SUCCESS! CUSTOM MENUS IN TOAST 18!

I have been trying to get this done for years and finally was able to make it happen. I have successfully managed to custom edit existing menu themes. The key is you can't change the theme name, so pick one of the themes you don't really use and go to town. To modify the menu you need to work with the groups that are inside the theme. I wanted to add 4 more lines so I could have 10 text lines on a Blu Ray menu. You can see in the attached image that I was able to do it. The Theme files are located inside: LIbrary/Application Support/Roxio/Toast Menu Styles. This is where I selected Layout 6 under Main Menu and right clicked and chose DUPLICATE GROUP, then renamed it to Layout 8 and did the same for Layout 10. Then I had to duplicate the Button Groups inside the layout to add buttons for 7,8,9 and 10. This is how the 10 movie looked after I was all done. You can change the background image the font etc. Here's the final result .. this is a screen capture from the actual burned Blu-Ray disc. I have done this editing to other themes as well so I can have 1, 2 and 4 items to the right so I can have a custom background image. Here's a snippet showing 4 images offset to the right. If you have any questions you can email me at: matt@thecaswells.net

Burn simple data files in Toast 19? Enhanced Audio?

Thanks for taking the time to post the solution. Many people will just post.. FIXED IT.. and won't say what they did! YOU ROCK!
  3. Sometimes change is NOT for the better. Many of us have been using TOAST for many years and the interface is what we're used to. Now you dumb it down to make it look like NERO or MyDVD and as far as I'm concerned you made a giant step backward. Even if you click on the "Use Classic" button, it's not really like the old interface, it's a hybrid of some sort. Toast 19 is NOT ready for prime time and it certainly isn't ready for anyone to spend their hard earned money on the upgrade! I sincerely hope COREL/ROXIO can put out a bug update and give us something that's usable.

    19 crashes under 11.0.1

I installed big sur on another drive and bought the upgrade to Toast 19. Not only did they kill the interface, it wants to re-encode everything and crashes. Guess I'll stay with Catalina and 18 for now.

AC3 file not importing with video

Toast 18 is finicky. It doesn't like anything other than H264 in 29.97 FPS. If you have 30 FPS or 60 FPS that could be the issue. I've spend hours and hours doing test burns with different settings and the only ones I've gotten to burn with AC3 have to be in 29.97 FPS.
  6. SUCCESS! I have spent the last 7 hours trying different combinations of settings to see if I can actually get a Blu Ray burned from a file that was created in OBS for Mac. I have included screenshots of the settings I used and when I was done massaging it, I was able to bring it into Toast 18 and it actually showed the correct file size and then I was able to burn a working Toast Disc Image and it DID NOT try and re-encode the file. I recorded it as .mkv as you can see in the settings.. then Using the program MKVtools, I changed the audio to AC3, 448 bit rate and saved it back to disk. Then I used tsMuxerGUI to convert it from .mkv to .m2ts and saved it back out. It seems that Toast doesn't like 30fps videos because it's looking for the NTSC default 29.97 fps. UPDATE: One thing I've noticed is now when I click on edit, the video isn't viewable, but the BluRay burns and plays just fine. When you click on EDIT in Toast Pro 17 it does show the video where you can set in and out marks for the burn. Seems like it's a V18 issue. Toast 17.4 (5589) Update Kills viewing video in the edit screen! I'm thinking the same thing happened in V18. I just successfully burned a Dual Layer Blu Ray with 28Gig of data on it. I hope these settings might give others some insight on how to get Toast 18 to work for them. Matt

Customizing DVD Menus in Toast 18 Pro on a Mac

That only allows you to change the background image I do believe. UPDATE: Just dragged and dropped a modified photoshop menu file and it only saves a 1 layer image.

  9. Used to be able to burn a blu ray without re-encoding H264 files.. Now no matter what I choose it wants to re-encode, and when I load a 4.5GB file or any file, it shows about 1/10th of the size and the image burn fails. I was really hoping they fixed it in 19 but I'm not going to spend $99 only to have to ask for a refund. I'll wait and watch the V19 threads.
  10. Thank you for your time to reply. Have a great day
  11. Can I ask if you burn blu rays and what windows program you use. My mac has 128GB ram and I run Win 10 under parallels for other software.
  12. Have you tried to burn a blu ray with 19? I'd be curious to know if you got any errors during the process. Thanks Matt
  13. I'm aware of that. I had purchased 18 and returned it.. then they told me they fixed the issues and I bought it again. Not fixed. The 30 day refund should be the exception, not the rule.
  14. I'm thinking about upgrading to Toast 19.. like I did from 15 to 16 to 17 and to 18... I"ve just about given up on getting a working version of toast to burn blu rays. I did get a message from Corel that said "Buy it.. if it doesn't work for you get a refund". Matthew Caswell, SMSgt, USAF (retired)
