Upon trying to restore some of our files we found that our .exe files were missing or never backed up. This is a critical failure in our opinion, especially when the user is never warned. The user thinks that all their files are properly backed up only to find, following a catastrope, that they cannot restore critical files. This particular behavior has already alienated us from Windows Vista Backup, Norton 360 Backup, and other similar applications that exclude files and do not allow the user to change the behavior.
We have many small applications legally downloaded as executable utilities for cameras, musical instruments, computer hardware/software upgrades, computer peripherals, audio-video equipment, etcetera. It is unacceptable to find that all of these valuable files are missing without warning. Does the backup program exclude .exe or other program files? If so, how do we disable this setting so that we can backup and restore all our files properly?
