Unable To Unarchive Error After D/l

I purchased and Registered Toast 9 and the plugin at the $79.99 upgrade price. Finding out that I could have gotten it for $59.99 I went thru the refund/repurchase process. That worked fine and I just now got my $79.99 credited back to my credit card. I went to the link for the $59.99 and D/L both files again. When I double clicked on the Toast 9 zipped file I got the above error. The first installation of Toast 9 and the plugin went fine and I have been able to use Toast 9. I am at a loss as to what the problem is. Last night I did run repair permissions and there were two or three flies that were repaired. I cannot find a way to redownload the files thinking that maybe there is a problem with the one I downloaded. Please advise. Thanks, Bob

Thanks for the quick PM reply Patrick with the links, I sent you a response with a quick question for clarification. Bob

    Why I'm Not Upgrading

My refund was handled very quickly actually. Right over the phone and got the email with the link to accept. I'm assuming that you were able to provide them with the order number that was provided in the email Roxio sent to you when you ordered it in the first place. Not sure what happens if you don't have that available. Did take a bit to find the actual link with the phone number that handles refunds, but it is a toll free number and didn't seem to have to wait a long time to speak to a person. Just wish that the ads on the various pages were either more clear or consistent. Having different pages with different prices confuses matters. (IMHO). I will certainly add that either price, $79.99/$59.99 are very fine prices. MANY, and I include Apple in this practice, DO NOT offer discounts on upgrades to many of their software suites, particularly iLife, etc. Bob

    Why I'm Not Upgrading

Not quite sure who the response is directed at, but when I click on the big blue "Upgrade Center" button I get the following page: http://www.roxio.com/enu/upgrade_center/default.html What a person needs to do is to click on the Toast 8 link and that will get them to the page that has the upgrade price of $59.99. This link which is on the main Roxio page should be changed: http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/ti...m/overview.html Because it shows and upgrade price of $79.99. If that price is meant for first time purchasers, then it should say so and have a separate link to the $59.99 upgrade deal which is for current registered Toast 8 users. Having two different links with two different prices and not distinguishing between them is confusing at best and irrates people at worst. At any rate, I did place a call to customer service who did do the email refund for my purchase and once it is credited to my account I will certainly repurchase it using the link for $59.99. I guess my whole point is that if a person receives an email from Roxio to purchase one of its' products, they should be given the best deal that is offered at the time. Particularly if they are owners of the current version and have registered as such. Bob

    Why I'm Not Upgrading

Patrick, I find this to be a bit perplexing. I received an email from Roxio to purchase Toast 9 for $79.99 and get the plugin at no charge. I used the link in that email and purchased Toast 9 for $79.99 with the plugin included. I then downloaded both apps and registered them. You can verify this by reviewing my registered products. I now see this link (not shown in the email which was sent to me and would have figured that I got the email since I was/have been a registered user of Toast products for a long time) which offers the same for $59.99, a difference of $20.00. Is there a way to refund me the difference? Thanks, Bob ps. Seems like the email notices should include the BEST offer for registered users. I am a registered user of Toast 8.

    Where Is Motion Pictures?

I just d/l and installed Toast 9 and the plugin and noticed that there are new versions of CDSD and Disc cover, but no MP. Has that been dropped? I played with Toast a bit to see if MP capabilities were included in the new version but that does not appear to be the case. If I missed this please let me know. I really enjoyed using MP as a new alternative to iPhoto and the basic slide show that you can do in Toast. Thanks, Bob

I have seen on several very reliable sites (IMHO) that it will be formally announced on March 14th.

    Toast 9

Check this out: System requirements call for a G4 or better (G5 or Intel required for encoding and viewing HD content), CD, DVD or Blu-ray recordable drive, Mac OS X v10.4 or later, 600MB hard disk space for installation, 15GB of free space for usage, QuickTime 7.1.3 or later. I found it here as well as the original MacWorld link.: http://news.yahoo.com/s/macworld/20080310/...yvideostreaming. Bob

    Motion Pictures HD 2.14t

If you are using AAC audio files, they don't play well with MP. I convert them to either aiff or mp3 and all is well. Bob

MP HD (2.1.4t) and ACC Audio Files

MP HD 2.1.4t didn't crash on me while trying to use an AAC file. It went thru the whole export process and when I opened the QT file, that's when the sound started then stopped after 2-3 seconds. (itunes 7.3.2, QT 7.2). I was able to use an apple lossless audio file successfully as well. For me with what I have, it appears that the AAC format does not work. I do have audio hijack pro, so I can record/export and use that file in MP, but its' just more steps and time. Bob I must report that upon futher testing, MP HD now crashes after I click on make movie and set my settings. This is using the same photos and AAC audio file that it would create the QT file but would stop playing the audio but continue the video. I don't know what is happening. The crash window did open with the log to report it to Apple. I made a copy of that crash log in the hope that someone at Roxio would look at it and maybe be able to see what's hapening. Who/how is a good way to send the file as it is very long to post in this message. Thanks, Bob

MP HD (2.1.4t) and ACC Audio Files

Somehow I’m back to a previous problem I had when using MP HD (current version 2.1.4t) and using ACC audio files. The solution to use Perian (version 1.0) worked as well as did AC3 Codec.component (v .4). I could use ACC audio files with MP HD and they played fine when exported to QT or Toast. I am using a PB G4, 10.4.10 with all updates, QT 7.2, Flip4mac 2.1.3.3 (beta). Here is what I do. 1. Open MP HD. 2. Select photos from iPhoto and drag them to the picture pane. 3. Select a song from iTunes (AAC audio file format) and drag it to the music pane. If I double click on the audio file, it plays fine. 4. Click on make movie. 5. Click ok. Select settings. 6. Click ok. Select QT Full Quality DV. 7. Click Export. The export takes place, seems to take much longer than in the past. When its done and I double click on the QT file, it opens and plays 2-3 seconds of the audio and then the audio stops but the video plays. I’ve tried this several times with the same result. If I use an aiff audio file or an mpeg audio file, the QT movie plays both the audio and video as expected. It’s only when I use an ACC file format that it doesn’t work. I even tried exporting the slideshow to Toast instead of QT. It did the export and opened toast and when I tried to play the slideshow within Toast, it stopped playing the audio after 2-3 seconds just as it did when exported to QT. Funny thing is that when I use Toast 8.0.1 and create a DVD album, then save as disc image, those same AAC audio files will play fine as a disc image. Here is what is in my QT plugin folder: AC3 CODEC DIVX encoder/decoder Flip4mac wmv advanced flip4mac wmv import flip4mac wmv export perian Any suggestions? I have done repair permissions, etc. Bob

    CDSD and MPHD Updates

Hi, Version tracker shows the latest updates for CDSD and MPHD, but it takes you to a url that requires payment. Need to update it so that I can get to the d/l page. I logged into my account and see that I am a registered Toast 8 customer. The current d/l page for the s/w dosen't seem to have the latestversion update. Bob

Ah, now the post that Patrick made about the latest update to MPHD makes more sense to me. A quick check of my version of CDSD shows that it is the same version as the one posted on version tracker. Thanks, Bob

    Problem with Motion Picturers

Seems like an extreme amount of work to do to get something to work. Not sure what having an older version of QT will do to other apps. Hopfully this will be fixed in a more direct fashion. Am glad its' working for you though. Bob

    Problem with Motion Picturers

Hi All, While I've been out of it for a while I have used MP many times in the past and just happened to read this thread, so I tried MP and lo and behold I get the very same error. I am using 10.4.10, Toast 8.0.1 and QT 7.2. I know tech support has said that QT has been the cause of other peoblems with components of Toast. Since Apple owns QT, I suppose Roxio is at the mercy of Apple doing a fix. I will miss using MP as I agree with you that it really does a fine job of rendering photos. Tech Support, any fixes possible? Thanks, Bob

    Motion Pictures and AAC/AIFF

Hi, I just installed Toast 8.0 w/o any problems. I was just testing the various apps and noticed something I hadn't experienced before when using Motion Pictures. This problem happens with both MP 212 and 213. I take a group of photos from iphoto and one song from itunes and select them in MP. If the audio file I selected is an Apple lossless or MPEG, I'm home free. If however the audio file I select is either AAC (unprotected) or AIFF one of two things will occur when clicking on "full screen". 1. The app crashes immediately. 2. The slideshow plays but the audio quits after 2-3 seconds. If I try to "make movie" it allows me to select the type (I've tried Toast and QT) and then name the file and where I want it saved to and then it starts the encoding process and after 2-3 minutes, the app crashes. Everything works fine while using either Apple Lossles or MPEG file formats. I can reproduce this everytime and on both my PM G5 and my PB G4. Both are running qt 713 and 10.4.8. I do remember several other having problems with MP crashing but can't recall the specifics. Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions? I have about 80% of my music (non ITS) in the AAC format. Is there a simple way to convert them to MPEG? Bob

How do you successfully do crossfades & fades?

Since you mentioned "narration", I'm hoping you mean that these tutorials will be QT video as opposed to still images with text. I find that videos seem so much more clear and can be paused or replayed as needed. Bob

DVD from QuickTime with No Audio

I have had problems using aiff audio files in toast when doing motion picture slideshows. I've never been able to figure out why. I have had success in converting the audio file to Apple Lossless or MPEG and then it seems to work. Bob See this thread: http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=15487
