhat. Also when I was installing the product on my MacBook Pro, the installer crashed. I have had a similar experience with the last Roxio Creator software for PC too, it was buggy and I didn't like the design of the software and subsequently removed from my PC and now have taken the decision to no longer update the software anymore. I would be willing to work with Roxio in the future to help improve the user interface and possibly lend a hand in designing it if need be to keep the product fresh and alive but as it stands I think this software is going downhill fast which is a real shame since it was a product I truly loved.

I agree completely but I need access to BluRay and DD 5.1 so I may be stuck. I'll check out the program you suggested. I have to be nice here because they like to block my posts so thats why when I found a work around.. and as you say, it's time consuming, I thought I'd share it. Obviously it won't work for you. Wish apple would release iBluRay based on the iDVD engine.

Maybe try downloading from the link in the email that Roxio sent you when you purchased the product? A link like that will usually procure the latest version.

I know this is many years later, but stopping "verify data" also fixed this for me. Problem started with a dodgy disc. It's gone since I altered that. Thanks!

Don't you ever get rid of old files? Free space, especially on your system drive may be a problem You should get rid of the programs/files you don't use anymore. Take a look at the error messages near the bottom of that txt file. There are a lot probably related to disc space. There are also some related to Roxio which may be giving you some of the problems you are experiencing. Other than that, the computer will run the program. You may want to look at some of the posts related to multicam editing on the Corel Users group. Go here and look around.

This appears to be the same problem I experience with NXT6. I have spent MONTHS with tech support. All of their suggestions are WORTHLESS. I even created screen captures to prove what is going on. They (tech support) continually feign ignorance to attempt to close the inquiry number. Interestingly, I finally came across one tech who mentioned this is a common complaint. Here is what I discovered - for whatever reason when the program creates the audio proxy file, it creates a “corrupted” proxy audio file. The longer the video to be edited, the more fuzzy/corrupt the sound will progressively become. It is clearly a problem with how the program extracts audio from the video when it creates the proxy file. They may have hard coded an improper setting into the program or something. You can confirm this yourself by changing the default audio proxy directory in settings and then listening to the audio file it creates. I can’t figure out if the program uses the proxy file for rendering or if it creates another temporary (yet also corrupt) audio file. This is repeatable on multiple machines. An i9 - MacBook running windows duel boot - even my surface 4. All of them exhibit this behavior. I believe they use ffmpeg to extract, but I still don't know how it is called up for the conversation. This is entirely due to a poorly crafted program. I can replicate the problem with multiple machines and differing files. It is not your drivers (video or sound) - it is NOT a machine dependent problem. It is a bug that Roxio/Corel must address. I was hoping a fix would be issued by Roxio/Corel to take care of it. Contact tech support via email in this site. Let them log a complaint. https://www.roxio.com/en/support/

I have been a Mac user since 1984, and a Toast user since Toast 5. I bought the latest and greatest, and it won't open. I have had my iMac checked, deleted and re-installed T17. And now I have contacted Support and will be receiving an email at some point... miss the days of talking to someone helpful right away. Has anyone else had this problem (2015 iMac, High Sierra 10.13.)? Here is the header for the lengthy error readout I get on trying to open Toast 17: Process: Toast Titanium [3746] Path: /Applications/Toast 17 Titanium/Toast Titanium.app/Contents/MacOS/Toast Titanium Identifier: com.roxio.Toast Version: 17 [5379] (17) Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: ??? The only alternative to Gracenote is FreeDB.org, but I don’t think Toast can be changed to make use of that, but some stand-alone tagger applications may be able to set such. Does it work better if you use Toast’s Media Browser instead of drag-and-drop of the mounted disc through the Finder? That should help getting the information directly from iTunes.

I have the same issue. I trashed Toast17 and re-installed. No difference. I can't burn a BluRay either. In this case Pro17 reports a huge file to burn many times bigger than the source file. I'm on a Mac running Mojave. *Caution * if you completely trash Toast it all trashes for BluRay Plugin! And since I hadn't registered it I had to buy another for $9.99 plus tax. I'll check whether this now allows me to create a BluRay disk.

Robteg, have you seen this page over on the Corel site? They suggest burning the movie as a data disc.

You could ask 'Ton' for a refund. Even if past the 30 day window, growl a bit and they might respond. NXT 2 will work on Windows OS's prior to Win 8. NXT 3 seems to work fine on Win 8 & 10 even though it is not certified for those Operating Systems. Still, I always urge people to concentrate on the content of video! People do not load a disc into a player to look at the menu

Cassette deck output worked... had a few glitches with the software, but I'm up & running... I noticed the Video side uses the output from the VHS player, so this does make sense. But Roxio could improve the instructions.... Should say Cassette Deck, not Stereo Receiver. Thank you!

Lets start by you taking off your cap locks and type in lower case. Look under Video for a DVD Author application that is what you need to do for it to work on a settop DVD player. Video Easily import photos or video into your PC Create home movies with professional transitions, motion menus and music Burn Video CDs, SVCDs or DVDs Play them back on your home DVD player

Yes, delete the orignal music; click to edit your menu background image/video and extend the length to the length of the music; add the music save. Click the menu duration and set that to the length of the music. There are several posts on how to do this; use the search function for more details.
