    USB 2861 Device Error

I did the "clean install" removing everything (including the USB Video device driver) of the program, rebooted, plugged in the USB Device, canceled Found New Hardware, installed the software from the CD, rebooted, applied SP2, rebooted. I still get the same result, "Unknown capture error", after selecting the USB Device, after about a 2 count. (I tried it in all 7 USB ports too.) The driver info in device manager is still the same as it was before. Windows Movie Maker also gives me the same error messages as before. Now what? I am open to any ideas!

    USB 2861 Device Error

    1) I have a purchased disc 2) The on-line driver came from this Roxio site: http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/conte...8CR&PARAMS= "Roxio Video Capture USB is not recognized by Roxio Products Knowledgebase Article : 000218CR" 3) I loaded it in because I got the "Unknown Error" problem. But trying to remember back, I can't recall if I tried it first without installing the online driver. I'm sure I did but ... I can re-try again with the un-install/clean install procedure, without loading in the online driver (or SP2).

    USB 2861 Device Error

The Video card I am running in the computer is an (PCI) ATI Radion HD 4650 (I forget how much mem but it is a bunch). Will that have a baring on the USB Video Capture Device?

    USB 2861 Device Error

I tried that just now and it doesn't work there either. In device manager is says it is working but .... It came up with the errors: First; devise not responding. Close any other apps using device and try again. (There aren't any that I know of running.) Second: The video device cannot be used ... an error when starting. How do I get the driver working? It came with Easy VHS to DVD. On the back it says: UB315-E ver2

    USB 2861 Device Error

When I start the "Capture Video" program it runs fine. I then select "USB 2861 device" from the "Select a device or source to import from". The Status says "No Signal", then about 2 seconds later a window appears titled "Video Capture" and says "Unknown capture error" and has and "OK" button. At the same time the status changes to "Capture device removed". It does this even if I touch nothing on the computer. I am running Windows XP, sp3, 2Gb mem, 2.0 (enhanced) USB, over 500 Gb free HD space (1 Tb HD), Dual Intel CPUs (6300 @ 1.86 GHz). I have installed it twice, used the clean install, updated to sp2, loaded the online capture driver, and I have put the USB capture device into every USB port on the computer. I tried the video capture after each change and it always does the same thing. I then tried to load it into my Laptop (Vista Op.), and after having to uninstall and re-installing (using the clean install and loading the updates), it works fine! Unfortunately it doesn't have the HD capacity to capture much video. (something like 10 mins!) How do I get this to run on my desktop XP machine?
