SUCCESS! CUSTOM MENUS IN TOAST 18!

I have been trying to get this done for years and finally was able to make it happen. I have successfully managed to custom edit existing menu themes. The key is you can't change the theme name, so pick one of the themes you don't really use and go to town. To modify the menu you need to work with the groups that are inside the theme. I wanted to add 4 more lines so I could have 10 text lines on a Blu Ray menu. You can see in the attached image that I was able to do it. The Theme files are located inside: LIbrary/Application Support/Roxio/Toast Menu Styles. This is where I selected Layout 6 under Main Menu and right clicked and chose DUPLICATE GROUP, then renamed it to Layout 8 and did the same for Layout 10. Then I had to duplicate the Button Groups inside the layout to add buttons for 7,8,9 and 10. This is how the 10 movie looked after I was all done. You can change the background image the font etc. Here's the final result .. this is a screen capture from the actual burned Blu-Ray disc. I have done this editing to other themes as well so I can have 1, 2 and 4 items to the right so I can have a custom background image. Here's a snippet showing 4 images offset to the right. If you have any questions you can email me at: matt@thecaswells.net

AAC Audio won't burn in an MP4

Am I missing something? I know I'm not the sharpest tack in the box but you would think that a MAC program would accept AAC audio in a MP4 file and then if it needs to, convert it to whatever format it needs. It lets me load the mp4 file but it says its like 6 times the size. A 1.8 gb file shows up as 12gb etc. Is this in here somewhere or just another oversight that wasn't considered? I have attached an image of my screen for the convert option. The same thing happens if I try and burn this same file to a blu ray.

AAC Audio won't burn in an MP4

So it looks like Toast 19 will take AAC but it doesn't like MP4. If i can find out what mp4 format it likes I'll post it here. I used Movavi Video Converter Premium to convert to m2ts and it accepts it with the correct size. Movavi is a great program!

Cannot get rid of Welcome Window

I'm running Toast 19 on Big Sur 11.1. I had to fully remove any and all remnants of Toast 18 then reboot and then install Toast 19 to get it to work.
  5. Sometimes change is NOT for the better. Many of us have been using TOAST for many years and the interface is what we're used to. Now you dumb it down to make it look like NERO or MyDVD and as far as I'm concerned you made a giant step backward. Even if you click on the "Use Classic" button, it's not really like the old interface, it's a hybrid of some sort. Toast 19 is NOT ready for prime time and it certainly isn't ready for anyone to spend their hard earned money on the upgrade! I sincerely hope COREL/ROXIO can put out a bug update and give us something that's usable.

Why did ROXIO ruin a good interface?

Well, if they had added the ability to have custom menus and change the text etc. I would have gladly paid the upgrade price!

Roxio Toast 19 - Poor Interface, bad design

I HATE THE NEW INTERFACE. Why can't we choose which layout we want to default when it starts up?

SUCCESS! CUSTOM MENUS IN TOAST 18!

So I installed toast 19 in Big Sur 11.1 and it wouldn't start. I had toast 18 installed. Used Clean my Mac to remove all remnants of 18 and then rebooted and installed Toast 19 and it starts up just fine but I hate the new interface and it doesn't seem like there's any way to have it default to the old interface. Also, before doing this I went into Libary/Application Support/Roxit/ menus and copied the folder with my custom menus to a new drive. AFter installing I copied the menu's I modified into the new Toast 19 menus folder and wrote over the Toast 19 menus with the same name and they work just fine.

Nope! This is why I wish Apple had rewritten iDVD for blurays and 5.1. Toast will let you add movies, add basic static menus and burn discs.

SUCCESS! CUSTOM MENUS IN TOAST 18!

1-You can add a separate video, make it the first one in the list and select autoplay on insert and it will play. There is no real Intro video feature 2- yes it does support 5.1 AC-3 Dolby Digital as far as I know.. I know for sure that Toast 18 does. 3- No video backgrounds like you could on Encore or iDVD. playing behind the menus.

I doubt that it will have one feature that is very important to me and why I stick with Toast.. it doesn't re-encode blu ray compliant H264 m2ts files. Most other programs will re-encode no matter what. but I'll keep an eye out. I bought 19 but have been waiting to install it. I've been using toast since it first came out.

SUCCESS! CUSTOM MENUS IN TOAST 18!

I agree completely but I need access to BluRay and DD 5.1 so I may be stuck. I'll check out the program you suggested. I have to be nice here because they like to block my posts so thats why when I found a work around.. and as you say, it's time consuming, I thought I'd share it. Obviously it won't work for you. Wish apple would release iBluRay based on the iDVD engine.

you have to edit the layers in photoshop.

SUCCESS! CUSTOM MENUS IN TOAST 18!

Did you try changing the fonts in Photoshop. You have to edit the layers for the template in photoshop and then save them. Does that program you bought do Blu Ray and burn DolbyDigital 5.1?

I haven't tried to do sub-menus but I don't believe this will work on subs. Thanks for posting something.. you're the one and most likely the only to do so. Matt
  16. Are these.toast image files? What type of files are you talking about so we can try and assist you?

Unbelievable. People have been asking about custom menus since forever.. 59 people have read this and nobody leaves a comment? I thought it would help out the community but I guess I was wrong.

Toast 19 Pro - NO RE-ENCODE Bluray Video

For me Toast doesn't seem to like anything but m2ts files at 29.97. It refuses to accept AAC files so I use MKV Tools to convert to AC-3 and then TSMuxerGUI to convert to m2ts. I use OBS and save the recording as .mkv 6 channel so I can process it. No more re-encoding.

Burn simple data files in Toast 19? Enhanced Audio?

Thanks for taking the time to post the solution. Many people will just post.. FIXED IT.. and won't say what they did! YOU ROCK!

    19 crashes under 11.0.1

I installed big sur on another drive and bought the upgrade to Toast 19. Not only did they kill the interface, it wants to re-encode everything and crashes. Guess I'll stay with Catalina and 18 for now.

AC3 file not importing with video

Toast 18 is finicky. It doesn't like anything other than H264 in 29.97 FPS. If you have 30 FPS or 60 FPS that could be the issue. I've spend hours and hours doing test burns with different settings and the only ones I've gotten to burn with AC3 have to be in 29.97 FPS.
  23. SUCCESS! I have spent the last 7 hours trying different combinations of settings to see if I can actually get a Blu Ray burned from a file that was created in OBS for Mac. I have included screenshots of the settings I used and when I was done massaging it, I was able to bring it into Toast 18 and it actually showed the correct file size and then I was able to burn a working Toast Disc Image and it DID NOT try and re-encode the file. I recorded it as .mkv as you can see in the settings.. then Using the program MKVtools, I changed the audio to AC3, 448 bit rate and saved it back to disk. Then I used tsMuxerGUI to convert it from .mkv to .m2ts and saved it back out. It seems that Toast doesn't like 30fps videos because it's looking for the NTSC default 29.97 fps. UPDATE: One thing I've noticed is now when I click on edit, the video isn't viewable, but the BluRay burns and plays just fine. When you click on EDIT in Toast Pro 17 it does show the video where you can set in and out marks for the burn. Seems like it's a V18 issue. Toast 17.4 (5589) Update Kills viewing video in the edit screen! I'm thinking the same thing happened in V18. I just successfully burned a Dual Layer Blu Ray with 28Gig of data on it. I hope these settings might give others some insight on how to get Toast 18 to work for them. Matt

Customizing DVD Menus in Toast 18 Pro on a Mac

That only allows you to change the background image I do believe. UPDATE: Just dragged and dropped a modified photoshop menu file and it only saves a 1 layer image.
