    Writing Lead-Out hangs...

Generic from a local tech shop. It works great on single-layer discs, but no luck on DVD+R DL in Toast. The burner itself is a NEC OEM (Mad Dog Multimedia). I can burn DVD+R DL on the drive from iDVD 6 but the picture quality is not very good and the audio is out of sync.

    Writing Lead-Out hangs...

Toast is hanging indefinitely at "writing lead-out" on a double-layer disc. Media is Verbatim DVD+R DL; drive is a NEC-based drive with the latest firmware (Firewire connection). Is there anything I can do and still have a readable disc?

    QuickTime/Final Cut Chapter Markers

Reposting as my previous post had an error in the title. Well, I've found what seems to be a problem in Toast 8. I'm wondering if there are any workarounds. I burned a DVD from Final Cut Express using iDVD. It burned fine, but the quality was low. The chapter markers were all as I had set them in FCE. I then burned a DVD from within Toast 8. The picture quality was great, but the chapters were auto-assigned by Toast (not what I set). I had set "Automatic" for chapter markers. How do I get Toast to respect the QuickTime chapter markers I set?

    Toast / Leopard?

I highly doubt we'll see another paid update (Toast 9) that soon! Based on past updates, if Toast 8 isn't fully Leopard-compatible, Toast 8.0.1 or 8.1 will be a free download.

    Custom and Widescreen DVD menus

Is there any way to create custom DVD menus and have them show up in the drop-down menu for use when creating new DVDs? Also, can I create 16x9 menus (in Photoshop, if not from within in Toast 8)?

    Toast 8

The page hasn't been updated yet. "Patatrox" specifically said it would not involve a mail in rebate. Keep watching...

Thank you, looking forward to it.

    Toast 8

I changed email addresses so I don't get the emails from Roxio anymore. Is there a URL for getting the $30 rebate?

    Burning double-layer media

Does Toast Titanium have the ability to let me choose the break point between layers on dual-layer media (Verbatim DVD+R DL) -- or is it at least nice enough to set the break point between chapters? Any recommendations on getting the best quality on a dual-layer project? I have a 100-minute main video and four smaller clips at about five minutes each. My main concern is that the break point can't be in the middle of a chapter as it would cause a break in playback on some DVD players. If there's a short break between scenes, no problem. I have Toast Titanium 7.1.2 (Intel).

iMovie 06 Chapter Markers in Toast 7.1

I remember after QuickTime 7 came out there was a period of time when Toast 7 couldn't import the iMovie chapter markers at all. Has this been fixed? Also, can Toast 7.1 read Final Cut Express chapter markers?

    Toast 7 or iDVD 6?

I have both Toast 7.1 and iDVD 6 installed on my Intel MacBook. I've been using iDVD happily for a year or two (on another computer) but am noticing some quality issues and compression artifacts when I play my created DVDs on the MacBook. This is even when using iDVD's "Best Quality" setting with just 1 hour of video. So my question is this: can I get better results with Toast 7.1 Universal Binary? Can I still burn widescreen DVDs preserving Final Cut Express HD chapter markers? How do the menus compare to iDVD? Overall, which will serve me better?
