  1. Scott! I just came across this topic while trying to solve this exact problem... I've been tearing out what little hair I left for six months over just this issue... Just followed your workaround and it worked like a charm!!! The best help I've ever gotten on this forum... Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Best, Frank

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

And... Problem solved... After all this, the issue (which a friend just pointed out to me), was that in doing a clean install of my Creator 2010, I also needed to install the Creator 2010 Service Pack 2 Update... It now works again. It's often the simplest things that can make all the difference... Brendon, you were always polite and patient, and tried everything you could to help me... If I can navigate the weeds of the Roxio website, I shall give you "props" for your good-natured attitude... Quite unlike some on the gnomes, gremlins, and trolls that call themselves "gurus" on here... I sense some of them need to leave their basements and step into the sunlight... Perhaps it's a Vitamin D deficiency that makes them so impossibly rude. Cheers, F

Dear Brendon... I'm ignoring the other response, as his attitude is one of the problems with Roxio support... Does he honestly no think he "throwing shade" (as we say in the States)? I honestly don't think I was being insulting, but his patronizing response is unacceptable... I (and several friends) have dealt with that nasty man before. If one is in customer support, they need to know that I paid money for this product, and am asking for help with a product that has a LOT of bugs (truthfully)... You have been very helpful, but... You wrote: It would have been nice to know early that you had tried other burners, as it would have obviated a couple of hours work here testing some things for you. I wasn't being sarcastic, I was being honest. The fact is, I DID tell you I had tried other burners (back on October 27)... I realize you didn't join the conversation until after that point, but there it is. Thanks for your suggestion. I will try SFC, then move on to CyberLink. Best, Frank

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Dear Brendon: On 27 October 2014 - 09:45 AM, I posted: (I've tried this on both my Samsung external burner and the burner on my laptop to the same result). So PLEASE don't give me "It would have been nice to know early that you've already tried other burner drives."... You guys seem to see only what you want to see, then like to treat everyone like they are complete incompetents... I thank you for your help, but let's not cast aspersions when I have been absolutely honest about every step I have tried... I'm not an idiot, and don't appreciate being treated like one... Any further suggestions? Best, Frank

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Hi there... I've tried to install imgburn, by my anti-virus threw up a ton of red flags... I don't want to install the Ask toolbar, and once I rejected that, it wouldn't go any further... I think there must be a corrupted or missing file... I've tried TWO different external DVD burners, in addition to my own DVD drive in my laptop, so I don't think it's a burner issue... I'll try SFC, but will it wipe out Windows from my computer? I have a Lenovo laptop that came with WIndows installed, so I don't have a disc... Thanks, gentlemen! FV

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Hi Brendon... I took a clip and saved it as an ISO file... Downloaded VLC Player and it played no problem... Burned a copy of the ISO to disc, both with the Data/Copy feature and by using Windows Explorer... Both times, the burner claimed the disc burned successfully, but neither of them will play... I get the same "Blank Disc" "No Disc" messages in all my machines... Hmmm... What next? This says to me that there is no problem with the capture of a clip or creating a file... There's just some glitch in my software... A missing file perhaps? Thanks again, and I'm sorry to be a constant bother. FV

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Hello Brendon! Now even things that I previously captured are not burning... And I get the following msg when I try to burn on my latop" Failed to start the image writing operation Error while Burning Image 80004003 Error while Aborting The Samsung external burner actually goes through the motions, but nothing... Tried three different brands of discs, but to no avail... I've already done a delete and clean install of Creator 2010... twice. Hmmm... Any advice? Thanks, Frank

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Hello Brendon! Sorry, I had to go out of town for a week on business... Back and still trying to solve the problem... I did as you asked... Downloaded a 2 minute clip from YouTube... no prob downloading it. Burned it as I do all other projects in MyDVD... Turned off the sound and motion... Burned it, and it's not playing on any machine. Still didn't hear the stronger "surge" that I hear when a project is burning the final step... What's very strange is that for a 2 minute clip, the are of the disc that has visible data on it is much larger than would normally occur with a 2-minute clip... It looks like about 1/4 of the disc has data, and yet all my players are treating it like a blank disc. So it's not the VHS to DVD capture, and it's not downloading a clip... I still believe there is a missing file, and it's failing to finalize the disc... I've asked this before, and I'll ask it again, is there anyway I can do a scan of my computer and see what files or extensions I'm missing? Thanks a bunch. FV

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Yes, I can burn things captured previously to this latest hiccup! I think the TOC step is the final step that I am failing to hear in the "surge" as I call it... Is there something I am missing that has been inadvertently deleted when I stupidly used the registry feature of the CC Cleaner? Thanks! Frank

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Hi gentlemen... I burn by capturing the VHS tape to a file in Videowave using the Roxio Video capture device... I can watch the clip on my laptop no problem, so I know it is not the capture device. I then drag and drop it into the Timeline. I send it to MyDVD, turn off the Motion and Sound on the Menu as I always do, and burn the project a 6X... It burns quite quickly as the clip is only 2 min loing... at 97% I get the usual flashes of the menu, then the burning process begins... I don't know if this makes sense, but towards the end of the burning process, there is usually a strong hum (I call it a "surge") as the disc is getting ready to eject from the burner... As was the case with the last time this happened (I think about two or three years ago), the surge is still there but it's not as strong as it usually is... In fact, I can kinda tell it hasn't burned properly by the sound the burner has made (I've tried this on both my Samsung ecternal burner and the burner on my laptop to the same result). There is visible data on the disc itself, but will not be recognized by any of four devices. When I check "Get Disc Information", it says "DVD+ R Blank Media", but as I said, there is visible data on the surface of the disc... It's almost as if the disc is burning but not finalizing. What brand would you suggest besides Memorex? I will NOT use Sony DVDs after an experience a few years ago where 12 discs out of a spindle of 50 were bum... Thanks again for any guidance, Frank

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Hi there... I'm using the Roxio VHS capture device to capture a 2 minute clip (had previously tried to burn an hour long clip, but I have scaled that back so as to not waste any more time). This is a clip that I have previously captured and burned successfully for VHS to DVD, so it is not an issue with the source material. THe Roxio deivce is recognized properly. Capturing to the DVD HQ setting. I am using Memorex DVD+ discs, and as I said, have successfully burned other DVDs from that spindle using previously captured material, so the discs are not an issue... 68 GB is just fine for my computer... Have burned over two hundred successful projects with space at one point down to 20 GB, so the space is also not an issue. I am burning the disc at 6X, just as I always have... Nothing will recognize the disc, not my laptop, my two DVD players, or my Samsung external DVD burner... Is there any way to determine what files I may be missing? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Best, Frank

Cc Cleaner... What Was I Thinking?!?

Hi Walt! Thanks for getting back to me... Yes, I definitely have Creator 2010... Sorry I posted in the wrong forum. It completes the burning process, and there is a visible burn on the disc itself... Then none of my players or my computer can load the DVD... I'm using discs from the same spindle, and when I burn something that I captured about six months ago (long before this recent hitch), it burns with no problem. Not sure if that means that the problem is occurring during the capture or the burn. I tried an uninstall and a clean install of Creator 2010 and checked for updates, but to no avail... I seem to remember the CC Cleaner may have wiped out a dll file... Thanks again for any guidance! Best, Frank
  13. Hello all... I was having a problem with malware on my computer and did a major cleaning... I STUPIDLY used the registry cleaner feature of CC Cleaner, and now I can't burn a DVD using Roxio Creator 2010... In my distant memory I recall I did this several years ago and using that had wiped out something that was vital to burning... I can capture no problem, but after I burn the disc my player (after trying to load for several minutes) finally says "No Disc"... Weirdly, I can burn things that I captured previously to my cleaning... 68 GB of free space, defragged, Lenovo laptop, Win 7... Thanks for any help, and I promise I won't use the reg cleaner again!!! Thanks, F

Roxio Vhs Capture Device Glitch - Oy!

Hi... Thanks for the reply... My hard drive is 34.3GB I was using the Disk Defrag on the computer... I've now installed Auslogics and defragged with it. All unnecessary files have been moved, and all trial video projects have been deleted. I was already using CCleaner to get rid of junk files, and installed Revo Uninstaller... Got rid of some unwanted files. Yes, I've tried two VCRs and tried all kinds of tapes, including ones previously captured... Still having the same issues. Not sure what the best power setting is... I currently have it at "Max Battery" Any further suggestions? Best, Frank

Roxio Vhs Capture Device Glitch - Oy!

Hello anyone and everyone... Have returned from vacation with new determination to figure out why I still can't capture from my VCR without the major glitches. The device is working in WMM, but is still breaking up when I try to capture in Roxio. I'd prefer to capture it as an mpeg, as the quality is better than a wmv. There is definitely something interfering with the capture in Roxio. What could that possibly be? I now have 18G free on this computer, and it worked perfectly for so many months. I notice in WMM you have the ability to turn off Roxio filters if they cause problems. Could something be doing the same in Roxio? Thanks in advance for any help. And yes, I defrag, turn off any unnecessary processes, every time before I try to capture. Best, Frank
