    Bump V.7

If it has no DR, then it is the version that came with EMC 9.

Toshiba Runs $2.7 Million Ad During Super Bowl

Of course, with some of the junk they are putting on TV, the Mayans just might be right.

Toshiba Runs $2.7 Million Ad During Super Bowl

And others have predicted the same thing in previous years, and I'm still watching television.

Toshiba Runs $2.7 Million Ad During Super Bowl

In my, opinion regular TV has sucked for far longer than that. I watch exactly 2 series TV shows. CSI, the original, and Bones. Other TV shows I watch are PBS, DIY, old movies, and shows on channels like History etc. Would not bother me if the strike never ended, or that another award show where they pat each other on the back gets canceled.

    Bump V.7

In reality, it doesn't surprise me much as BUMP is more of a home product. As expensive and slow as tape is, few are using it anymore. I gave them up at least 5 years ago. DVD and external HDD are much faster and just as reliable. When I was backing up by tape, it would take me 3+ hours. Now I do more onto DVD in 20-30 mins. Does the version of BUMP they gave you have disaster recovery? And if it does, does it require floppies. I have been waiting for ages for a version 7 of BUMP that has DR. Only version I have heard of was the version that came with EMC 9. That one did not have DR.

    Bump V.7

I have to ask where did you get version 7. Did it come with the drive? I also noticed your post about EMC 10. What comes with EMC 10 is Back on Track, not BUMP. I would be very surprised if BOT can read BUMP files. From what I have read BOT does not support tape.

    Anyone Tried Ms Silverlight

Just wondering if anyone has been brave enough to try the MS Silverlight for IE and supposedly Firefox? Impressions? Problems? A better description than the usual MS propaganda on what it does?

    Anyone Tried Ms Silverlight

I had a add/remove listing, but when I tried it it would not uninstall. As this happened months ago, I have since done some cleanup and removed the uninstall files. If they do not work, there is no point in keeping them.

    Anyone Tried Ms Silverlight

Well with all the at least not negative replies, I may have to give it a try. Anyone try to uninstall? Have had problems in the past doing that with MS products, (read IE7). Never was able to uninstall, so was stuck with it.

    Compusa And Tigerdirect

The other day I was browsing just looking for things that were newly release, so I was going through Tigerdirect, a company I occasionally order from, then went over to CompUSA. The sites are now basically the same. Same menus, products, and prices, Seems they are owned by the same company. Since they no longer will have stores, they are not even bothering with having a different setup, except the name. Just something interesting I noticed. Hadn't even realized they were the same. So I just dropped my CompUSA bookmark all together. No point in using it.

    Anyone Tried Ms Silverlight

Definitely not brave enough just yet. Especially with MS and the fact I have not seen or heard anything about it. I will try a beta of Firefox or some other softwares in a heartbeat, just not MS.

Unrecovered Read Error - Medium Error

If you are copying movies, there is a good chance it is the copy protection that is stopping you. Also some software DVDs may have the same thing.

    The "gutting" Of Backupmypc 6

Not sure what you downloaded, but I have Backup MyPC 2006. It works exactly like V6, (which it is, just renamed), v5, and v4. Are you sure you did not download Back on Track. As for this site, it is a forum of users, not Roxio staff, so your complaint will probably not be seen by anyone from Roxio.
  14. Something else you may try. Create the CD with the directory for BUMP, but leave it empty. As far as leaving it, it will do nothing but take up a little space.
  15. Sorry, don't know why that didn't work for you. Worked fine for me with EMC 8 when I had it.

    How To Downsize Vista

Interesting story on software that will cut the footprint of Vista in half. http://slashdot.org/articles/08/01/28/1514212.shtml http://slashdot.org/firehose.pl?id=490832&op=view

    How To Downsize Vista

Would have to have a lot more info for me even to think about it. Would definitely like to find out all that has been eliminated since just the couple of things mentioned would not even be close to half. As to what M$ thinks. This one line may say a lot.

Bump6 Locks Folders Containing Restored Files

I was just looking at the restore configuration options again. One of the options on the advanced tab is to restore NTFS file permissions. Is this checked on your setup. If it is or is not, you may want to try the reverse of the current settings.

Restore Backup Mypc .qic Files To Vista System

The only software you can use is Backup MyPC to restore from your qic files. I am not sure about V7, as that only came out with EMC9. I have not been able to find a standalone version. That one with updates was supposed to be able to run under Vista, but I have no experience with that. The only thing I can suggest is to find someone who runs Vista, install BUMP to their machine, restore to a external drive, and then hook that external to your new machine and copy file. Something like that is the only way you are going to get that to your new machine. As for browsing, there is no way as that of it's proprietary compression. They only way to find what is on there is with BUMP. There may be something else, but you will probably have to do a search on the internet for that. I have never heard of one though. I have kept looking for a new version from Sonic/Roxio but have about given up hope. For the new machine, I assume BackOnTrack will work. Acronis 11, Genie Soft backup will also work as will many of the ZIP programs like PowerArchiver and WinZip. Sorry I could not be of more help, but there are many products that still have not come out with versions for Vista. One of the many reasons I am staying away from it for as long as possible.

BackupMPC 5.0, Verify Op Fails with "Stream Error"

Unfortunately, only the developers probably know that. I can't say I ever had a 100MB catalog. Each time I did a backup I would do catalog cleanup as I would keep a series of 3 backups. So never more than 4 entries would be in the catalog at the same time. Also my total DR backups would only run about 15GB uncompressed. so I am assuming you have quite a few more files than I did. Each one of which will have a catalog entry.

BackupMPC 5.0, Verify Op Fails with "Stream Error"

I am beginning to think your catalog is becoming corrupt, especially since it occurs on different files that probably are not open, although the temp probably was as it looks like an install log. How many entries and how large is your catalog? I see different errors reported here and all seem to come back to the catalog, especially for those that have large catalogs. Save your catalog to another directory and try a full backup allowing it to start with a fresh one. You also stated you cleaned up a bunch of entries. Did you also do a compact on the catalog after deletion?

    Back Up My Pc

That may have been with the Windows 95 series. M$ tightened things up on XP so that you can not do the restore without booting to the install CD. As for no install disk, I assume you bought this from Dell or some other company. They usually give you a restore disk, or there is a partition on your hard drive from which you can create a restore disk. Those are usually bootable. If not, you could restore windows, install BUMP, and restore the whole system from the DR disks or a full system restore from a HDD backup.
