    Disappearing Drive...

It would appear to be a port problem. The drive was connected through a powered 4 port Belkin hub. The drive is now connected to the computer's port. Recognises Blu-ray and currently encoding. da5id.

    Disappearing Drive...

Hi all, Since updating my system to OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) when I insert a Blu-ray disk the computer does not recognize the external drive (Matshita BD-MLT UJ240AS). On insertion of a Blu-ray disk Toast reverts to the internal drive (Optiarc DVD), clicks and does not mount. When the Blu-ray disk is ejected the drive once again is displayed in Destination within Toast. This may not be the fault of the new system, I haven't tried to burn a Blu-ray for some time. Also getting hardware issues being displayed on the Matshita BD when trying to burn a DVD (Interface Error: 4). Are the above problems symptomatic of a failing drive or possibly 10.8? thanx da5id.

    Mpeg4 To Blu-Ray...

Hi all, I was wondering if it is possible burn a blu-ray video using an mpeg4 file? When I dragged the mpg file into the Blu-ray Video window the file size dropped from 15GB to 5GB. When Toast Titanium 10 asked for a disk I inserted a Verbatim BD-R 25GB. The disk was not recognized by Toast. I shut the application down and inserted the Blu-ray disk. Again the disk failed to launch Toast. Any assistence greatly appreciated, thanx da5id. P.S. iMac 2.6GH Intel. Player Optiarc DVD RW AD-5630A. How do I check to make sure the plug-in is installed? P.P.S. If a blu-ray burner is required; Anyone know anything about Panasonic's Matshita USB 2.0 UJ-220 Blu-Ray Burner?

Two questions: RE Avi to Vcd...

tsantee, thanx for all your assistance with this matter. It is becoming increasingly obvious that I need to hit the library. I only have CD's I do not use DivX Converter (I have it, as well as the player.). I insert the CD into my DVD player and it plays. I converted the Avi to Mpeg-1, then somehow got it onto a CD. What is the reference to VCD as a file extension, (eg: PSD_X.VCD) that is on the CD. What is a CD called when it plays a movie that is 1 hour 30 minutes in runtime. I have never used this feature of Toast 8 (Video CD and DVD-Video I have used.), so that is not how I created the disk. Is it possible that the AVI contains a DivX that when dropped into Toast is governed by File size, not length of video? Curiouser and curiouser, so says the cat.

Two questions: RE Avi to Vcd...

This has always been my belief. The thing that I find confusing is that I put an Avi (700 MB) of a movie, onto a VCD. I would have to check the runtime, but I'm sure the movie is well over 60 mins in length (Full length movie). Just checked the time with VLC and it states the file is 1 hour 20 minutes 59 seconds. It is this VCD that I'm trying to replicate. I have tried so many techniques and programmes to do it. I forgot the method used to create the VCD. I'm just confused and overloaded with various methods, and it is a slow process when working with encoding video. The VCD in question consists of four (4) folders; EXT. (LOT_X.VCD, PSD_X.VCD,) MPEGV. (AVSEQ1.DAT) 698 MB SEGMENT. VCD. (ENTRIES.VCD, INFO.VCD, LOT.VCD, PSD.VCD) It looks like the above was accomplished using Toast 8.

Two questions: RE Avi to Vcd...

Could someone please tell me the best way to convert Avi's, around the 700 MB mark, to fit on a CD? I have used VisualHub for the first time today. the app. managed to create an 367 MB Mpeg from a 700 MB Avi. Problem is when I drop this file into Toast 8 to create a VCD I get: "There's not enough free space on this disc: 1.04 GB is needed, 702.8 MB are available." The other applications that I am experimenting with at the moment are: iVCD. ffmpegX. VisualHub. StreamClip. Anyone that could point me in the right direction, I would be eternally grateful. thanx Da5id. PB G4 1.67. Mac OS X 10.4.10.
