Have you ever connected a composite video output to an audio input by mistake? That's what it sounds like.

Yes, I know this, but apparently, Roxio apps on my PC are trying to play audio from the video track, at least that's what it sounds like.

I would want the Roxio apps to play audio from the AUDIO tracks, rather than trying to play audio from the VIDEO track in the .mpg. Maybe you're unaware that MPEG, AVI, MP4 and all other video files contain two tracks. I'm using; Media Player Classic, Cineplayer, VideoLAN, Winamp and Video Redo. All work just fine. I've already done what you suggested and even used http://www.ursoftware.com (Your Uninstaller) to completely wipe it out on a second attempt.

Files are .mpg - on a local hard drive. All Roxio programs (except Cineplayer) are affected by this stuttering static. It seems to me that the programs are trying to play audio from the video track. I have created an .ISO file and burned a DVD. Both were inflicted with this bad audio. On a side note, Nero Video works just fine to accomplish the tasks I had to do, but I'd really rather use VCC or MyDVD.

Jim, the affected 3 programs are listed (abbreviated) in the topic heading (should be VCC, sorry for the typo). Source = ANY (every) video file or folder. Settings = right out-of-box. During EDIT or Preview, audio is just sputtering static. I assume you've never heard of this before, so I have my doubts you have any idea of how to fix it. I haven't been able to find any other occurance of this problem, anywhere, by anyone else.

Win7(64), ASUS P6X58D. What else do you need to know? It used to work just fine on this PC 6 months ago. Now it's the only software with an audio (or ANY) problem of HUNDREDS of programs installed.
  7. ...during "edit mode" and "preview"...and it burns that way too. Files play fine in all other programs. Tried reinstalling, repair, etc. I'm stumped!
