    Jerky Video

That's the same question I asked above and never heard back. Seems to me that it would answer the question about whether Toast 8 is the issue or if the media/player combination is the culprit. Bob

Set Button Isn't Working with .avi files

I have several .avi files that I am trying to set the button picture and for whatever reason when I get the clip I want to be the button and click on "set button picture" it remains blank. The video files play fine within Toast (v8) it just dosen't allow me to set a particular clip. This is true for all the .avi files. It is the same on Toast (v7) as well. I don't have this issue if I am using .mov or mpeg4 files. Is it a limitation with .avi files or am I missing something? It really is unattractive looking at a bunch of black buttons on the menu. Thanks, Bob ps they are actually Xvid 640x372 and Xvid 640x368 files. Hope this helps

Set Button Isn't Working with .avi files

To be sure that the video actually works and can be viewed, I encoded a disc image and it does work as expected. But the menu is very unapealing as each title has a blackened image. there's got to be a bug somewhere that causes .Xvid files to not allow you to set the button. Any one else experienceing this. As I said, button images work fine with .mov and mpeg4 files. Thanks, Bob

Set Button Isn't Working with .avi files

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion, but it dosen't make any difference. The button image in the main window is also black. Clicking on it and moving the scroll bar does not show the actual video. When I click on edit/video and play it in the preview, it does fine, but it will not change the button to be what you want it to be. There must be something with Xvid video files that don't work well with the setting of the thumb nail image in the main window and the set button window in the edit/video window. Is this a bug? Bob

Set Button Isn't Working with .avi files

Yes, that's what I did. From the main window I click on "edit" then click on "video" then drag the play arrow on the video preview line to clip I want to be the button, then I click on "set button" and instead of the small button being set to what is shown in the video preview window, the video preview window goes blank (meaning black). As I said, I take the very same steps when using a .mov or mpeg4 file and the button sets to what is in the video preview window. So maybe there is something different with an Xvid file, I don't know. Bob

    Motion Pictures and AAC/AIFF

Hi John, Well, I just did take a group of AAC files in iTunes and selected them in Toast (audio) then exported them as Apple Lossless (m4a) and used them again in MP and they played fine w/o crashes. I couldn't find where I could export them in Toast as an AAC file, but maybe I missed it. Is it there? If so where. Its' piculiar to me that Toast dosen't like AAC or AIFF files that were created by iTunes but will take Apple Lossless and MPEG. I guess that's the worked around. Bob

Does Boom Box work with Intel MACs?

Hi Patrick, I just downloaded BB1.1. I noticed that there is a new app called MusicIP Mixer instead of MusicMagic Mixer and that iPodderX is no longer there. Any info as to what the differences are between MusicIP Mixer and MusicMagic Mixer and my guess is that iPodderX isn't there because of the issue of using "pod" in the name. But why is there not any replacement. I didn't delete the copy of iPodderX that I have since I really like it and don't know of a viable alternative. Is there any docs on MusicIP Mixer? Thanks, Bob

ac3 audio and avi video files in Toast

I'm new to this effort, but I have a qt file that only plays the video but not the audio. The file plays fine using vlc. From what I have figured out, the file shows a qt icon, but it is an avi file ( doing a cmd-I on the file revals that) that has the audio in ac3 format. I thought that there is a way to drag both the ac3 audio file and the associated avi video file into Toast and it would allow one to create an image file that includes both so it can to ripped to a dvd. Is this so? If so what are the steps in doing that? If not does anyone know how that can be done? I have several plugins in my qt folder, but none seem to work with the audio, only the video. Thanks, Bob

    Motion pictures HD

Hmm, Well I will say that I do not use HD photos in my slideshows so I can't comment on that. I really don't have anything (camera wise that does HD photos) but maybe that is where the problem lies. Can you do a test with something less that HD? It wouldn't take long with say 10 SD jpeg images and a simple mp3 file to see the reults. I know that it dosen't solve your problem using HD photos, but maybe it would better identify where the problem is. Wish I could offer more. Bob

    Motion pictures HD

Hi, I have used Motion pictures w/o problems. I would try doing a very small project, say five photos and a short audio and see what happens. maybe use photos that will open in iPhoto fine and are in a jpg format. Bob ps I am using Toast 7.1 and os 10.4.8
  20. I turn verify off to be honest. I've never had a DVD burn successfully and then not verify. Though it must happen since that option is there. I also do save as disc image as well. that i think is enough verifying for me. Others may think different. I suppose it just depends on how much safety/security you want to endure. Bob

    CD/DVD Printer

david, Check your personal messages. I sent you one with the instructions I got from Epson. Hope this helps. Like you I was also able to print memos, using the standard print dialog. But for whatever reason, the application Epson Print CD uses an Epson driver setup that is different from the standard print dialog that you would see in word, excel, etc. Hope this works for you. It did take time, as I am slow/cautious about messing things up. Bob

    CD/DVD Printer

And one more thing Make sure that the printer driver you are using is set for EPSON USB and not just USB. I know that the instructions say USB, but Epson Tech Support told me that it does need to be set for EPSON USB. I ended up haing to trash the Epson Print CD (plus a bunch of other files) and do a custom install. I got all these instructions from Epson tech support since I'm not really a techie. But the good news is that it did work. Bob

    CD/DVD Printer

Hmm, Well, I had a different problem (for whatever reason the print driver wouldn't work) and after many attempts of trying to figure out what was going on, I took the chance of contacting Epson support thru their online support. I identified my problem as best I could and what I had done and here's what happened. 1. Within 3 hrs of my email I got an automatic response that my query was received and that I should receive a response within 24 hrs. That happened with very detailed instructions on three different remedies, the second of which worked. So I would recommend that to you. If you do that, there is one part of the form you fill out that asks for the serial number of the printer. It is located on the lower left back side of the printer in case you're not aware. Good luck. Bob

    CD/DVD Printer

Hi Davidcc1, Sorry for my somewhat incomplete posting about the cd printing. I use Verbatim and memorex printable dvd's and have had no problem with my optical drive reading them. I heard and read that memorex is not high on the list of discs to used so I guess I'm lucky with the batch I have. I've not encountered any smudging etc. I usually wait 5-10 minutes after printing before putiing it into a dvd drive/player. never had a problem. I have printed about 15-20 so far. I am still using the ink catridges that came with the printer. Are you using epson cartridges or a generic? What got me to getting the printer is that over the years I've probably created several hundred dvd's and used a smarty ink pen and with my poor hand writing its not very impressive let alone readable. My bother in law had one and saw the results he got with it and was so impressed that I bought one myself. Bob Bob
