Mac OS error result code -50

Thanks Freshburn, The information helps. I'll now have to do some research into my dvd home recorder to find out it has a video mode, I'm assuming with the problems I'm having it is by default doing it in VR mode and it may not have a video mode. I did purchase toast last night, I copied the video_ts folder to my hard drive, told toast to convert to the video_ts to dv format but after 5 hours, the status bar had not even moved but this is something I'll put on the toast forum. I should have just purchased an ads video capture hub which I may do in the end and save myself compatibilty headaches if ads doesn't support issues on the new intel mac. haha. However as time consuming as it is I'll keep experimenting. Thanks again, Marcus

Mac OS error result code -50

Hi Freshburn, Excuse my beginner technical knowledge level. haha but what does that your findings mean? My home recorder states that it uses dvd+R but I think I can still use a dvd-R. Or does your findings mean that my home dvd recorder is incompatible? sorry but what is VR and what does DVD-VR recorded in VR mode are all blocked? I guess I'm a little frustrated because all I want to do is get my vhs tapes onto my mac so I can edit them and make dvds. Thanks for all your help and research. Marcs

Mac OS error result code -50

Hello Freshburn, The DVD is a DVD+R, does this still apply to your theory as to what the problem could be?

Thanks for clarifying that, you are correct. MTR is not being used, a stand alone home dvd recorder is what was used. I'm a beginner so excuse the silly question but what does the version of quicktime have to do with converting a dvd or video_ts to a file format? the OS I can understand but not quicktime and I'll double check my OS version because I have put updates on it recently. I'd be willing to run other tests but I don't have another way of recording vhs to dvd or video_ts other then my home dvd recorder.

Mac OS error result code -50

Hi Freshburn I can give you some information. I am having the same problem. I have a jvc vcr hooked to a home dvd recorder. I recorded a family vacation vhs tape to dvd. I inserted the dvd into my imac and copied the video_ts folder over to my harddrive. This is what I posted on the thread I started called importing dvd to file format. The content is not protected. The VIDEO_TS was copied from a DVD to my hard drive. Here is what I sent support. The program: Popcorn2 The error message: "couldn't complete the last command because of a Mac OS error result code=-50". Step by step what I am doing: Open Popcorn 2 Click on the Player tab For video source I choose video_ts folder Click on select and choose my video_ts folder output options are device: mpeg-4 Player quality: standard save to: movies folder I hit export and get the above stated error. It doesn't matter if my source is dvd or video_ts I get the same error. Just as a note the video_ts folder that produces the error burns fine to a dvd from the DVD tab. Operating system is ox 10.4.4 on a intel mac.

I am getting the same error, I am the one that opened the topic "Exporting DVD to file format". Technical support has not given me a solution yet.

    Exporting DVD to file format

The content is not protected. The VIDEO_TS was copied from a DVD to my hard drive. The DVD I am using is a copy of vhs tape from my vacation like 7 years ago. I hope I'm just making a silly mistake or just missing some file.

The source is a DVD, the source is not a VIDEO_TS folder. The player tab gives you an option of using a DVD as a source but it doesn't work.

    Exporting DVD to file format

Any combination of options I choose on the Player tab to export a DVD to a file I get the following error "couldn't complete the last command because of a Mac OS Error. result code = -50". Has anybody gotten this feature to work on a intel mac using popcorn 2.
