Hello here is my discussion from another post ..... new issue is at the bottom.
I have a friend with the following error.
His backup fails ever so often (it freezes and just sits there and spins) and he has this error.
The catalog has been repaired. Previous catalog information may have been lost. Your backup data data should be on the media which it was backed up to. Use the device view button on the resource tab to restore data from previous backups.
What can I do to fix this?
An answer I received ....
My guess is his catalog file is very large and no maintenance has been done on it. Once a backup is no longer needed, he should delete the entry in the catalog and do a compact of it. As he is having a problem now, about the only way to fix catalog problem is to delete the catalog and start over.
He might try to go into the catalog and clean up old backups, then do a compress. maybe he will get lucky.
After deleting the catalog, he can still recover data from his backups. Using device view, select to the backup file or disk, and it will create a temporary catalog that you can use to restore files with. It is only temporary, and will not be saved.
My issue now....
He had me wait looking any farther and trying anything different ..
Now this is what happens. It simply fails. When you try to open the program it says That backup MyPC has detected an error in the catalog. The catalog must be repaired in order to continue. Select yes to repair now. Select no to exit. If you click yes, it simply goes away. If you try to open the program the warning comes back.
Oh and the backup does not happen either.
