I was having some issues with MyDVD while working on projects and encoding issues with HD productions.
Anyway, I was told by Roxio support that it was due to the lack of a video card.
I was able use a friend's computer that was an XPS 8700 desktop with a Nvidia 1 GB video card.
While working on the project I didn't encounter as many freezes, etc. with the better computer. However the encoding for a 45 minute production took (3.5-4 hours) to encode.
What's strange was that on my computer that didn't have the video card the encoding went really fast, although the quality wasn't great. And both computers have the same CPU.
Why does it take so long on the one that is more "geared" toward video editing?
i also noticed that the XPS is only using about 50% of the CPU while encoding, yet the desktop without the video card uses about 90% of the CPU and encodes faster (per the Task Manager)
