I wanted to take a moment to say thanks to all for your assistance and let you know that I have been having consistent success now with EMC9 as long as I keep my expectations not too high. I've done several Videowave productions and rolled them to My DVD with great success, and have just finished one for work that also involved multiple DVD copies being created by the Copy DVD function that all worked well. Minor glitches, but I have to admit overall good success. I have even tried not bothering to stop other extraneous programs and just gone ahead and worked on the projects with no problems whatsoever.

    EMC 9 Update is OUT

fair 'nuff. Going back to the original thread of this discussion regarding the update - what version are we talking about that this will cover? I'm running version 9.1.068. Is that the most recent?

Skipped - thanks. Videowave is working well. I'm leaning towards a conversion here...

I'm trying to get Videowave working, but my laptop is telling me that I need something added to Windows Media Player and I get the redirection. I go there, and I have to go to another page for the prerequisites - any help?

    EMC 9 Update is OUT

How many fixups from the kind people at Roxio Support do individuals have to do before ot's realized that there are issues here that aren't necessarily related to the Windows setup as you mention? I could understand that my older laptop couldn't cut the mustard for the Roxio program - I went out and bought a new one. We're talking days old, not months, and the only program that I started off on it was the Roxio. Now I'm having problems. And again, this is not to say that I haven't received a terribly HUGE amount of advice and help in these discussion boards - even for yourself. I don't 'see' all the individuals that are NOT having problems - just the ones that are.

Where would I find the tutorials that you mention?

Thanks, Walt. You, of course, are right. I just had hoped that it would be easier and I was going to have to resort to my old Momento program that I still have. Thank you for the suggestion, I had been provided with the direction to Videowave in another discussion and I'm champing at the bit to leave work so that I can go home and try it!

My bad. I should have been more specific. A while ago I found a program called Momento that allowed you to take pictures and make them into a slideshow presentation with music added in, along with transitions and panning within the slides etc., etc., however was a total resource hog and limited you to 1 hour or 50 photos. When I saw that Roxio had a similar program but with more room (can't remember the name of the program right now), I thought it would be a great move-up. Got to the store, was told about all the great features of Roxio EMC9 and thought that it would be a better idea instead - I might not use all the features now, but I probably will eventually. A tad disappointed is all, as I'm trying to put something together for a wedding I did the photography for. I CAN say that, for the most part, I have been getting a lot of great tips, tricks and hints on how to make this work from these forums. I guess I'm a little too new at this 'buying programs' process and I expect too much. Like to have all the features work without having to resort to all sorts of workarounds.

thanks - I've taken your advice.

    Burning Problems--Continuation

There weren't any specific problems that this thread indicated - just that there were 'all kinds of problems' from a different thread that was created. 'Me too' was the response to the possible issue about the video card and just so happens that I have the nvidia card, also, on an upgraded system, and that upgrading might not be the route to take. The person who started the thread has someone commiserating with him. Pardon me if I've done something wrong.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try. However, wouldn't it be nice if everything worked? My original plan was to buy just the program that moves pictures to DVD, however was convinced that THIS was the way to go. I should have stood my ground...

    Burning Problems--Continuation

I went out and BOUGHT a new computer, with all the suggestions that are listed above. I'm still having problems with the program, although not the same problem as you. Keep hanging in there - it should get better.
  14. Funny you mention this. I got the same thing with AVG, and when I looked at it, the only thing that this 'virus-Trojan' does is change you home page.

I'm using a Dell Vostro 1500 Intel Core Duo Processor at 2.0 GHZ, 2GB DDR, 667 Mhz, 2 DIMM, and the video card is 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT (video card), 160gb HD (I bought this last week). From what I've seen on the box for the program before I bought it, I shouldn't have any problems with the program in relation to my computer. I'm using Slideshow Assistant and the most recent EMC9 as I've been advised to apply two different patches so far. I've updated DX files, made sure that I'm running the most recent and updated drivers. And this hasn't been a first time situation - I've been working on this for over a week now, and have easily put 25+ hours into this. Is it too much to expect that a program will work when you get it? And sknis? .dss is the file type created when you save a slideshow. It was new to me too.
