    Launching EMC9

I just did the clean install and it appears to have worked. For joy! However, now the program won't recognize any of my drives! It doesn't "see" either of my two drives...the DVD/RW or the CD/RW Now what? Thanks, Paul

    Launching EMC9

I have a Dell Vostro, 160 meg HD, 2.0 gig RAM, NVIDIA 256 GeoForce 8600. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program MANY times and still I get the following when I try to burn a project: "The following codec(s) must be activated before using the application: MPEG-2. Click OK to activate or Cancel to abort." Of course, I click "OK." And I get, "No permission-Bad installation." Any ideas? I've sent an email to Roxio tech support and no response... Thanks in advance for any help!! Paul

    Burning Problems--Continuation

Thank you! From what I describe, do you think it is the video card that is the problem? Thanks to you, too. With the prices being what they are, maybe I should just get a whole 'puter

    Burning Problems--Continuation

I'm the guy w/the GeForce 4 MX420 that was having all kinds of problems... I contacted Roxio tech support and they gave me steps like disabling my startup programs and services, going to the EMC program via the start menu, etc...and still the program hangs at the "analyzing data" screen. If you'll read the previous threads I have also defragged, updated DirectX and the drivers and still no luck. I have a Dell 512 RAM, 80Gig Hard, (with adequate space) 2.4 mhz cpu, a TDK 8X DVD burner and the video card as outlined above. Question(s): would you think it's the card that's giving me the problems? Would you think a new card with 128 memory would solve this problem? The benefit of your wisdom will once again be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul

    Burning Problems

I was afraid you'd say that!! I wish Roxio would have spelled out ALL the specific requirements necessary to make this work. While the amount of $ that I spent for this program will not be the difference between eating or starving or making my son's tuition payment, I still hate the idea of throwing $ down a rat hole. Thank you for your help. Paul

    Burning Problems

Tried that and it still hangs... What next? Could my burner be a problem? (a TDK 440N) The program will sometimes say that my video card driver is out of date and yet the NVIDIA site says I have the up to date driver for my GeForce4 MX420. Thanks in advance for your advice. Paul

Thank you, Bruce. I didn't know about the limitation. I will try your suggestion. Paul

    Burning Problems

Thank you for your reply, Frank. The files I am trying to burn are digital pictures that I took with my Canon Rebel XTi. I saved them to my hard drive and then added them by clicking on "add photos" to the wizard on the slideshow menu. I also added MP3 music files that are also saved on my hard drive. I have used previous versions of EMC and haven't had this problem. Isn't it easier to use the wizard? I have also tried to create the project and then save it, but the program again goes to, and gets stuck on, the "analyzing files" thing again. I look forward to your ideas, Frank. Paul

    Burning Problems

Any help will be greatly appreciated!! I have read the threads, performed the tasks outlined and still my Roxio is disobedient! I have a Dell w/512 RAM, 2.4 Ghz and a GeForce4 MX420 Video Card. I am using the retail version of EMC 9.0.088. I have defragged the hard drive, downloaded the latest driver for the Video card (or so says NVIDIA) and tried to burn a dvd using MyDVD. All goes well until the burning process when I get a dialog box with "analyzing media files." There it stays. Nothing happens. I have left it overnight. Still no progress. What can I do to make this program come when I call? Paul
