    New man onboard

I have a Zen V Plus. I use EAC to rip my CD's, LAME to convert them to mp3, Mp3tag to edit the headers and add album art, and Creative Zen V Series Media Explorer (that lets you browse the Zen in Windows Explorer) to copy my mp3's to the device. Everything works, but I am not relying on any Roxio software :-) Aloke
  4. Thanks for the input. I have never used packet writing, so that is not an issue. What's all this I read here about the Disc Copy in EMC10 being eliminated or reduced in feature?
  5. I have Nero 8 installed on my XP Pro SP2 system. I purchased EMC10, for old times sake (I used all versions of EMC 9 before abandoning it for Nero). Will I be able to install EMC10 side-by-side with Nero? Is it worth it? Does EMC10 add anything that I cannot already do with Nero? This was a very impulsive purchase at Sam's Club for $65. I want to justify keeping it rather than returning it when cooler heads prevail. :-) Thanks. Aloke

BUMP 7 - How do I install it?

This is interesting. I now have BUMP7.1 on my system . But there is more to the story. I downloaded the file you mention from the EMC9 Home. That would not install, as it kept finding an older version of BUMP on my system, and kept trying to uninstall it (unsuccessfully). I exited that process after a few attempts. However, it gave me an idea: I have had BUMP on my system from previous installations of EMC7, 8 and possibly even Backup Exec when it was owned by Quest Software. I guessed that EMC9 installer did not uninstall BUMP 6 properly, and all subsequent attempts by it (and the updater you suggested) was choking on the remains of that previous BUMP. So, I deleted all instances of "BUMP_" and "sbewin32" from the registry. Now the updater installed and I have Roxio Backup AND Backup MyPC 7 on my computer (and they still look very different :-) ) However, BUMP was installed to "C:\Program Files\Sonic\Backup MyPC Deluxe 7" location and has it's own group under the Start menu. I bet this will confuse the installer/updater for EMC 10 when I upgrade to that in due course!! Anyway, thanks to all who participated in this thread. Problem is solved.

BUMP 7 - How do I install it?

It could be one of those shady OEM disk .. In which case I can send it and all my e-mails about the purchase to Roxio to track it down. I hope P/N, TSID #, CD Key will help Roxio Tech support in identifying this product. Classic Help About says: Build 900B88F ENU A search on Pricegrabber shows EMC9 for as low as $17 !! I paid $40 for EMC9 through Pricegrabber, which is a "reputable" store-front (till now). http://software.pricegrabber.com/audio-vid...Media%20Creator Although I don't need Disaster Recovery (I use Norton Ghost for that), and could get by with Roxio Backup 9, I am really angry at having been duped. I bought the product (for $40) from http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/gdcorp2006/u/1521537/

BUMP 7 - How do I install it?

James, This is from another thread in "Burning Issues" about a problem that I was having with RB 9. That thread was closed by you because we ended up discussing the differences between RB 9 and BUMP 7 there. The different executables clearly point out that you have BUMP 7 (sbewin32.exe) while I have RB 9 (RxBackup9.exe) on our systems. Thus, this impasse and the inability of anyone here to help me with RB 9 issues or installation issues. No one here has any experience with RB 9 !! I have opened a tech support ticket on this. I bought EMC 9 by mail order from Pricegrabber Storefronts. It came with 2 discs (Program and Contents) The P/N: is 150196-00EU. I can provide the TSID and the CD Key by e-mail.

BUMP 7 - How do I install it?

For further discussion, RB 9 = Roxio Backup 9 BUMP 7 = Backup MyPC 7 EMC 9 = Easy Media Creator Suite 9 People here think that I have BUMP 7 installed but that I am thinking that I have a different product (RB 9). They claim that BUMP 7 and RB 9 are one and the same. That is not correct. These are different programs, with different screens and features. I can e-mail screen-shots of RB 9 to show this. When I install EMC 9, I end up with RB 9 and I don't get BUMP 7 installed on my PC. I have never talked about BUMP 9. Since everyone here is unfamiliar with this situation, I have opened a tech support case. I'll let you all know if this gets resolved.

    Roxio Backup 9 error

With all due respect, could you please tell me whether you have an executable file called "RxBackup9.exe" on your system? Also, could you post the name and size of the executable that the shortcut in the Start menu for BackupMyPC points to? It is clear that most here have not experienced what I ant the author of this thread http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=9611 have encountered. Ill try his approach (complete uninstall and re-install) and see if I am able to get BUMP 7 installed on my system. I could send you screenshots of Roxio Backup 9, if I knew your e-mail address. Mine is aprasad@columbus123.rr.com (please remove the numerals from this address .. I have distorted it here to foil the spambots). Aloke

BUMP 7 - How do I install it?

What we have here is a failure to communicate. And without posting screenshots of the program and the "About" screen of Roxio Backup 9, I have no way of communicating to you that I am not talking about "Backup MyPC" (any version). I will attempt to uninstall EMC9 and reinstall (like the author of the thread http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=9611 ) and see if I am able to install Backup MyPC 7 that is on the EMC9 install disk. Thanks for all your efforts. Aloke

    Roxio Backup 9 error

    I meant Dual Layer (sorry for the confusion). These are DVD+R DL disks by Verbatim No, I am using a program called "Roxio Backup 9". How I wish I could post screen-captures (or e-mail them to you). But I don't have that feature enabled in this BBS ... :-( The files in the directory in question are: C:\Program Files\Roxio\Backup 9>dir Volume in drive C is OSApps Volume Serial Number is 748D-88A3 Directory of C:\Program Files\Roxio\Backup 9 03/03/2007 09:25 PM <DIR> . 03/03/2007 09:25 PM <DIR> .. 08/09/2006 05:24 AM 817 Presets.xml 08/09/2006 05:27 AM 884,736 RxBackup9.exe 08/09/2006 05:27 AM 503,808 RxBackupRemind.exe 03/03/2007 09:25 PM <DIR> Skin 3 File(s) 1,389,361 bytes 3 Dir(s) 6,364,532,736 bytes free This is not BUMP7. I have another thread on why exactly I ended up with Roxio Backup 9 and not BUMP 7 ...

BUMP 7 - How do I install it?

Roxio BU 9 and BUMP7 are very different programs, with very different features. For example, RBU9 has no disaster recovery. I would like to post a screen-capture, but I don't have that privilege here. By the way, my menu under start menu under Roxio Easy Media Creator 9\Backup\ has 2 items: Easy Archive and Roxio Backup.

    Roxio Backup 9 error

I have a backup set that about 22 gig in size. The estimate is 3 dual sided DVR+R DL disks. At the end of burning the 1st (of 3) disks, I get the error: "The target devoce cannot write to a medium large enough to fit the current data set size": 0x0000016 On clicking "Try Again", the program ejects the disk and asks for disk 2 but does not proceed to write anything to it. Basically, I am unable to backup my files to a set that spans multiple DVD+R DL disks. I have selected the option to not span files across two disks. Is that normal? What should I do to make this work? Aloke

BUMP 7 - How do I install it?

I don't have C:\Program Files\Roxio\Backup MyPC\ folder. I do have C:\Program Files\Roxio\Backup 9 folder, created at the same date/time as the rest of the EMC9 folders. Like the user in the other thread, for some reason, EMC9 installer could not uninstall BUMP6 from my PC and skipped BUMP7 install. It installed Roxio Backup 9 instead. I see the BUMP7 install directory on the EMC9 CD. This is a bug in the installer. I wonder if someone from Roxio will read this thread and verify my conjecture (and maybe tell me how to proceed..).
