    system requirements

As Dave has said a separate video card with its own integrated ram is way better for video work than the on board model you have, any type will work OK for you and im not going to go in to specifics but ATI or Nvidia all work well just a thought for later on if you get into video work more,

    Frying The New Copyright Law

Yay the government have placed it on hold for a month wile they re-read it though, thank god someone has a head on there shoulders, im just glad the last government are not in still, or it would have been passed already. There are more holes in the act than there is in the titanic, and it can take something as simple as a spyware app to generate the traffic on a users pc (without them knowing) and then they get shut off. I really don't think its going to have any pull by the time it's read though in full by the government committees. It needs to go in the big recycle bin in the sky ( i know you loved Helen, keven?, whats his/her name Brendon anyway, but your loverly lady is the one who voted it in with the greens, not John)

  16. Starting today, July 10, 2008 - Windows XP SP3 Is Live via Automatic Updates The third and last service pack for the 32-bit version of Windows XP has debuted on the path to automatic distribution today, July 10, 2008. Initially, Microsoft was shy about pinpointing the actual deadline for XP SP3's availability through Automatic Updates, and only referenced an abstract "early summer" in order to give users a clue as to when they should get ready. Even earlier this week Nick MacKechnie, Senior Technical Account Manager at Microsoft New Zealand pointed that the service pack was coming "soon." Well, as far as MacKechnie was concerned, "soon" was only a matter of a few days. And now Microsoft is effectively beginning to wrap up the distribution process of XP SP3. Windows XP SP3 was released to manufacturing on April 21, 2008. But just as it was the case with Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Microsoft delayed the availability of the gold bits for over a week, especially when incompatibility problems regarding Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS) were involved. At the beginning of May 2008, XP SP3 RTM went live on Windows Update and on the Microsoft Download Center. Now, over two months later, Microsoft is releasing the service pack through AU. This means that XP users that haven't implemented the service pack as of yet, and with the AU settings configured to "automatically download recommended updates for my computer and install them" will receive the final bits of SP3 without lifting a finger. Still, the Redmond giant informed that not all XP users will be able to see the final version of XP SP3 through AU on June 10. According to Microsoft SP3 distribution through AU will take some time, as the rollout will be performed in stages. The Microsoft Service Pack blocker toolkit is available to block the delivery of SP3 for users with AU enabled that want to postpone the deployment of the service pack. - Windows XP Service Pack 3 stand-alone version is available for download here. http://news.softpedia.com/news/Download-Of...512-84910.shtml - Windows XP Service Pack 3 Checked Build Network Installation Package is available for download here. http://news.softpedia.com/news/Download-Wi...age-85165.shtml - Windows XP Service Pack 3 CD Image is available for download here. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Signat...ws-XP-SP3.shtml

    Get It Wile It's Hot - Firefox 3.0 Rc2

Firefox 3.0 RC2 Mozilla Firefox - faster, more secure, easier to use and sporting a new look, this latest Firefox release sets a new standard for web browser innovation. Mozilla Firefox project (formerly Firebird, which was formerly Phoenix) is a redesign of Mozilla's browser component, written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform. It is small, fast and easy to use, and offers many advantages over other web browsers, such as the tabbed browsing and the ability to block pop-up windows. Mozilla Firefox 3 is focused on improved memory handling, performance, and stability, improved XUL, and new core components such as application data stored in SQLite. Mozilla Firefox 3 could break a few existing extensions and applications built on top of Firefox, and it will definitely include new optimizations if you like to build on the popular browser. Mozilla Firefox 3 should have additional JavaScript and SVG features if you're into that sort of thing. Features in Firefox include: - Easy migration: Switching to Firefox has never been easier now that Firefox imports data like Favorites, history, settings, cookies and passwords from Internet Explorer. Firefox can also import settings from Mozilla 1.x, Netscape and Opera. - Smaller Download: Continuing efforts to make this the most efficient browser, the Windows version of Firefox is now only a 4.7 MB download, making downloading Firefox a breeze for dial-up and broadband users alike. - New Default Theme: A new default theme provides a bright new look for Windows and Linux users. - SmartUpdate: A new SmartUpdate feature notifies users of new versions of Firefox to ensure that the browser is always up to date. - Help: A new online help system makes this one powerful, friendly browser. - Extension/Theme Manager: New Extension and Theme Managers provide a convenient and secure way to manage and update the hundreds of add-ons that set Firefox apart from other browsers. Mozilla Firefox also includes numerous bug fixes and incremental improvements, including faster page load speed. - Popup Blocking: Stop annoying popup ads in their tracks with Firefox's built in popup blocker. - Tabbed Browsing: View more than one web page in a single window with this time saving feature. Open links in the background so that they're ready for viewing when you're ready to read them. - Smarter Search: Google Search is built right into the toolbar, and there are a plethora of other search tools including Keywords (type "dict " in the Location Bar), and FastFind (start typing the first few letters of some text in the page and Firefox takes you there). - Privacy and Security: Built with your Security in mind, Firefox keeps your computer safe from malicious spyware by not loading harmful ActiveX controls. A comprehensive set of privacy tools keep your online activity your business. - Hassle-Free Downloading: Files you download are automatically saved to your Desktop so they're easy to find. Fewer prompts mean files download quicker. - Fits Like a Glove: Simple and intuitive, yet fully featured, Firefox has all the functions you're used to - Bookmarks, History, Full Screen, Text Zooming to make pages with small text easier to read, etc. - S M L XL XXL XXXL: Firefox is the most customizable browser on the planet. Customize your toolbars to add additional buttons, install new Extensions that add new features, add new Themes to browse with style, and use the adaptive search system to allow you to search an infinite number of engines. Firefox is as big or small as you want. - Setup's a Snap: At only 4.7MB (Windows), Firefox only takes minutes to download over a fast connection. The installer gets you set up quickly, and the new Easy Transition system imports all of your settings - Favorites, passwords and other data from Internet Explorer and other browsers - so you can start surfing right away. - A Developer's Best Friend: Firefox comes with a standard set of developer tools including a powerful JavaScript and CSS error/warning console, and an optional Document Inspector that gives unheard of insight into how your pages work. - Read Mail—Not Spam Get it here first Download for Windows (Eng) - 7.1 Mb http://mozilla.osuosl.org/pub/mozilla.org/....0%20RC%202.exe Download for Linux (Eng) - 8.7 Mb http://mozilla.osuosl.org/pub/mozilla.org/...-3.0rc2.tar.bz2 Download for MacOS (Eng) - 17.2 Mb http://mozilla.osuosl.org/pub/mozilla.org/....0%20RC%202.dmg

Ultimate Laptop To Do Video Work On?

there are many makes and models of laptops that DO have large video cards (similar to the ones in video production PC's) but like anything they are business units and not found in the home model section of the sellers, stay away from the home user models, go look at the business models of DELL or Tosh ect... iv seen many with 512meg GDDR3 video cards and fast SATA harddrives, and many with vista 64bit Operating systems with over 4 gig of ram , but the real answer is " HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO PAY?" as there is really the skys the limit now days i had a ASUS full size laptop with a dulecore 3.0 in it for a wile and it had a ATI 512 meg Radon video card and all the bells, but its price was over 4K New Zealand, and the sucker was a hefty sod, so power versus weight you need to look at... Dont look at home models, go see a furm that sells busness units
