Toast 10 Pro Executes Setup On Each Launch & Crashes

(Ref: item #2) This particular issue (#2) is now fixed as I tried quitting the application PRIOR to its crashing and that resolved the setup loop problem. (Ref: item #3) This was a normal audio CD project with tracks of audio files which was created in Toast-9. I double checked and tried different scenarios. Anytime Toast 10 has to execute a search for a track/file which was in a .disc project created in Toast-9 and you click on "okay" it crashes. If no search is required, all is well. I have reported this to Roxio, have a case number and am awaiting a reply--reported on 9 January.

I have reported it to technical support and have a pending case number on the issue.

Toast 10 Pro Executes Setup On Each Launch & Crashes

Yes, I was in the Audio CD setting when the Toast 9 .disc file was created. Toast 10 only crashes when it has to search for an audio track from a previously created Toast 9 .disc file (that is my experience so far). I had slightly renamed the track since the Toast 9 creation of the .disc so it had to search for the file (which is a normal function and should not cause any difficulty). When operating in Toast 9 it searched just fine (I checked it just now). When operating in Toast 10 for a track in a Toast 9 file it is crashing. Hope this clarifies.

Toast 10 Pro Executes Setup On Each Launch & Crashes

The problem of running me through the setup routine resolved itself with the suggested fix from Roxio, so the only thing that remains (other than the weird registration issue that most folks are experiencing) is the crash when acknowledging a request to search for a song/file in a previously saved Toast file. I believe your reply was to issue #2, now resolved (which behaved as if it was being operated from the install disk). If I get a reply from Roxio, I'll be sure to update this thread. By the way, I can operate in Toast 10 Pro fine if NOT having to search for a file in a previously saved Toast file. Thanks for your reply. Barry
  5. Having purchased Toast 10 Pro last week and installing it on my late 2008 iMac Intel Core Duo 2.8Ghz, 4GB RAM, running OS 10.5.6, I am extremely disappointed. I have used Toast 4......through Toast 9 (and experienced the code fiasco going from Toast 7 to Toast 8 and not being able to open files created in Toast 7 with the first release of Toast 8). Toast 9 works great on my iMac, but Toast 10 has some real issues for me: 1. The problem previously posted in another thread regarding the "registration error message" (even though it did register); 2. The application takes me through setup EVERY time I launch it (finally trashed preferences, plst, etc and reinstalled and rebooted--that problem went away); 3. When I try to open a file created in Toast 9 and it has to search for one of the files/songs and I click okay, the application crashes. If a file is fine, no problem, but if it has to search and I click "okay" then it crashes--EVERY TIME. I contacted Roxio support and of course they suggested I trash the plist files, etc., and reinstall the application (and verify/repair permissions), etc. I did all they requested and the #3 problem/issue remains unchanged. I also sent roxio the system profiler report which they had requested. I haven't heard a thing back from them since letting them know the suggested "fix" didn't work and sending them the profiler report. Getting hold of technical support takes forever (and after asking to speak with a supervisor in that department I waited on the line for another 10 minutes, after an initial 35 minutes, and was disconnected). I am an experienced Mac and Roxio user for nearly two decades (Mac) and one decade (Roxio Toast), but the ridiculously slow customer support and the apparently poor quality control in the test of this product (Toast 10 Pro) leaves one shaking their head. I would recommend against purchasing Toast 10 as it is obviously not tested very thoroughly. If anyone has further suggestions I am open to them. Short of that I'll avail myself of the refund and stick with Toast 9. Barry

    Can Not Register Toast 10

I had the same problem and received the same error message. I did receive a registration confirmation e-mail though. A bigger problem is the application crashing when I try to open a Toast file created in Toast-9 when it has to search for a file. I have filed a customer tech support request on that issue. I'll post that in another thread.

    SATISFACTION W/ TOAST 8

I re-installed Toast 7, so I have both of them currently. That's my current solution. For such a good original software, I can't believe this all happened during software development.

Angry is not the word!!!! What is wrong with the folks from Roxio not WARNING everyone of the impacts PRIOR to upgrading so that effective decisions could be made. Talk about BAD customer sensitivity! Barry

    SATISFACTION W/ TOAST 8

I don't know what has happened to the quality of the product. I am disappointed too since I can't open any old Toast files (not even those created in Toast 8 when I updated to 8.0.1 today--see my other post).

No Content (Tracks) Old Toast CD Files

Am I upset? YOU BET!!! I just downloaded and updated Toast Titanium 8.0 to 8.0.1. I had been advised that my old Toast 7 files might actually open with that. SO, WHAT HAPPENS? A Toast file I created in Toast Titanium 8.0 YESTERDAY, will now NOT open with 8.0.1. No other changes were made to the system (no filed locations were relocated, etc.). What is going on? Ever since Toast 8 came on the scene it seems that attributes of this software are declining. I want to open my Toast files----I can't even open a file I created in Toast 8 yesterday. Yes, I am upset. Barry

    Okay--where is upgrade link?!

Sorry, it is not there. There "Download" link is there, but it takes you to a place where there is no clear link to 8.0.1 (and you go around in circles trying to select Upgrade or Toast 8). If there is a direct link, please post it here. Repeat: the word "download" is there with a link (but it does not take you to an 8.0.1 download place). I'll try tomorrow, BUT it DOES NOT connect properly now. Thanks.

    Okay--where is upgrade link?!

When I opened Toast Titanium 8.0, I received the "Toast Titaniium 8.0.1 is Availalbe", but when I go to the download link, there is no easy link to find the update to 8.0.1. I tried all the links and just go around in circles. What gives?? What is the, no kidding, link to find the 8.0.1 update?

So, I take it I should not give up and trash the files. I may be able to open them properly in the next Toast 8 update.

No Content (Tracks) Old Toast CD Files

I have used Toast for eons. I am now using Toast Titaniium 8.0 with my PowerMac G4 and OS-10.4.8. I used to be able to click on the Toast music CD file which I created, and it would bring up the file with all the tracks. Now I double click on the file and Toast opens but there are no tracks. What happened? All my Toast files are like this. I want to double click, open them, and burn a new CD. Help!!! Thanks Barry java script:emoticon('',%20'smid_2')
