Dvdit Pro Hd Changes Screen Resolution On A New Installation

While on spring break vacation recently I left my edius program open on my Vaio laptop, closed the lid and it went into hibernate mode and then froze the computer - I must have corrupted some files in the operating system and the computer did not operate properly so I had to do a complete reinstall of the operating system and all the original programs that came with the computer (you can do this on the Vaio with one click after rebooting and pressing F10). To make a long story short - after reinstalling DVDitProHD the program now works perfectly under 32 bit - no error message asking to change screen resolution - I have an idea there were some conflicts with other programs I had installed on the computer.

Dvdit Pro Hd Changes Screen Resolution On A New Installation

Thank you for you input also - am anxious to try this out (when I get home from the office) on my Vaio laptop and see if I can finally load the program at the proper resolution. Once you changed the color to 16 bit did DVDitPROHD give you a prompt to lower the screen resolution or did it just go ahead and load without any error messages or prompts? Addendum - tried it out and works beautifully! Once the program is open you can change back to 32 bit color if you want. Finally able to use DVDitProHD on my Vaio laptop at 1920X1080 resolution. Thanks for your help - it has been almost a year since my original post.

Dvdit Pro Hd Changes Screen Resolution On A New Installation

I don't remember the interface changing on the new version - after you changed the color to 16 bit could you go back and change the screen resolution back to 1920x1080?

Dvdit Pro Hd Changes Screen Resolution On A New Installation

I vaguely remember getting an email back from customer support at Roxio stating to the effect that DVDitProHD did not support the 1920X1080 resolution of the Vaio (I guess computer monitors are 1920x1200.

    FireCODER Blu

I just got a "white paper" from Sonic Scenarist and it states: The 8-bit 4:2:0 Barrier The HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc specifications list a large number of constraints upon the video codecs that they employ. Amongst that list one fundamental item (the profile adopted) has a massive impact on the overall quality that’s attainable by inferring (amongst other things) that the bit depth and sampling format is 8-bit 4:2:0. According to current technology I won't be able to use my 4:2:2 colorspace files directly in blu-ray delivery format - will have to wait for the next generation of discs because blu-ray specs are final.

    FireCODER Blu

I have been using Procoder 3 with minimum set to 25, average 35 and max of 40 and, so far, haven't had any playback problems. Now is 4:2:2 not a legal blu-ray specification (can't seem to find the answer on the net) or is it that DVDitProHD just won't accept it and the other (more expensive) authoring programs will like Scenarist?

    FireCODER Blu

I answered my own question - a one minute test file using 4:2:2 and 422@HL when imported into DVDitProHD locks up the program so it looks as though DVDitProHD is not ready for 4:2:2. I am also afraid of using higher bitrates so I will stick with Procoder 3 where I can encode with bitrates with tighter contraol 25 minimum 35 average and 40 mas.

    FireCODER Blu

Thanks for the information Anton. A couple more questions: If I choose 4:2:2 chroma format I am left with 422@HL as the only choice for profile and level. Is that ok? I would also like to use higher bitrates and not use 25mbps as the average bitrate. Since MXF files are up to 100mbps could I use 50 as the max for bitrate and 35 mbps as the average or would that cause problems since max blu-ray legal bitrate is 40mbps? Would it be better to set 35mbps and constant bitrate in order to get the best quality? The only choice on the bitrate menu in the MPEG exporter (above 25M) are 35,50,300M.

    FireCODER Blu

If your files have 4:2:2 colorspace is there any problem with chosing that option and having DVDitProHD accept it? I use Edius and am editing with MXF files from the Nanoflash recorder which records directly from the HD-SDI output of the Sony PMW-EX1 camera.

    A New DVDit?

If you really look closely this is just DVDit ProHD repackaged with probably some new menu templates added (which would be useless to me - I usually use motion bakground, motion chapter buttons from the particular video I am authoring). Also, they don't mention a thing about BD-J - popup menus or transitions between menus (not slideshows) so it looks like the same ol, same ol.

    A New DVDit?

It is still around - look here: http://www.sonic.com/products/Professional...ion/screen.aspx Look at the screenshot for "Professional Blu-ray Disc and DVD-Video Authoring" - Familiar??? They have probably upgraded - added some bells and whistles and probably are charging a whole lot more. And then I found this (odd coincidence - it was just announced yesterday) and look at that price!!!! http://www.reuters.com/article/pressReleas...009+PRN20090904

    A New DVDit?

Oh OK. I had heard that DVDitProHD was essentially "dead" software - i.e. no plans for future improvements, extended features or bug revisions. Even the release of the 6.4 revisions was sort of handled haphazardly with previous customers having to obtain it through emails etc. - no download site, etc. Your comment stirred some hope. I think that the corporate philosophy is that by adding some more features that are in Sonic Scenarist into DVDitProHD - it would take away from their high-end line so we are sort of stuck with what we have with no future changes.

Blu-ray Motion Menus On Dvdit Pro Hd

I am not certain why all the problems with motion menu backgrounds. When I edit a project (I use Edius 5.0) I will edit the entire movie - output it to the appropriate blu-ray format and then add on a 30-40 second clip (just the video usually) at the end of the timeline and output that with the same parameters as the original movie and save it for later use. Of course, elementary stream is of utmost importance. I have made over 30 blu-ray projects in the last couple of years and they all had motion menu backgrounds and motion chapter buttons and not a single problem. I have all my movies, project files and source files on the same RAID 0 drive. Be sure, though, that there is not heavy fragmentation of your source files - even on a RAID 0 drive this can cause problems and not allow the volume to be written.
