  1. Hi all, long time no talk. Creator 2012 audio extraction isn't working; this is *not* a copyright protections issue-- these are rips from my own videos. I've been using Creator 2012 for a couple of years with Windows XP Service Pack 3; just upgraded to Windows 7, and today I added Service Pack 1 to see if it would solve the issue. No go. The extractions look like they're happening, and a .wav file is created, however the file is flatlined on playback. Any suggestions? Or is this a "time to upgrade" level problem? All help appreciated. Best-- D.

Hi again all, just wanted to report that the upgrade to NXT2 was a fix for this issue. FYI.

Thanks, cdanteek. Appreciate the suggestion. Good to have options just in case... As a courtesy to all, will let the group know if the upgrade solves the problem. These things are good to share.

Audio Rip Problem After Upgrade To Windows 7 Sp1

If you have any suggestions to offer, cdanteek, please make them. If you think it's a computer issue, do tell. Creator 2012 has functioned beautifully for me for a few years. Can only attribute the lack of rip functionality to the recent upgrade. Out of ideas.

Audio Rip Problem After Upgrade To Windows 7 Sp1

Thanks, Brendan, appreciate your time/effort, but this was not the problem; nor can we find any issues with the PC sound settings. No time to wait-- already backed up in editing by about 12 hours, so purchasing the upgrade... At least it's out there on the forum in case someone else has similar issues. Best to all-- D.

Audio Rip Problem After Upgrade To Windows 7 Sp1

No prob, guru, here's my blow-by-blow: right click on video clip, choosing "extract audio." choosing file to store in, and saving. file shows up as a .wav in the appropriate location. Double click .wav in "media selector" and no sound. Drag .wav into either music or narration track (I've tried both) right click on dragged track to show mixer; flatlined. Track display flickering like loading, but never loads. tried playback in another program (VLC Media player), got nothing.

Oops, sorry, meant to write "when I double click on the file for playback in "Media Selector,"' not right click.

Audio Rip Problem After Upgrade To Windows 7 Sp1

cdanteek Guru, I'm in "Edit Video Advanced." Brendon, can you tell me more about how to turn on audio inputs? In "Edit Video Advanced" I can't find anywhere on the mixer to turn on anything... I assume you're talking about right clicking on the dragged in audio clip...? When I open the mixer in this way, the display is flatlined, and also the left and right track display box is flickering-- I have never seen it do that before. Like it's loading, perhaps, but then it never loads. Also, when I right click on the file for playback in "Media Selector," when I listen, I got nothin'. Step by step would be helpful. Thanks!
  10. Hi all-- When I open the Roxio Creator 2011 program, lately I've been seeing this message: Server Error in '/REDIRECTSERVER' Application. This pops up at the bottom of the screen, often where the ad for "upgrade to Creator 2012" has appeared. This is appearing on the "Home" screen when I first open Creator 2011. I've been noticing a problem with video capture, but everything else seems to be running fine. I don't know if these two things are in any way connected. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling the software with new patches without success. If anyone has a fix for this, I'd be very grateful.

    Backward Compatibility Issue

I searched the archives on this & didn’t have any luck with this question. I have Creator 11 currently installed on my computer. Previously, I had EMC7. Videos I produced in EMC7 won’t open with Creator 11, and from what I’ve read herein on the forum the versions are not backward compatible. So my questions are as follows: 1. If I uninstall Creator 11 and reinstall EMC7 will that solve the problem with the old videos? 2. Are the patches for EMC7 still available…? Can anyone speak to this? 3. If I uninstall Creator 11 and reinstall EMC7, will videos I produced with Creator 11 be affected or corrupted? I plan to migrate them off to an external drive which I won’t access during the process. Is this necessary? All help appreciated. TY in advance for any assistance you might provide.

    Backward Compatibility Issue

I've alerted IT to this in hopes that they can roll back IE & WMP. This is really great info. Much appreciated.

Wow, really important info. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm running IE8.

    Backward Compatibility Issue

I consulted with our IT Dept. & they're going to reinstall the old software. We'll see what happens. For the benefit of others on the forum I'll post results, but it may take a little while before they're able to get to my needs. I'm a long-time Roxio user & don't post here often because I usually don't have issues, but I'm surely appreciative of the contributions of those who do participate when I need help. So thanks to all who replied.

    Backward Compatibility Issue

OK all you software gurus out there, is Brendon right when he says two software versions can happily co-exist on the same computer? That would (for me) be the ideal solution, but I'm just not versed enough with how software works to know if this is a good idea or not... And Brendon, thanks, I think we're quickly getting at answers to what I need most. I appreciate your thoughts.

    Backward Compatibility Issue

Hi Brendon, they are indeed project files. For the benefit of the forum, this is a lesson learned in archiving. Going forward, I will always output to either AVI files or dump back to videotape. But at the time of rollover, it never occured to me that there would be issues with backward compatibility... Any thoughts on the questions I originally posed?

...And I'm having a less-than-stellar day. *Now* I see why you asked. The full title is Creator 2011. My bad.

When I open Creator 11 it tells me it is version 131B66A, if that helps at all. TY for your reply.

    Backward Compatibility Issue

Hello, I'm sorry, I really don't understand your reply... I'm eyeballing the box and it specifically says Creator 11...? I'm running XP Service Pack 3.
  21. Hello, I'm having a problem with my home system, where I run Creator 2010 Deluxe. Jumpy, jittery playbacks; think it's a memory issue as I recently had a memory slot burn out. I'm thinking about bringing my external hard drive into work, where all the files and the production itself are stored. I'm running Creator 2011 at work. I did something similar once before with two different versions, and I lost a lot of my work due to what I think are probably compatibility issues... Can anyone give me any advce about likely issues? It was a few years ago, but I do remember losing all of my transitions, and I can't recall if I had file association problems from changing computers... I need a whizz who can translate tech into comprehensible info. TY.

Videowave 2010 Deluxe And 2011 Compatibility?

Hey guys, thanks for the couple of replies. Just courtesy, I wanted to let you know that the issue with jumpy/jittery video was I needed a new video card. The guy who troubleshot hardware tells me my motherboard, and system requirements are fine. Just as experiment, I copied one entire video file to a different drive and the files all pointed to each other without a problem. I was able to open & edit. Thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate them.
  23. I'm under the impression that you can output a .dmsm to a .wmv then drag the .wmv file into Videowave and save it as a .dmsm file. It will then burn quicker. I'm having a problem, however. When I play DVDs I've done this way back, the menu is fine, but the actual program content looks like its on fast forward & no audio. So I'm now left to wonder is it the burner, or is it the .wmv file format? I'm using EMC 7 with a patch at work-- have for years and have never had a problem until now. Yeah yeah, upgrade upgrade, but I have EMC 10 at home for personal use & don't like it as much... Can anyone help?

Does a .wmv Drag into Videowave Work?

Doesn't the subject line say it all? Does a drag of a .wmv file into Videowave work? Or not? If yes, why am I having issues? If not, why not? PS I am not male and I resent the assumption.

Does a .wmv Drag into Videowave Work?

Every time I produce a video, I output to a .wmv file. I also burn a DVD. In other words, I create the same production in two formats. One for Internet upload, and one that can be handed around to the technophobes and those who prefer to watch on TV rather than the web. I creeate the .wmv first. At one point I wondered if I could drag the .wmv into Videowave. Smaller file size, faster burn to DVD. Quality is not a huge problem. It is possible. It does seem to work. It also seems to play fine while in Videowave. However the burn results in a perfect Roxio menu and a problematic program. To cut down on DVD burn time, I have tried outputting the .dmsm file to an .avi file but this takes as long as burning a DVD (three+ hours). I need a *fast* method of burning to DVD. Perhaps there isn't one. Times are tough. I'm unlikely to get any new equipment any time soon at work. All suggestions appreciated.
