  1. This is for the Digital Guru, I have a brand new Dell with plenty of power and memory..using Windows 8. I installed Roxio NXT , and MYDVD does not see either drives when drying to burn. The burn button stays gray..I tried different media on both drives. I tried upgrading all my Windows 8 drivers and nothing changed. I installed the PX Engine newer version 16A, and again nothing... the funny thing is that when I insert a blank DVD, the speed for burning shows up, but nothing else happens..there has to be a fix for this.. Ive read many post with the same problem and Ive tried all the tricks, but now I ran out of tricks out of my hat.. Ive seen you answer many people on this, but maybe by now you have a solution... any help will be appreciated.. thanks
  2. I'll keep this short because I've made enough posts, but it is a problem with Roxio NXT MyDVD not able to see certain optical drives. I found a drive that would work with Roxio's NXT MyDVD which proves my point! It was an older drive, but works. Roxio needs to find a way to fix the problem. It's not a bad installation or drivers, or video formats, or bad media blank disc, or the PX Engine, it is Roxio NXT's MyDVD not being able to recognize certain optical drives...how hard could that be to fix!

UPDATE: After reading different posts and almost giving up, I was reading to try another drive, I had 2 blu-ray drives in my computer, one was read only and the other was read and write. And they were suppose to be able to burn normal DVD's as well, anyhow, I got one of my older drives from an older computer that had died - 4 years old - and pulled out the blu-ray "read only" drive out of my computer and installed this older drive, and guess what? It works!!! I still can't burn blu-ray, but I can now burn regular DVD's in that older drive... so again, it has something to do with MyDVD not seeing certain optical drives in Windows 8-64, because it used to see my blu-ray drive in my Windows 7-32 bit OS with no problems, but not in Windows 8-64... I'm still waiting to hear back from Roxio. The last time they wrote me, told me to uninstall NXT, following their specific instructions, which I did, and do a clean install to see if that would help..and it did not,... the blu-ray drive still not working. But it works fine in all my other programs like Nero and Director 11. So that's my update for the minute.OH... and I just updated my computer's OS to Windows 8.1, and still nothing...FYI

I bought Nero 12 Platinum but I don't think you'll be happy with it. It's missing a lot of features that we are used to with Roxio. I tried another DVD drive and it this resolve the problem with reading and writing, so you may try that. I'm running Windows 8 - 64 bit.

My F drive is the BD drive and the other I just installed is only DVD... but you have to remember this, it works in Roxio when making data or music or whatever, it's when I output a project to "MyDVD" is when the blank media is not valid or seen... here is the info.

I have NXT Pro, and your right, it doesn't solve the problem entirely, because it should see my BD drives, but at least it's a step in the right direction. If the problem is in the drivers and NXT not seeing those drivers, then you would think that it would be an easy fix for Roxio, don't you think? This computer is only a few months old and it came with one BD drive, I had another BD drive, so I installed it as well, but that one one was about 3 or 4 years old. Windows 8 had no problem seeing the drives, but NXT couldn't see them at all. The DVD drive I installed came from an older HP computer and it's also about 4 years old, but works as I said. I inserted a BD blank disk in the BD drive, and MyDVD in NXT still said No Disk in drive. So I can't burn a BD disk. But for now I can burn a regular DVD disk.

Well, well, well.... I just had an idea this morning to try another drive and low and behold it WORKED! I had 2 Blue Ray drives in my system and I'm guessing that MyDVD didn't recognize either drives, so I installed a regular DVD drive and it sees that one. And I can officially say that it works. Don't know if it's a problem with Windows 8-64 or a problem with Roxio NXT, all I know is that it works... hope this helps others and I will post this message on the other forum boards with this topic.

  9. Jerry, hope you see this, but let me put my 2 cents in. I have been using NXT in my older Dell Desktop computer with Windows 7, and it worked fine. I upgraded my computer to another Dell with Windows 8 and NXT, and it did not see any of the drives. Now remember this is the same exact NXT program I used in the older Dell. I had so much frustration trying to figure out the problem, I finally gave up and returned the Dell while it was returnable. So I go out and get a new ASUS computer, which is suppose to be good computer. And it is, but again with Windows 8, NXT or I should say MyDVD didn't see the drives. To this day, it's still not seeing the drives. I've come to the conclusion that it's not a problem with hardware on any computer but with Roxio NXT software and Windows 8... I can't imagine how many other people are having this same issue. I bought Nero and everything works as it should. Now Roxio is advertizing NXT2, and I'm not about to purchase another version until this one is patched, fixed or whatever. I did get a response from Roxio saying that they were aware of the problem and that in the meantime, I should burn an image disk first and then burn to disk. Which does work, but this other problem should be resolved. I do know that this NXT seems to work better in Laptops for whatever reason. I just hope someday they figure it out. I know this doesn't help you solve the problem, but don't think it's your drives or blanks, it's NOT... it's definitely a problem with NXT and Windows 8 on Desktops.

Most software you purchase now has a patch or upgrade the minute you install it... I would test beta software if they offered it to me! There are so many different configurations out there, I'm sure that is why it's impossible to find all the bugs... A friend of mine has the same OS and NXT and has a different problem with NXT, it reboots when he puts a blank disk in his drive...again, some type of conflict between NXT and another program. He also uninstalled it and hasn't had that problem since. It is what it is, but kills me to think I gave Roxio $99 for the upgrade and can't use it the way it should be used.

I'll post once I hear back from Roxio with a solution that actually works. I just uninstalled Roxio NXT and reinstalled Roxio 2011 and everything works as it should... so it's definitely a bug in the NXT version. I wish they would test their software with different configurations and different computers and all OS, 32 and 64 bit versions before selling it to the public and create all these headaches. The average person cannot do many of the changes that are suggested, it should work right out of the box..with no issues. I also use Cyberlink Power Director with no issues whatsoever. Anyway, hope we get answer soon. If I could ask for my money back I would, but it's been six months since my upgrade purchase.

@Tripplec , Its not the computer, trust me on this one, I bought a brand new Dell, had the same problem, returned it and bought an Asus, even better computer, both with Windows 8 64 bit, both did the same thing. The problem isn't fixed yet. I tried all the tricks the Gurus have posted and one got a little irritated with me, but having said that, it's still not working. I can burn a Data disk in Roxio NXT but nothing in MyDVD.. I contacted Roxio and this is what they said!! Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support. To be honest with you, we haven't figure out any exact solution for this one so we are suggesting any alternative workaround that might work. Since ISO is working, you can work with it until we figure out this issue. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions. I'm hoping enough people complain so that they find a solution, it has something to do with Windows 8 -64 and Roxio NXT, NOT the computer. Roxio 11 worked ok before the upgrade, so I may go back to that, the only problem is that when I went back to Roxio 11 on the Dell, it did something and I wasn't able burn there either. Also be aware that NXT has a count..you can only install it 10 times, After that you have to get Roxio to reset the count... All my other programs see both of my drives, so its a problem with Roxio NXT... sorry for the bad news... I got a nice guy from Roxio to help me, so maybe when he comes up with the answer, I'll post it. It is frustrating. Here is what you can do while we wait... burn an Image file in MyDVD istead of burning to disk, and download Active ISO Burn -its free and works good. It will produce the same effect as if you were burning to disk. Hope this information helps. Jack

Drive Is Empty In Roxio Nxt Mydvd

I appreciate the fact that your all trying to help, but when they start being disrespectful , thats when I draw the line. I wasn't understanding his instructions when referring to post numbers.. The point is, if your going to be here to help, you got to have patience...a lot of us are beginners and learning as we go! There is no reason to get nasty like he did! He needs to explain himself better, and keep is cool!

Why are you on this forum with an attitude? I just noticed that the posts are numbered on THE FAR RIGHT, I was always looking on the left, where it should be! But always assumed you were talking about the 17 solutions in BLUE that you print each and every time you post! I did run that pxengine, more then once, and told you that! Don't know if you work for Roxio or not, but if you do, I don't think they would be happy with the way you respond to people like me needing help! You don't have to go out of your way and help me anymore, I can find someone else with a little more patience... You should find another hobby!

Drive Is Empty In Roxio Nxt Mydvd

When you say Post #6 , Im assuming you mean ( in BLUE) Line number 6, where it says Click Here You no longer access the CD Drive or DVD drive? I did that, both with the FIX IT and Manually by uninstalling the drivers, re-booting and trying the program again... Unless there is a Post #6, which these posts are not numbered, if we are talking about these Topic Posts? Again, I've done all of that, probably too many times already... I noticed now that the lowerfilters in my registry are gone...and I didn't remove them myself, so something I did removed them. But nothing has changed... the program " MY DVD" in Roxio, still does not see the drives. NEXT?

Here is another weird deal...my drives works in Roxio, but not MyDVD which is a program within Roxio! I can burn a data disk and an audio disk, but when I work on videos and then try to make a DVD in MYDVD, thats when both drives are not seen...

Ok, now I'm confused...I thought I was talking to the same person... but apparently not... when you say pxengine4_18_16a re-apllied..what does that mean? do you want me to re-install? I installed it once, but nothing changed... and what do I need to do get lower filters...? I'm not that experienced and trying to understand, but again, I'm a little confused! What can I try or do next...there has to be a simple solution!

Drive Is Empty In Roxio Nxt Mydvd

ok...I went to My Registry, saved or exported a copy, looked at the GUID number for my DVD drives and by the way, under Device manager, they are both the same... I don't get an error code, so I can't find and error code in the registry. I found the Lower Filter number is PxHiPa64, but couldn't find any UpperFilter numbers to look at anywhere, even in the Device manager, no error codes. I didn't make any changes because I don't know where to go from here. My last post, I meant to say that YES, I have the windows 8 -64 bit version... any other suggestions? I appreciate your help.

    Too long to burn PhotoShow

I have the same problem I've never seen a program to take hours to create a slideshow with just 50 images... what is the problem. I did all the updates, so I'm running the latest version, no I'm not a premium member and don't plan to be if it's going to be that slow. I have 3g of memory, plenty of hardive space. I'm running Roxio Creator 2011, so I'm assuming that's how I ended up with Photoshow. It loads the pictures fast enough and instantly plays the slideshow and music, when you want to burn or make a video file of any resolution, it just sits there forever. I don't have the time or patience to let my computer to sit there for 3 to 4 hours.... Why can't Roxio fix this?
  24. I purchased the new Roxio Creator 10 and it still does not have the option for capturing in 16:9.... Nero has it...why not Roxio? Am I missing an option somewhere? My video camera captures in 16:9 and I need to capture it the same way...does any one have the solution to capturing in 16:9, widescreen in Roxio?
