  1. Thank you myguggi, yes, I already use Audacity and MP3Gain and I'm aware that there are some good free converters out there as well. As I said in my previous post, If I need to do anything which Creator cannot, then yes, I will find a suitable (free) program and use that. Thanks again
  2. Thanks Dave and sknis. The video codecs you suggested, Dave, are now bookmarked for future use. No, sknis, I didn't know that the SE edition was crippled in any way. Maybe, as you and cdanteek suggest, I should not try to add anything to the program and if I need to convert something which isn't covered by Creator, then I should find a dedicated converter possibly like 'anyconverter' which Dave suggested. I think that this is the time to quit whilst I am still ahead and once again thank you all for your, and everyone else's, help. I hope that if someone else has the same or similar problems, this thread may help them as well. Many thanks to you one and all.
  3. Well, seeing as the only formats available in the conversion window are - iPod ACC MP3 in good or low quality WAV WMA in good or low quality There is flac, ogg vorbis, ape and quite a few others which people use.
  4. Just thought. Could I please ask just one more question? Could anyone tell me where I can get Audio and Video codecs from, for converting one format to another? I totally forget where I got them from last time. Many thanks again.
  5. OK. Firstly, yes 'cdanteek', I "Got It", at least, I got what your username is, didn't help me to find mine though. I think my previous post, where I said I realised it asked for username, would have told you I knew where to put it! Thanks to 'myguggi' for the hint to look at what other folders show under "C:\Users". I found two folders, one named 'public', the other with a shortened version of my computer name, which I then guessed was what 'cdanteek' was referring to. Thanks for that. So. I finally got DirectX 9 installed. I then deleted the folder of files I copied from the disk, created another folder and copied the files again just in case. I then deleted all files from the Roxio file in %appdata%. I then turned off my antivirus, (as I did the last couple of failed attempts), just to be sure. I then clicked on 'SetUp' in my Creator folder to try once again. Yeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! It worked. Roxio Creator Special Edition 2011 is now working!! So, many thanks to everyone who offered help and support. I've learned a lot thanks to the gentle explanations and prompts of those who realize I struggle sometimes through lack of the knowledge they have. Thanks again guys, couldn't have done it without you.
  6. OK. I copy pasted the location you said - C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Temp - into the startup. It then said that there was "no folder of that name and did I want to create one", I clicked on 'Yes' and it then said it could not create a folder of that name. Nowhere to go. Edit to say - I just realised that it says 'your username' in the link. DUH!!! When you say 'your username, what exactly do you mean? I've tried using the computer name but that didn't work. Sorry, I did say at the beginning I need more detailed instructions. You know what you mean, unfortunately, I don't.
  7. OK cdanteek, I've just downloaded DirectX 9 from Microsoft as per link. The problem is now, when running the program it asks me to type "the location where to place the DirectX extracted file". I've gone to >Start. >search programs and files, and could not find where DirectX11 is so I haven't a clue where to put the DirectX 9. Also, If I did run the file, would DX9 overwrite DX11 and mess up other programs I have installed? That is something I really don't want to happen.
  8. Could it be because, as I said in my original post, it is a new install I am running DirectX v11 when the program is trying to install DirectX v9? Maybe Creator Special Edition 2011 does not like DirectX 11. Maybe it will not install under DX11 but will run under it if updated after the install. Just my thoughts following Brendons findings.
  9. Strangely enough, before I ran the program from the folder, I did actually delete all previous files from the %appdata% folder just to be sure I was sending you the right data.
  10. Hi everyone OK, I did what Jim suggested. I copied all files from disc into a folder and double clicked on setup. It failed again. I found the zip file in the Roxio setup log and have attached it to this post. Just in case that didn't work, I've copy pasted the bit just befor it failed and everything after it. 11. Thanks again Dave, your instructions are most welcome. I have just done as you said and attached one of the logs I found. Hope that helps
  12. Dave, thank you for that explanation, it makes more sense now. I take it for granted that I have to do that after I've tried to install the program from the disc and after it's failed and rolled back, otherwise there would be no log would there? Super quote from the great Brian Wilson, by the way.
  13. Thank you Jim. edit to say oops... just realised you are not Jim, thanks to you anyway :-) That makes sense regarding turning off the antivirus and others. I had tried turning off AdBlock Plus but that didn't work. I'll have to try turning off every other utility whilst I try it. That link is also very good. I have bookmarked it, thank you. Do you think I really need to download and run the 'Safe Mode Install Services.Zip' file or should it be ok just going into the msconfig and doing as it says. I really don't like programs on my machine which I don't know about, especially with a nice clean new SSD.
  14. Good day Jim Thanks for your reply. Thank you, yes I know this is a peer to peer forum and have no illusions that anyone here works for Roxio. I'm afraid that when you say - "CD may have a better note than mine but I have - Type %APPDATA% to open the Roaming Folder then Roxio Log Files and you are after the ROXIO_SETUP.LOG (could be SONIC) You may have to Zip it to load it here as an attachment but try it first to see" - you are losing me, especially the first paragraph. I am one of those people who really need step by step instructions to do this sort of thing and even then am still nervous about it. I was hoping that someone may have encountered this problem and be able to say how they got round it. Also hoping that the answer would be something simple, like making sure that an earlier version of a program like directx or flash etc is loaded, or something like that. Can you think of anything else, in your experience, which may cause the problem? I haven't found anything else in these forums about it but I have seen you give advice many times so maybe you have seen something I have missed. Thanks again
  15. Anyone??? As my original post - I have just had a new SSD drive fitted in my pc with my Win 7 64bit home edition. On trying to load Creator 2011 Special Edition, it gets about 2/3 of the way through and then starts to roll back. The message given is "Your System Has Not Been Modified". I know that I have DirectX v11 installed and creator wants to load v9 but it gets past that before it goes wrong. Can anyone help to get Creator 2011 loaded Thanks
