    Media Manager 9 To 10

Hi, Just got around to loading EMC10 on after finishing a project started on EMC9 Is there a way of copying the albums created, tagged pics & watched folders in Media manager 9 to Media manger 10 before I remove the Media manager 9 component? Or do I have to create it all again Thanks for any suggestions etc

Vob File Capture Or Use Avi Files

Thanks for the advice. I will give that ago
  3. Having a problem with PC crashing whilst adding videowave project to Mydvd. Was wondering if I should be using the VOB files in videowave & selecting the movie or de-code the VOB files to an avi. All I'm doing in videowave is importing the VOB's from harddrive & then adding chapters markers, this works ok & then I save the project. When in Mydvd I try to add the videowave project & it says that a VOB file/s is missing, when I try to locate it, the pc crashes. I suspect it's because I'll using the VOB files. Not sure why it thinks their is a VOB missing or why it then crashes. Any advice would be welcome.

    Shakey Playback

Do you mean 'High quality' setting rather than 'custom' under 'project settings'? I was only using RW for testing, whilst I was tinkering with the bitrate encoding. if it's ok at 9 (max), I guess I will then continue at HQ & hardware rendering (as per usual) until I get a problem like this & then revert to software rendering. Thanks for your help

    Shakey Playback

I think I have resolved the issue now. Choosing rendering by software seems to have done the trick. Ticked this option & set bitrate code to 7. Thought the picture was not so sharp, so tried it at 8 & DVD-RW still ok (i.e no shakes), so now burning one at 9. Can anyone explain why the software option solves this? I thought having a dedicated graphics card (thus using hardware rendering) would be better.

    Shakey Playback

Not sure if this is the details your after. 1) Captured avi files from video camera using DV lead via firewire card in usual way. 2) Created movie in videowave using avi files in usual way. 3) Created <= 30 sec movie in video wave from avi files captured (basicaly snap shots throughout the movie) 4) added to the 30 sec movie my mp3 audio that I had edited down to 30secs (ish) 5) In MYDVD add the 30sec movie as an intro movie. 6) Created an ISO file 7) Burnt ISO to disc 1 then 2 & then directly to DVD-RW, & experimented thus far on to the DVD-RW Kind regards

    Shakey Playback

I wonder if anyone can help here, I have produced a DVD using MYDVD & had some problems with the intro movie being shakey & cutting short (i.e not playing for the length of time I created it) & the video content (home movie) being shakey. I searched the FAQ of the roxanne helper & changed burn settings from interlased to progressive and the bitrate encoding from 9 - 7. I think these changes have cured the shakey video content but the intro movie is both shakey & cuts short. After wasting 2 DVD-R's I have been experimenting on DVD-RW & am aware that maybe the better reflectivity of the DVD-R will possibly cure shaky intro. I guess I could live with the poor quality intro as the content now seems to be ok but it would be nice to know what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreitiated

Picture distorsion in VideoWave & MyDvd

Thanks Gary, If I understand you correctly, apart from the software issue I have (& perhaps others), If I carry on as I am I can complete projects without purchasing a card as long as I do not use 3D transitions. But If I purchase a card and I leave the settings to hardware, I won't see distortion problems & can use fancy 3D transitions, although actual processing speed will not increase. (A mouthfull I know) Thanks for your advice, I had just been looking at NVIDIA cards (Basicly because ggrussel has one) & because I have a good one at work that performs well for 3D modeling. Apart from that I know almost nothing about them. AGP v PCI, how much memory, support for this or support for that! But that one for £25 dosn't look at all bad for starters. What a great idea these forums are

Thanks. You've helped me solve the problem. Opened Videowave, changed settings from hardware to software. Then closed. Opened & still set on software. So, opened pic (in videowave) that I know causes distortion and ........it's fine! Changed back settings to hardware &.... distorted again. Opened MyDVD at prettymuch the same thing happens (with the exception of a particular setting being cached or something & the need to shut down & then re-open MYDVD). You've CRACKED IT! So once again thanks very much for your continued support I guess no point in trying the card now as it dosn't support directx9. So I pressume the software will run slower now & I need to get a good card. Probably bit of an open question but do you have any suggestions (I guess I could just check out what your running) Just shelled out on this new PC so don't want to spend a lot more but still wouldn't mind something that does the job + a little future proof. I have no interest in using the PC for gameing or anything more graphics intensive than using EMC9. Would be a little disapointed if I did have to spend much more than £50 ($90).

Thanks for your continued support. I'll try the software thing again when I get home. Digged around some more on the net to learn about this directX thing & where you find out that my intergrated graphics dosn't support it.......couldn't find that info but did find lots of forum posts re VIA S3 intergarted graphics not up to much & not much use for gaming (& I guess video editing). Not sure, why when I spec'd PC I didn't add a good card, kind of new I needed a good system to do all this stuff. Any way.....I have borrowed a PCI graphics card to try, it's a Hercules KYRO 3D Prophet 4000XT (with 64mb, I know it's the same amount as my on-board). Do you know particulary if this supports directx 9? I'm going to try this card & if that solves the problem, go and buy a much better one.

I'm not sure where I read it, forum or Roxio knowledge base (I think it was the latter) but I read that you should not change it from hardware to software (or maybe it was software to hardware). In any case mine is set to hardware, I have tried selecting the radio button for software but it always reverts back to hardware?? Any thoughts on the Roxio 7.5ESD install folder (It's on my work PC too) which as I've said does not exibit distorted pictures. Further observations on my home pc have now shown that some of the default 'menue backgrounds' in MYDVD display ok????? Although I'm not aware that I have changed anything!!

Picture distorsion in VideoWave & MyDvd

Still poking around trying to solve my roxio problems. I've now tested EMC9 on work PC with an NVIDIA Quadro FX card (& sorted out the CD problems) & found that their are no distorted picture problems. So I guess this is looking like I need a dedicated video card? A few observations though....... I've read that if the software dosn't think your hardware is up to scratch it changes the setting of the graphics to 'software'...mine is still set to hardware! I appear to have the latest driver for the S3 intergarted graphics. My system is running IE7 & the work pc has IE6 (Well I think it now has that after taking pc back to an earlier restore point to retrieve cd drives etc). I guess the next thing is to add IE7 on work pc to see if it messes things up and/or try a dedicated grapgics card. This may be a seperate issue but I've noticed on my C: drive I have what appears to be the entire suite of Roxio 7.5 in a folder "Roxio Easy media creator 7.5 ESD' as well as the EMC9 in a 'Roxio' file within the 'Program' folder. There is not an entry in the 'add/remove' programs list to remove EMC7.5????

gi7omy - Its great that you seem to know that ist an incorrect line speed but I don't know how to change this LOL. ggrussell. I tried doing a save as in photosuite but couldn't see how you make the picture 'standard' or 'optimized'! In any case, I also tried a bpm & got the same effect + remember I get the same effect with one of EMC9's own backgrounds in Mydvd ?????? Confused?????? I have also checked my S3 Via intergated pro graphics settings & driver date which all seem to be present & correct. I feel it is something in Roxio as distorted picture carried through to DVD burn (but then what do I know LOL). Could it be the dreaded IE7??
