    MPEG2 Activation

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I've subscribed to this thread in hopes that if/when a solution if found, it would be posted here. I know I will post here if I get a solution to share. At this point though the situation us unresolved, why lock the thread until that time?

    Mpeg 2 Activation

I'm sorry but no software install should require you to do a recovery install, that's is totally unacceptable to me. I'm glad it worked for you and even though I can do it, you should not have to. It's crazy to spend this much for something and have to go though that much trouble.

DVD Copy files from HD problem (Video_TS)

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE 512mb memory, latest drivers I did call tec support and they said that they were aware of the issue but did not currently have a fix for my problem after we discussed all the details One thing they suggested I try was to create a new account and give it admin rights, clean out the program again and reinstall after logging in to the newly created account. I did that (took quite a while to go through the whole ordeal again) but I got the same results. I've given up till they come up with a proper fix. I've since reloaded V8 and that is working fine. I'm not pleased I spent so much money to upgrade to the latest version and can't use the program. Seems there are a few of us in the same boat after doing more searching and reading. I suppose this thread should be moved to the install section instead.

    Mpeg 2 Activation

OK I just spent another two hours uninstalling and cleaning, made another account as suggested by the tec and I got the same result when I tried to activate " no permission - bad install" I give up. I want to call tec support but they are closed now edit: Reinstalled EMC8 and it works fine, left 9 on there. I wish my wife didn't throw out the box I got 9 in I'd return it for a refund...

    Mpeg 2 Activation

I've been battling this for the past two days. The manual activation only will work if you get the choice. I'm getting the "no permission - Bad Install" message so you don't get a window with the manual install selection. I gave unplugging my Internet a shot but still get the "bad install" message. I just got off the phone with tec support. I was happy that I got a helpful person right away. After giving all my details and what I have tried (clean installs and all that numerous times) In the end I was told that this is a known problem and they are still working on it. None of the current patches or fixes applied to my issue. The one thing I was told to try in the mean time, to see if it will work, is to create a new account with admin rights and install from there. I'll give that a shot I suppose but I don't have high hopes. First I need to, once again, do a complete un-install for the 5 or 6th time. My installs go something like this: Remove all traces of Roxio and Sonic from the HD and reg. (using reg seek) Try to install form the DVD drive and towards the end I get a message to "Insert disk:" with an OK or Cancel choice no other dialog in the box. I hit OK but I keep getting the same message. I can not install from the CD. I hit cancel and the install rolls back and uninstalls itself. I then move all files from the disk to the hard drive then I can install the program. I try to run "my dvd" and I get the activate MPEG-2 click OK and get the "no permission - bad install" box. Everything I've tried so far has not worked, I keep getting the same results. Like I say, I'm gonna try to install from another account like suggested. I just wish it did not take so long go go through this over and over again. I've wasted quite a bit of time already.
  6. I'm having the same issue, I've tried quite a few times to install after a cleaning everything up I need to call but they are closed when I get home from work.

DVD Copy files from HD problem (Video_TS)

OK I just spent the past few hours uninstalling, deleting, cleaning the reg with regseeker and re installing, twice I still have the same results. No change. Pretty frustrating I'm up for suggestions.

DVD Copy files from HD problem (Video_TS)

Up at the top right of the of the window there is a small icon that looks like a TV screen, when you move the cursor over it it says preview. I cant select the movie that I see (movie or sub movies) to preview. On my laptop when I've selected the movie subdirectory, I can click the TV icon and a box pops up with the movie and plays. Something else I just ran into, I went to start create DVD with my DVD and I get a box " The following codec (s) must be activated before using the application: MPEG-2", I click OK to activate and I get an error box " no permission - bad installation" I'm guessing this may be part of the problem? Not sure how to activate it for this app though. I have not searched this site for this issue yet and will be doing that next. I did try a repair install thinking it might fix things that may be a problem but that did not help. I had a heck of a time installing the program. I needed to use the instructions I found here clearing out the reg and removing subdirectories, cookies etc. I kept getting a message to "put in disk" that was already there and the install stalled. I saw that someone had success moving the cd's files to the HD and installing from there. That was what I had to do too. edit: I searched on the activation problem, I can't do a manual activation because I never get the chance since I get the no permission and bad install error. It seems there may be a patch but there is no link to it. I've already did a clean install which is long drawn-out and painful but guess I'll give that another try.
  9. I loaded EMC9 the other day and tried to burn a DVD from files on my hard drive. When I browse to the folder where the files are (Video TS) I can see the names of the files and movie but it will not let me select or preview them. They are not encrypted, and I can only see what looks like an icon of the number 1 where each video is in the subdirectory. I can use nero express to burn them and the disk works so I know the files are OK. I loaded both EMC9 and the video files on my laptop as a test. There I can select the files and instead of the number 1 Icon I can see small graphics of the movie itself. There it works fine Any idea what to try so I can use my PC? Everything else seems to work find but this feature.
