If I understand this correctly I would create an extremely short segment and create action to play all movies .... correct? Ending the short and having the full length in a blank black (or other identical color) frame would also simulate "fade like a pro" I reported this as an issue this morning via web .... I didn't have a warm fuzzy about the response however. Thanks again for your continued interest and support Pete

Thanks Walt, I'll keep this in mind for the next project, but I'm not clear on how this differs from what I've accomplished with chapters, choosing the first chapter will play through to the end. My intention was to have a menu of all 7, choosing any one of the seven would play just that selection and return to the menu, and to have a play all 7 without returning to the menu. I was able to add all the movies separately so each was a title on the main menu page but play all unlinked doesn't work on blu-ray or avchd. I appreciate the advice given by all, it helped me see the trees from deep in the Roxio forest Pete

HUZZAH Blu-ray disc created with 7 mp4 files. All 7 inserted as one movie, then edit chapters choosing start at every panel Navigation works both on PC and LG bd550. I really liked the idea about creating an unlinked button (which worked fine creating DVDs) but fails with Blu-ray Thanks for the help and suggestions! Pete

After reading your referenced post I have one question... Since this issue was noted and documented in C2010 what is the protocol for reporting such issues to Roxio? and a follow up .... Was it reported and subsequently ignored?

I can't tell exactly since the menus and chapters do add, the mp4 files add to 2.93 hours (2:56:00) On this iteration (currently buring to iso) using chapters on Blu-ray the stats are: Used: 23474.1 MB Free: 745.9 MB Time Remaining: 00:06:27 So I suspect the total length is 03:53:33 (assuming 4 hr total for sl blu-ray) When I've tested earlier with the desired files I seem to remember there's 18 minutes or there abouts remaining for the blu-ray production Thanks for your continued support Pete

Thanks Jim, I followed the sage advice from myguggi and created 7 mp4 files with one pic each. I believe if I add all 7 mp4 files as one movie, then create chapters I will at least be able to provide a selector for each file, it will play from selection to end of all chapters ..... correct? That rock pile seems to be never ending Thanks for your continued support ......... I'll be certain to report back when I find a solution that works for me. Pete

Hopefully I'll gain some more wisdom. Order of steps followed ( I have seen this called work flow, albeit not on Roxio forums) Created 7 mp4 files consisting of 1 pic each. Opened MyDVD, selected a menu style Added an unlinked button so I would have "play all" on the first screen Added 7 mp4 files and answered yes to add another menu Preview works as expected Burn iso failed "button command is not supported" I renamed generic movie 1 ... 7 to the actual names I would be using in the real production......is there a limit in the menu system for length, or special characters such as & or # So I discovered that Special Characters and length are NOT problematic........... I added the unlinked button and received the same message Burn iso failed "button command is not supported" I attempted to add a sub menu with the button .... same results I attempted to add a sub menu and change action to all movies in project with same ressults. I'm probably missing something VERY obvious, but I think I'm too far into the forest to actually see trees. Adding only 2 mp4 files to a blu-ray burn then an unlinked button also fails Adding all 7 test mp4 files with an unlinked "play all button" to a DVD burn works ......... apparently the issue is with Blu-ray and menus Any advice or corrections will be greatly appreciated TIA Pete

I suppose that's part of my steep learning curve..........if the current burn fails I will follow your sage advice. Wisdom is the ability to learn from other's mistakes Thanks!

Wellllllllllll I never considered myself TYPICAL, but I have to admit the shoe is fitting so I'm definitely wearing it! C2011 is pretty awesome, but the documentation and error checking is kinda like a skunk ... pretty stinky Thanks for your continued support and guidance Pete

Ignoring it was problematic during burn to iso which failed with the message "Button Command is not supported. Error while writing format." I'm trying again ..... this time I have all 7 files on the first menu and added the un-linked button to the second menu ......... we'll see in about 3 hours. The learning curve is definitely steep for me Thanks Pete

EXCELLENT advice............. I was able to add all 7 files and then an un-linked button which I named play all. My preview of the project resulted in every movie playing then returning to main menu, play all started at the first file. The real trick that I discovered was to answer no to the question "your menu is full, would you like to add another?" I assumed adding another menu was absolutely required, but found out otherwise. I decided to burn an iso image first, I will then create the disc, I'm hoping that's a straight forward option in MyDVD. Thanks again. Pete

I have received excellent feed back from this forum (Jim Hardin, sknis, and myguggi) about using C2011 concerning file size, video and audio quality, and thanks to them I'm over my first couple of hurdles. Now I'm moving on the the next phase of the project which is to output to Blu-ray. I have created one test disc containing 3 mp4 files with C2011, this disc plays both in my home theatre and in my pc. For the real project I have just shy of 4 hours of "mp4 files of varying length (shortest 3 min to longest 53 min) I am having difficulty with creating the desired navigation on the output. What I'd like to accomplish in the navigation is to present options: 1)play the entire seven sections sequentially or 2)choose just one selection to play and after completion return to a selector to either choose another or the entire selection. Maybe this could be changed to choose and one of the 7 selections and play through to end from selection point. Bottom line is I want to present 7 choices plus play all 7 I'm pretty certain what I've outlined is available in C2011, but I'm hitting a brick wall .......... probably just my thinking and I could use some guidance. Windows 7 home premium 64 bit Roxio creator 2011 pro HP Pavilion hpe (intel core i7 960 3.2 ghz) 12 gb memory 160 ssd primary 1 tb hdd secondary 1 tb esata Thanks in advance Pete

Thanks ....... I noticed that there was a BARELY discernable diff in the buttons Pete

    Blu-Ray

By chapter I mean to mark each musical selection as playable individually. OK I can eliminate the step to delete tracks I'm not using. "Fit to audio (yes that was a brain hic-up) is a selection available in VideoWave, I don't think there are parameters to adjust audio to video or video to audio. Actually I want to 2 choices 1) play the entire production sequentially, 2) choose whichever music piece and when through return to main menu. If I understand what you've outlined there isn't a method available for my 2 choices ........ I'm thinking that I didn't understand correctly. "Instead of outputting each movie to a video file in Videowave, you could save each of the movies as a separate project file in Videowave. You then switch to myDVD and add each project file and it will become the Title. " will this result in a 'play all scenario?" So far I've only used one Blu-ray disc, I've been testing results without burning to disc. My one disc does play, but not exactly how I envisioned. It works slightly differently on PC than on LG bd550 in either case the entire disc is PLAYABLE with great audio and video quality, just the menu system is not perfect. Thanks you Walt continued interest and ideas. Pete

    Blu-Ray

Thanks sknis, I have made many dvd music discs in the past. This project was stimulated by an experience I had in the Navy 40 years ago. A bar owner had set up sequential slide shows made with his own slides from around the world accompanied with music - wonderful entertainment ... I've been wanting to do the same sort of thing and now with Blu-ray I can finally accomplish my 40 year old goal (I have quite a bit of music recorded onto reel 2 reel that is not replaceable ... I've used older versions of Roxio to digitize. Possibly I missed something when I used music disc creator in the past so I'll take another look see (I was only able to create 2 hours on dvd when I added slides) I'm testing my first Blu-ray disc on my LG bd550 as I write this ........ I have some learning to do about chapters however. My intention is to have an option to play the entire disc with additional options for each piece of music. My first attempt was only partially successful ... play entire disc doesn't function, and chapter 1 is only playable if I choose chapter 2 then hit back on player. Thanks to posts from Walt and Jim I got past my first hurdle (disc creation was failing due to "failure to import media in author script" - I'm not entirely certain but pretty sure I was choosing an incorrect format for Blu-ray) For anyone interested my work flow follows: Place photos in one folder using original dimensions (I use PhotoShop Elements 9 for photo editing) Start CineMagic, select and photos select random vs sequential (this is my choice certainly not for everyone, if sequential is desired start in VideoWave)) Deselect the intro Send to VideoWave to continue editing add audio apply transition theme add text delete track not used - in my case Fx & Ovl fit audio to music Output to AVCHD 1920x1080i (since there's no motion there's no down side to i here) Complete the above for each piece of music Start video wave and add all the mp4 files into one movie, then send to mydvd add chapters ( this is where I'm not to clear on my success Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Pete
